  1. Some dog owners are utterly obnoxious. I've often seen people in the parks allowing their dogs to run wild, terrorizing wildlife and children in areas where they should be on a short lead. I've even seen people letting their dogs into the dog free picnic section in peckham rye.
  2. Given how much the council seem to be irritating everyone, and pitting neighbours up against each other with NIMBYist schemes that rise money for Tooley Street, but not for our wards, I'd be quite interested in the potential devolution from the council for the Southern Triangle of Southwark to form its own London Borough. I would suggest the new London Borough of Dulwich be comprised of the wards of Dulwich Village, Dulwich Wood, Dulwich Hill, Goose Green and Peckham Rye. Southwark can keep the rest.
  3. And the wealthy people will be the ones driving big gas guzzling 4 x 4s! Great for the environment....
  4. Government grants to South have been cut from ?514m in 2010 to only ?618m in 2018. You can read all about it here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/key-documents/statement-of-accounts Of the total ?1.2bn the council received in the last financial year it spent 365,000,000 on employee expenses (salaries etc).
  5. everyone who lives in the roads surrounding the parks will be saved by the council's CPZ which you cane be sure will go ahead.
  6. Well, the then Labour government was charging them 95% income tax. Anyone vaguely sensible would have tried to avoid that.
  7. GKB at the bottom of the drop down list for "Street (Required)" there is an option "other" . Just select that, put in your post code and you can move on to the next page.
  8. James, there doesn't seem to be any traffic at all on either side of the road in that photo?
  9. I have a car, driving licence and a push bike but I would never self-identify as a cyclist.
  10. Well, no, not unrelated because if the council had subbed them some cash that would have made a lot of sense. But it seems they didn't.
  11. My motivation is curiosity. They seem to have gone from relying on "12th man" buckets to pay the wages to being able to afford a refurbished bar with Sky TV that is open 7 days a week, new toilets, new banners etc. Quite a turnaround and I just wondered how they did it?
  12. DHFC seem to be absolutely awash with cash since their return to champion hill. Quite a remarkable turnaround from fans having to pay the players wages. Does anyone know where all the money has come from?
  13. Your assumption is that they don't like your suggestion because it is not as convenient or quick, but actually it might just be that they don't want to use the so-called alternative as that means they will create excess unnecessary pollution, or come into conflict with a plague of self righteous passive aggressive cyclists.
  14. Yesterday was unusual because melbourne grove was closed for a play street day. That i think has been part of a tactic of the Melbourne Grove Traffic Action Group to end the other great plague in their street: rat runners
  15. Chick did you not notice the 8 Labour party MPs resigning from the party last week? Back on topic, this consultation is for a borough wide tax on all businesses selling alcohol after 12am. 70% of the funds raised will go to the Met who can then spend it as they see fit pretty much anywhere within the M25 https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/late-night-levy/consult_view/
  16. I don't expect the Labour council to be moved by that report at all. They just love taxing people til they squeak. they are not going give up high business rates and the opportunity to make a fortune from a CPZ even if it means some people's businesses go bust. They just don't care. The complete lack of transparency on the cost of the CPZ against the projected income betrays how much profit they actually anticipate making out of their residents.
  17. Thanks James, hope you enjoyed your break.
  18. Hello James I have a third money question for you! Did Southwark council give any money to Dulwich Hamlet in the last 12 months, and if so how much? If you can't help with these 3 questions, do you know who at the council can please? They are 1) cost of implementing the CPZ 2) cost of the CPZ consulatation and 3) how much money, if any Southwark put into Dulwich Hamlet football club. Many thanks
  19. " So lots of councillors who don't cycle know better than the majority of people who are cycling!" I think only one of them even lives in the area and the others seem to barely visit, maybe coming round once a month to promote their party?
  20. Greene King would not buy a sub lease though. They would buy a freehold pub with no lease at all on it - i.e. no lease to enterprise and no sub-lease to the pub manager. That seems to be the most likely scenario here. If the lease with Enterprise expires in June and the sub lease also expires the whole operation could be sold as one. I would guess that might be worth about ?5m. If I could cash in for that (after 15 years of hard work!) then personally I would let my lease expire and take no action to 'save' the pub.
  21. Hello James, I wondered if you knew the answer to my question at all (cost the council to implement the controlled parking plans)? I have heard form another source that the council has spent ?2.5m on the east dulwich consultation alone. Is that figure accurate and were you or your fellow councillors aware of it in advance?
  22. Which one is the Grove? Is it Grove House?
  23. Are the "banners mounted throughout the village, appearing in January 2019" still going ahead for this project?
