  1. Yes, reported online. Thanks for the advice.
  2. Thieves (or thief) had a good rummage in our car boot early hours this morning and stole a folding Dahon bike. Possibly interrupted before stealing more as some contents of boot found strewn on pavement and neighbour saw someone circa 0200. Nr Melbourne Grove.
  3. Thank you for the thought. I?ll pop in.
  4. Have lost my black frame prescription glasses somewhere. Brand Prada. Very plain. Used for long distance. Slim chance I?ve left them somewhere local like a cafe or shop. Would love to get them back. Long shot ... thanks
  5. Sorry - didn't pay any attention to exact date of original post. Still, hoping it is all legitimate.
  6. Just had the same family round our street - plausible, polite, friendly... My hunch is they are genuine. Like the original poster, I would be very surprised if the whole thing is a scam.
  7. i have mostly had no signal today. t-mobile. assumed due to bad weather and hope the situation improves.
  8. we too are a short distance from LL and we too are awaiting the delivery of parcels and large letters that should have long since arrived. amazon just reported to us that they would resend an item first class, from which i assumed they would be using royal mail - fingers crossed they wont! we are now giving up on internet shopping due to the pain of waiting for deliveries in this area.
  9. told a mum friend of mine about this thread yesterday morning and would you believe, she saw this boy yesterday afternoon after school hours. she was with her young son. again, dul park, school boy dropped his trousers in front of her whilst looking at her. she confronted him and gave chase but he got away. police attended the park and it appears they are taking this seriously. again, incident took place near to play area.
  10. thanks to all for the responses. much appreciated. sorry - yes, i did see a sample book. cant remember the title but it was about a sacked manageress and someone called adele - memory like a sieve nowadays. the pitch went along the lines that the woman had insufficient funds to get her book printed in volume. am still hopeful i have aided an enterprising type, but my head (now) tells me i was probably "had". hey ho. thanks again all.
  11. has anyone been approached at their door to buy a book from a lady with a child in a pushchair? today, i paid 3.50 on a promise to get an update on when i might receive the said book in about 8 weeks' time - the book has yet to be published. dare i ask, have i been suckered?
