  1. This is being discussed now on Newsnight. ..
  2. Im sure our local MP wouk5d be very concerned about the envrionmental impact of this method of revenue raising.
  3. Did anyone point out to the women's march that in this country we are so progessive and egalitarian that our prime minister is actually a woman?
  4. Eiffel tower!
  5. Hopefully the chefs make up for it. It is a very small space but the food is excellent.
  6. Although there must be some inconvenience the flip side seemed to be that a very near neghbour appeared to benefit from use of the builders' traffic cones every day during the school run to reserve 'their' parking spot outside this development in the mornings. So it hasnt all been awful.
  7. I'm not sure that approach isn't more antagonistic than it is persuasive.
  8. I figure that raising its profile can only improve it! Who wouldn't want to set.out their stall at an award winning market?
  9. I've submitted a nomination for North Cross Road but please note that on that page it says voting closes on 10th Jan!
  10. I had the misfortune to be stuck in a queue on lordship lane recently behind a lady who was explaining very loudly to someone on her mobile phone that she'd had to take her child to a and e because her gp didnt know anything, she'd checked the symptoms on google and he was wrong. The idiots at a and e didn't know anythimg either apparently.
  11. The police themselves barely ever being seen in public is probably a significant contributory factor.
  12. I live just off NXR and haven't had a letter but I think it is a wonderful idea and would love to see the market bigger and better than it is already.
  13. Non determination was exactly the same fiasco with the m and s building. This looks like very bad news for anyone opposed to the original plans.
  14. So, it turns out these speed humps probably won't reduce the top speed of vehicles as they accelerate in between them but they will generate a lot more pollution in Melbourne Grove and it seems that such pollution causes a significant number of deaths. Oh dear. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12/01/speed-bumps-could-removed-cut-traffic-pollution-save-lives/ "The Imperial study found that in one north London street with a speed limit of 20mph and fitted with road humps, a petrol driven car produced 64 per cent more Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) than in a similar 20mph street fitted with road cushions. It also produced 47 per cent more Particulate Matter (PM) and nearly 60 per cent more Carbon Monoxide (CO2) emissions."
  15. Some of the covenants which this application intends to discharge are also binding on Sainsburys as well as the developers. I wonder if historically there has been any communication between the club or the supporters trust and Sainsburys to get them on side? I can't imagine it would be a good look for them if they passively allowed facilities that encourage a healthy lifestyle to fall prey to property development.
  16. On the face of it, that application, if granted, could allow them to knock down the existing facilities without having built the replacement yet. Which would mean no football club, so no need to build replacement facilities or enter into a new s106 agreement. Is that right?
  17. Yes, it would be fine.
  18. I guess that's because the road is only clsoed for half of the market. I'd like to see the whole of north cross road closed with stalls all the way up to the actress on both sides.
  19. The obtsructions have meant many pedestrians have been forced to cross a dangerous junciton and enter East Dulwich Ward making it an ED issue I think.
  20. James perhaps the coucil could just charge them a fee each time they apply to extend the time limit, to encourage them to get on with it?
  21. Does the developer not need a licence to close the pavement and road though? If so presumably there was a time limit attached and they would have had to provide a reasonable explanation for their tardiness each time they wanted it extended?
  22. Sounds so familiar! "If I lived in Camberwell Grove I would want the bridge closed...."
  23. Most of the really expensive shops have quite swanky frontaages
