Goose Green Councillors newsletter
Abe_froeman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes but you then pass that email address on to mailchimp "for processing" I'm also quite surprised at the tone of your article "It's not about Jackie Walker". Don't you feel you should update or delete it now that she has been expelled from the Labour Party? -

Crazy chasing after the thief. -
I guess they would have to park their cars in the unrestricted streets south-east of the so-called "East Dulwich Grove CPZ" if it hasn't already been expanded by the time these flats are built. Adding parking pressure to a non=-CPZ area is something the council will relish and I can imagine this would encourage them to wave this application through, notwithstanding that three quarters of the proposed stadium seems to be located on the greendale playing fields around the edges of the existing astro turf.

"If not, what is the justification for all other outlets charging so much for Beer, Spirits and Food. ? " I don;'t think it's greed, I think it's more the way so many pubs are structured. If you're a tied landlord you have to buy your beer from the freeholder who , more often than not these days, is not a brewer and so has to buy the beer themselves first from a brewer or maybe even an agent of the brewer. The more people that have to buy the beer before it is sold to the customer, the more expensive it gets. Spoons are able to buy beer direct from the brewers and have the purchasing power of 750 pubs. They will be getting a much better deal on their beer than most other landlords could dream of.

Recycling - Can you help?
Abe_froeman replied to amylamontfitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Those coffee cups can actually be recycled now. There is a company in Kent that does it, and even our own local waste management service provider seem to do it! https://www.veolia.co.uk/services/coffee-cup-recycling -
6 months ago, ours was massively out of kilter with what seems to be going on in the estate agents. It had tracked Zoopla plus about 8% extra...

Lots of snobs posting in this thread.

Hi Mike, unfortunately not, but there is reference to it in the documents, eg in the car parking plan - "As part of the consultation process that has been undertaken, a Southwark Borough Council Design Review Panel (DRP) was held on 13th May 2019. This resulted in some design recommendations which were subsequently given further consideration. "

What's the problem with tandoori nights, DF? -
the seemingly extensive pre-application meetings with the council make me suspect that this application is a done deal. And building 224 new homes without a single parking space between them is going to make residential car parking in the surrounding streets an absolute nightmare!

Abe_froeman replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Before the change they had an excellent chef and very high quality ingredients. Is the chef still the same guy and is he still able to source the same ingredients or is he stuck with whatever the pub co tells him he has to buy? -

Rye Lane cycle lane confusion and danger
Abe_froeman replied to Huggers's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Cycling along Rye Lane is fine as long you go at an appropriate speed and obey the traffic lights. The buses manage to pass through there without colliding with pedestrians but invariably you see angry impatient cyclists overtaking buses on the pavement / oncoming cycle path at speed on both sides of the road. This morning I was overtaken by 7 cyclists whilst stopped at the red light atvthe Primark end of the bus lane, all of whom had to avoid pedestrians crossing on a green man. -
Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?
Abe_froeman replied to slarti b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
does anyone know if the council are going to come and collect all the brown bins from people who did not chose to subscribe for this service, and if so when? -
They are two different bikes.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
Abe_froeman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A bit more digging into this , it seems Southwark have used a company called "char.gy" rather than ubitricity. Char.gy do charge for the electricity and their charging point lam posts on their website look nothing like the one in the photo that Mr Simmons posted. Very curious. https://char.gy/ -
Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
Abe_froeman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In that scenario Penguin, would Southwark be buying the electricity (with our money)then giving it away to the supplier for free, and then the supplier sells that electricity to residents charging their cars? That would be pretty appalling wouldn't it? Also it seems Ubitricity is an offshore company -

Abe_froeman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps James McCash can confirm whether or not Southwark are providing the electricity free of charge, but I would be surprised if his fellow conucillor had made a mistake. -
East Dulwich has the independent Monkatsu selling exactly the same stuff but in a more imaginative and independent way than the corporate Tonkotsu chain of restaurants

Took me a while to find as it was a few months ago, but here is a Dulwich councillor posting a pic of a ?35,000 car being charged and confirming the electricity is free. -

Those who want/need to charge up their car/van could just park by their won homes instead and run a cable from their own electricity supply. I don't agree at all with the council providing free electricity indiscriminately for people to run expensive electric vehicles. It's literally a free for all for people from outside southwark and for businesses to fuel their vehicle for free when we have poor people in the borough living in squalid conditions because the council supposedly has no money. It also flies in the face of all the BS posted above about the council implementing CPZs in our streets to try to discourage people from using cars.
