  1. I heard this was an issue some months ago. Is it still a problem? Why have they not got on top of it yet?
  2. looks like they are just very slowly burning through the crowd fund monies. Accounts here: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10253304/filing-history
  3. They have probably made a contribution actually. Just one example of - kicking out all of those people from Elephant and Castle to sell off their homes to overseas capitalist investors leaves some of those people feeling very Brexity.
  4. I don't understand how commuters can possibly be a problem unless you yourself are using your car to drive to and from somewhere during rush hour every day.
  5. I think there a two elements to this : 1) trust in the unelected employees of the council to work in the best interest of the public and not to their agenda and 2) trust in the elected representatives to hold the employees of the council to account on behalf of the public and to stand up to those council employees where they act outside our interests. I have no trust in the employees of the council at Tooley St. I have even less trust in the councillors. I think they are generally either doing nothing but enjoying the ceremonial status of the role or, worse, simply acting as a mouthpiece for the council and standing up against the public when we confront projects that are not in our interests
  6. Penguin, I've taken a leaf out of the book of that southwark cyclists special interest group page on the other thread and am flooding this consultation with comments that reflect my personal preferences and self interest. So far I have expressed my grave concerns that removing all cars parked on the kerbside 1) increases the speed of traffic making the roads physically more dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians, and 2) encourages people to pave over their front gardens to use as car parks, thus increasing pollution a de-greening the area, which are causing yet more lung and brain damage to cyclists
  7. How about free beer for everyone in the nearby bar to celebrate when it opens?! :)
  8. I would guess that they are an association comprised of independent businesses in East Dulwich. They are not campaigning on behalf of anyone except for the members of that association. They are not funded by compulsory taxation threat of imprisonment and so to compare them to the council is absurd.
  9. It's not quite the only thing! We can also be certain that of all those asked only 1 in 10 replied to say they actually wanted a CPZ.
  10. There is no other rational way to deal with the 63% who chose not to participate. It's illogical to conclude that someone who wanted a CPZ would not bother telling the council that. Regardless, the fact is that only 11% of ED Residents asked for a CPZ.
  11. Hi James Apologies if you have been busy but a week ago I asked where I might access the full dataset for the CPZ consultation. It seems that you have been able to share it with posters on here and so would be grateful if you would confirm where it can be found? Many thanks
  12. When you look at it like that 32% of 37% of East Dulwich Residents actively asked for a CPZ. That means that only 11.84% of East Dulwich residents actually want a CPZ. The poster should therefore have said - "88.16% of East Dulwich residents have rejected a CPZ"
  13. The other error was that it was only 67% who voted against a CPZ . In fact 68% rejected it!
  14. Lowlander your "67%" stat for the poster is more of a 'lie'. You've 'lied' twice now about this poster: once that it claims 67% of something amd second that it says people 'voted' To me this seems sinister.
  15. While that is a very interesting puff piece for their specific organisation, every single example they cite includes a large budget "public realm improvement" program. We are getting some parking bays and a lot of double yellow lines and that's it. Southwark aren't turning East Dulwich into a pedestrianized nirvana. They are just going to charge people for parking their cars.
  16. What about dog on wildlife? Plenty of dog owners seem to think it ok to let their animals run around the duck pond off lead terrorising the young waterfowl from the ede of the fence.
  17. Re 1. even if only a quarter of those 4000 stopped shopping here that would probably be enough to close a number of businesses and empty shops are like falling domminoes for the rest of a high st. Re 3. Thanks for pointing this out. Their twotter feed includes the poster so the "voted for" / "objected to" question can be answered: Disappointed to see some of our favourite Lordship Lane shops & local businesses campaigning so hard against something which will improve the environment for shoppers & local residents. A CPZ is supported by a majority from within the zone being recommended. #cleanair pic.twitter.com/wJ43Qp2PKz— EDstationparking (@edstnparking) April 24, 2019
  18. If it's true that half of the signatories to the petition were visitors to the area that is very concerning indeed. Losing 4,000 customers would decimate the high street and with that ED can kiss goodbye to its house prices.
  19. Hi James Given you have already seemingly shared the full data with some people, please would you make it available publicly for all of your constituents. There can be no data protection restriction if you have been able to share it already so there is no good reason why you should not publish it.
  20. I don;t think they will compete much with the pharmacies but the toiletries Superdrug sells will compete with CO Op and it looks to me like another nail in the coffin for that shop unfortunately.
  21. You'd probably have to put your mowings in a plastic bag now . To be fair to James B, I don't recall this bin tax ever being proposed when he was a councillor so it seems very harsh to say that he would propose it now.
  22. Hi James Apologies for quoting you selectively but you are in politics, so it is par for your course now! I am pleased to hear you now have the full dataset . Please could you confirm where we can access this information too? For many of the reasons expressed on this subject already, I would be very interested to see for myself how well the published report accurately reflects that data.
  23. Have you thought about the colour pink?
