  1. I'm not sure one should take a politician at his word like that JB!
  2. I suspect that is inevitable anyway once the North Dulwich CPZ is implemented first mate.
  3. It's very clear from this submission that they are planning to proceed with the original 8 flats on the first two floors: http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9563213
  4. London is truly blessed with white elephant projects for cyclists!
  5. So you'll just have to put up with it Rob!
  6. Perhaps leaving the door open serves as a reminder of which cars they have already emptied?
  7. Good morning James I wondered if there had been any developments in relation to the proposed Melbourne Grove traffic barrier at all? I can't find the resolutions from September's DCC meeting on the council website and so wondered what actions had been taken / decided on since then? Many thanks
  8. MYN are also developing the houses / flats at 240 Lordship Lane. This was land that Southwark agreed to sell in April 2013 (together with 236 Lordship Lane) according to council minutes on southwark.gov.uk, but details of the sale don't show up on the land registry's website house price data.
  9. If people are slipping over and cracking their heads open because the leaves are only being cleared once a month, it sounds like it will only be a matter of time before there is a personal injury claim brought against the council.
  10. Has there been any progress on this matter since the DCC meeting at the beginning of September?
  11. If there are fewer front line services to organise is does rather suggest that there would be less need for staff to implement them.
  12. Grok there are other London boroughs that manage to clear leaves and litter on a daily basis. https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/parking-transport-and-streets/your-streets/street-cleaning/street-cleaning-services
  13. That's what they have in other London Boroughs. Makes sense to me eg: https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/parking-transport-and-streets/parking-permits/motorcycle-parking
  14. Penguin you are right about the domino effect causing this http://www.hernehill.org.uk/news/north-dulwich-triangle-controlled-parking-zone-consultation There is a map here of all CPZs in Southwark. East Dulwich is rapidly becoming an island! http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s52423/Appendix%201-A%20-%20Map%20of%20existing%20parking%20zones%20in%20Southwark.pdf
  15. First mate, it seems the decision was made by a single cabinet member (Darren Merril, the councillor for East Walworth) but it is potentially subject to call in until 6 November were any councillors for affected wards so inclined. [a]http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=5509[/a]
  16. It 's not likely to be ?700k worth of speed cameras, Spider... "Re: East Dulwich councillor - how can I help? Posted by James Barber October 15, 11:22AM Hi Abe-frieman, What shiny new speed cameras? All London is covered by a Safer Camera Partnership and local councils have little say is where they place cameras. So very curious about your comment?" So, that leaves sleeping policemen, build outs, dot matrix signs and road barriers. Anything I've missed?
  17. There's some rather interesting stuff on the Mayor's website about trees! https://www.london.gov.uk/priorities/environment/greening-london/re-leaf I'd be interested to know how many of the 20,000 London street trees Southwark benefitted from. Even without grants etc, the Forestry Commission Standard Costs for London suggest it would only cost the council ?373.00 to plant a ?standard? tree. Not much when you consider the price of some of the tarmac and granite that's been installed recently.
  18. Perhaps if Cleaner Greener Safer money wasn't being used to fund the Melbourne Grove barrier study there would more left over for things like trees that actually are green! I wonder if any other London Boroughs have run out of money for trees?
  19. Thanks. They may yet save face on this then!
  20. Do you know whether such an appeal go into the merits of the original application or only consider the failure to meet the deadline? If the latter would planning permission be granted automatically?
  21. That's grossly inconsiderate.
  22. In Texas, at first blush it does seem rather sinister. Luckily we know the council would never overlook non-compliance with the law for the sake of a relationship - see for instance those shiny new 20mph speed cameras we're paying for!
  23. This has all one rather quiet and, more than a month after the deputation at the Dulwich Community Council, no minutes are available on Southwark's website. Does anyone know what the current status is?
  24. "I think it is appropriate that we recognise these (classified) roads have demonstrably higher risk of collisions and ensure vehicles entering the highway have sufficient visibility splays provided to reduce this..." James very helpfully provided a link on the Melbourne Grove thread to a websaite that detailed all collisions in East Dulwich. Most of them seem to be at junctions rather than crossovers: www.crashmap.co.uk Lordship Lane has the highest number of incidents, most of which took place in the section with the most restricted parking and with no crossovers at all.
