  1. I guess he means if there are 30 spaces currently that are on average occupied by 20 cars then after the CPZ there will be on avsrage only 16 cars parked there.
  2. If you don't want it in ED it is probably a good idea to object to it in the separate West Peckham consultation too.
  3. I wondered if the issue with them finding good staff at the C and G is down to it being a bit out of the way compared to the many more convenient options for bar / pub workers in Herne Hill or East Dulwich. Are the other restaurants in Dulwich Village generally busy in the evenings?
  4. Quite a detailed report here.... http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2019/01/report-from-the-dulwich-hamlet-open-meeting-on-monday-jan-28th-2019/
  5. That may be because James Barber campaigned out of hours rather than 9 to 5 mon to fri.
  6. It sounds to me like the council employees come up with ideas to raise revenue, their victims who live in Southwark object, and the councillors elected to face the council down are too gutless to pay heed to the voice of the people.
  7. He's not a democratic socialist, he is a Marxist - it says so on his twitter profile.
  8. He's been quite busy online, just not on here. Maybe he needs some time to think about the issue. I wonder if our other councillors have expressed a view...
  9. "- There has been no assessment of the financial benefit to the council. I found this quite incredible but it was confirmed when I asked the question a second time. - The cost of the consultation process was not known - reinforcing the fact that no proper economic analysis has been performed. " I ca't actually believe that the council can embark on this project without knowing what it will cost and whether or not they will be out of pocket.
  10. No, people were objecting on the basis of the future parking pressure likely to result from the proposal which might in itself enable the council to justify imposing a CPZ on the area...
  11. On the point about whether or not Southwark will actually listen to the outcome of the consultation, this may be instructive. It's another project in East Dulwich that will result in the loss of a large number of car parking spaces... "You Said We received 463 responses: 28% were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied', 63% were 'dissatisfied' or 'very dissatisfied'. ..." The scheme is going ahead as planned. That's what we are dealing with here. https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/eastdulwichtopeckham/
  12. Whether you agreed with James Barber or not, at least he stood up and let his views be known with reasoning and engaged in the debate!
  13. Labour councillors aren't going to be interested in stopping a proposal that taxes rich middle class car owners and capitalist business people.
  14. Interesting point Spider and Rye Lane is chocka block with small one off independent businesses that survive in spite of their parking restrictions.
  15. I have to say, when i lived in Chelsea the borough wide CPZ was a godsend. Their local and independent businesses all over the borough thrive on residents being able to drive from all over and park outside. Maybe the street by street permits Southwark go for are too unambitious and too retentive.
  16. The suggestion that you solve the commuter issue for those near the station by only implementing the CPZ is wrong - you will just tip the problem into the next nearest streets. Part of the issue in ED is all of the recently implemented CPZs on Dog Kennel hill, Peckham, North Dulwich, Denmark Hill, Herne Hill Denmark etc.
  17. Were will the suddeen influx of residents cars come from a few months in Jonny?
  18. The zone under consultation is bounded by Barry Road, East Dulwich Road, and then Lordship Land (and the few streets to th west of it) up to Townley Rd. Where do all you people live that have to drive to Lordship Lane or the Leisure Centre?
  19. Ah, thank you! I did search for "Mr Liu" but nothing came up oddly.
  20. Does anyone know if this place has closed down?

It does me, > every time I go past it. Gosh, I never knew that but now when you look at the two, there is a lady and child on the right hand side of the Hanbury Road mural that look almost the same as those in Pellat Road. There is also a very similar hand gesture in both murals.
  22. A CPZ will stop people driving to roads near the station. There's been a domino effect of CPZ's being introduced in the last few years in waves Herne Hill, North Dulwich, Denmark Hill, south Peckham all shifting commuters into the next area without a CPZ. East Dulwich is the odd one out for the moment...
  23. I guess it's better than lobbing it onto a tree or just leaving it in the street which is what most dog people seem to do.
  24. I know of a couple of people from the far south of East Dulwich that drive closer to the station each day to commute.
