  1. This didn't end how I expected it to!
  2. There was a trend recently of thefts of catAlyic converters from a certain vehicles
  3. Firekat you should think about suing for your injuries. It's disgrace that pavements are allowed to becomes so dangerous awhile the council throws money at vanity projects like the north crtoss road junction and the so called Melbourne grove "traffic " problem.
  4. The council granted permission to convert the offices to flats some time ago. I don't believe they need to make any claim about rent or otherwise. The 8 flats and 2 penthouses are already for sale as residential units with Winkworth and KFH. It's completely out of the council's hands now.
  5. I will sign this. Southwark already have data on the dangerous speed of traffic on this road ( http://www.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/13539/melbourne_grove_south_safety_review_and_feasibility_study_report ) (page 8)sop if they don't do something it will be bordering on negligence.
  6. Of course the parents are at fault here and not the yobs who leave smashed bottles, beer cans, scraps of fried chicken and kebab boxes and other detritus lying around, week in week out.
  7. Jaywalker, Southwark did commission a survey which found the 15%tile above the speed limit on Lordship Lane were travelling a lot faSter than the traffic on Melbourne grove. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/13539/melbourne_grove_south_safety_review_and_feasibility_study_report It's on page 8. The average speed on Melbourne grove is below the speed limit, the average on Lordship Lane is above the limit. There's no logic to spending ?35k on a road that does not have a speeding issue.
  8. Pretty's tapas, formerly of north cross road, is coming back to ED at the House of Tippler this month.
  9. "Just because 85% may be closed to the speed limit doesn't mean the other 15% speeding should be ignored" It's not a case of ignoring an issue, more a case of accepting there are limited resources and the council can't solve every problem. What would it cost to stop the 15% who speed on every street in Southwark? How many people would you need to employ to achieve that? I think the frustration is borne out of the fetishisation of the very small problems in just one road at the same time that the council is having its pants pulled down on planning applications that may cause far more inconvenince and risk to far greater numbers of residents, like the situation at marks and spencer. The obscene expenditure on what looks like a pet project doesnt help.
  10. Why can't the council hold those people responsible for the pavement closures to account? The cost of their behaviour will land in someone else's lap which seems more than unreasonable to me.
  11. I also think it's slightly unfair on the developer if the views of people largely unaffected by this, because they live over a mile away, are given any weight at all. The concerns of near neighbours are a different matter.
  12. Presumably if they can't build four three bed houses they'll keep it to two stories and build eight two bed flats, meaning much denser living more pressure on parking etc. I think some of the objections made so far are misconceived.
  13. I found this place in the Aylsham arcade, paid ?40 and it took about ten minutes. Phone working perfectly again. Thanks very much for the tip! You'd think the morning after Saturday night might be the best time for ED phone repair shops to do business!
  14. Thanks both, will have to head to Peckham then! Does that while you wait service take long Mrs TP?
  15. To have an iPhone screen replaced today?
  16. Rosie Shimell might be able to shed some light. Re: East Dulwich councillor - how can I help? Posted by James Barber 17 September, 2015 16:55 The current residences at this property did not have planning permission. If they get planning permission for the two flats on additional floor they'll then apply to convert the offices into flats. Such conversions the gov't has issues guidance are allowed and nearly nothing councils can do to stop them. The result in 10 residential properties. Normally social housing is required for development of over 9 homes. So they'll have side stepped this. Cllr Rosie Shimell and I are calling this in
  17. James I might be mistaken but I think this was the planning application that you called in?
  18. The fly tippers must be encouraged by seeing that this stuff keeps getting removed. I'm not sure why true solution is apart from building a big fence around the block.
  19. Presumably there was some sort of open bid process that is very transparent to the people Southwark serve, as per usual.
  20. Both activities are probably theft though, so don't get caught by the police.
  21. The only concerns I can imagine the Dulwich Estate having are either noise/nuisance for their residents or the beneficiaries of their charity being tempted into underage drinking.
  22. Kebab and wine also do takeaway burgers as do GBK so it's not that far off having McDonald's / wimpy style restaurants. There is an M&S Food Hall sign up on the outside now next to the show shop, so I no longer think they are trying to keep this quiet for a surprise opening.
  23. 7th November in which year?
  24. I could do with a poundland there as it happens. I need a new cable for my iphoen charger and Rye Lane is terribly far to walk.
  25. I think they are hoping to surprise East Dulwich when they open an M and S there.
