  1. Especially if there are 7 other places in the same road selling curry with beer
  2. So it's fake news. You'd think the 'journalist' responsible for this might have stopped to consider whether it made any sense before publishing such tripe.
  3. I'd suggest following up seperately from James Barber if it's not just a "ponding issue" and it's actually dangerous There seems to be something additional going on for him when it comes to lordship lane pavements Re: East Dulwich Needs You! Looking for proactive & talented people to join a community initiative Posted by James Barber February 18, 04:26PM Fixing Lordship Lane pavements. We have some limited devolved highway repair budget each year. Rosie and I have reported various ponding issues which are we've been assured being looking at for repairs. One larger area hasn't had agreement from all the landlords and without all agreeing this larger pavement renewal can't proceed."
  4. You can report it here and they'll notify the council: https://www.fixmystreet.com/around?pc=east+dulwich
  5. The shop where Jacksons was nextdoor to Chener Books seems to be empty this weekend. Closed down or just a refurbishment I wonder?
  6. Taper I think the cause of that is in part that many cyclists speed up again once they are in their cycle lane. In the shared (unsegrgated) space (even all the way through Surrey canal park, cyclists give more room to and slow down for pedestrians. In the cycle lane on Rye Lane a number of them expect to be able to pass unhindered at whatever speed they choose. I've been overtaken at great speed a number of times when cycling down there. I thinkthat's because I only cycle along that stretch at a speed where I would be able to stop without incident if a pedestrian stepped into the cycle lane.
  7. I would call Southwark's environmental services. is the waste on Sainsbury's land or the public highway?
  8. I've never heard of the Honor Oak Nature Corridor and almost all reference to it on google links back to "Save Southwark Woods" If it really is something that has been made up it makes me wonder what else is.
  9. What is the "Honor Oak Nature Corridor"?
  10. Probably means ?30m more in council tax income for southwark though. Must be very tempting for them.
  11. Very good point Michael
  12. Have to agree with the previous two comments. The chosen route means this proposal is of no further interest to me.
  13. I think some Labour party members wanted the referendum because they were confident Remain would win and hopeful that the fallout and subsequent loss of support to UKIP would tear the tories apart. They never contemplated the possibility Leave could win.
  14. It's funny how there is't a similar problem using the shared space from the north end of Rye Lane across Peckham Road and past the library
  15. Shared space and lack of road markings generally decrease the number of collisions because they encourage all road users to be far less selfish and a lot more cautious. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/feb/04/removal-road-markings-safer-fewer-accidents-drivers
  16. We'll see, but the lords and the lib dems are toothless. The parliament act deals with the lords and the lib dems have 10 votes out of 650. The prime minister is determined and no one argues that once article 50 notice has been served (before the end of March) it is irrevocable and our exit is set in stone.
  17. The concession referred to above came out today on the fourth day on which parliament has debated our exit after the referendum and after the highest court in the land ordered them to talk about it. It's anythimg but supine.
  18. Were you hoping the option would be to vote to reject the deal and then just carry on as if the referendum had never happened?
  19. The other alternative is that cyclists could be more patient, accept that there is limited space on a shopping precinct and bus terminal, and slow down a bit for the 30 or so seconds they have to share that stretch with other people. And if they really can't bear that, there alternative routes south.
  20. It's a problematic claim for any of these MPs that their constituents voted one way or the other. This is because their constituents' votes were counted alongside the rest of Southwark (in the case of Helen Hayes' constituency some with those of the rest of Lambeth). There is some evidence to indicate the way specific demographic gorups voted so you could try to interpolate the Dulwich and West Norwood vote from its constituent demopgrahy. You';d then have to look at those as a proportion of the total populations Lambeth and Southwark and guess at what their vote was. But there is no accurate way to assert the constituency voted one way or the other. And even then it was a binary referendum so either way a good chunk of people were going to feel alienated whatever these MPs did last night.
  21. Sounds like a nightmare!
  22. Oh I see, I assumed they'd go to school locally.
  23. Are there no schools in Crystal Palace?
  24. Maximum ?60bn they think. Possibly lower down to as little ( !) as ?34bn.
