The two most frequent motivations for getting people out of cars are 1) politics of envy or 2)being part of the fanatical cycling lobby.

Number plates stolen off our car today.

Chuff ypu really should report that stolen car to the old bill so they can impound it. -
That's great news! Southwark are pretty good at following up on those notices too. A few years ago there was a very nice Land Rover Defender in North Cross Road with a flat tyre that lasted about four weeks before getting a yellow notice and being taken away :(

Whoever was in charge of their twitter account seemed to be very badly affected by the political situation last year and seemed to spend at least as much time posting anti tory tweets as they did promoting their own business. Perhaps they took their eye too far off the ball? -
I think you should report to the council if you even have the vaguest suspicion that you are being rented a council flat. The people that keep these flats and rent them out whilst other people, often with children, are homeless and living in hostels or on the street, are absolute

In the old Maudsley offices .. Does anyone know what this shop is going to be?

You sometimes see a mini parked in that space, so I imagine if they built up four or five floors you could get 8 to 10 bright spacious modern apartments on there.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
Abe_froeman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You'd think they will be there for most of December so it must be a fairly sizeable profit the council will get from this. I suspect we won't hear much from the councillors until after the general election now. -

Hi charlie, good to see a councillor on this thread again after a couple of months in limbo. Do you know how we can get the council to remove all the taxis that have been abandoned in the area? I am aware of over 20 of these vehicles that have not been moved for at least three months -

The council could do a lot more to make the crossings obvious, like keeping the paintwork up to scratch. It might also be better of the crossings were moved at least one car's length back from the roundabout -
Anyone know what is happening here? Looks like it was "due for determination" on 11 October 2019. I do hope the council have not dropped the ball again like they did with the M and S application on Lordship lane. https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=dates&keyVal=ZZZV0JKBWR961

You might try soaking it in WD40 first to get rid of some of the rust, then if you can get the threaded part out replace with a new bolt cut to the right length (you may also need to narrow the head of the bolt...

Appreciate the foot print is bigger at the grove vale william hill but there can;t be anywhere outside it for delivery lorries to park up with the bus stop and the zig zag lines for the pedestrian crossing unless there's some access in vale end?

Hi James Is there anything the council can do about all the crime that seems to be committed in our area, like install CCTV cameras and improve street lighting etc ? If you look at this board there seem to be so many muggings and burglaries and vehicle thefts. It's deeply concerning and I wondered the council can be / are doing about it? Many thanks -

James Do you know if anything can be done about a taxi that has sat unmoved for over six months? There is vegetation growing on the tarmac underneath the vehicle now. many thanks -

I'm interested in how that hirecar got moved, Lynne. There is a huge fleet of taxis all over the area now that have been dumped, unmoved for months on end, blocking up the place. -
It's not that clever pagan, it's been pretty obvious for a number of years as they slowly creep bit by bit through the borough with their stealth tax scheme. Presumably the change to all day is to catch out people who are waiting to pick someone up from the train station. Otherwise there would be no PCN revenues at all. We will see if the traffic wardens hang around waiting to ticket people at rush hour.

At a guess, given the timing, I would think they will be driving to a school.

This doesn't even make driving more difficult! The whole point of it is to make driving easier. The people that wanted this CPZ the most were those who get in their car every morning, pop out for a little drive and then find a commuter in 'their' parking spot when they get home. These people want to be able to drive to wherever they are going (presumably parking somewhere?) and still have their parking space once they've driven home. And the CPZ enables and makes those journeys a lot esaier...

Read the Southwark spine docs in the same place rahrah. Parking in crystal palace road is about to get very difficult with masses of new double yellows and also a new zebra crossing adding 20 metres or so of no parking, so I'm afraid you will face more congestion on that stretch in rush hour, but there will be a segregated lane from Bellenden (more congestion there too no doubt on the yet narrower configuration).

Sounds like we should just nuke Melbourne Grove from orbit. Problem solved... -
It looks from the plans that the MOL development is not only the footprint of the existing astroturf but also building three sides of the stadium on the perimeter of that land. Those three sides they are trying to keep 'open' so they arent impinging on the openness of the MOL but as a sports fan, despite the glossy pictures, to me the 'stadium' is going to be more sunday league than the dated current arrangements. I cant understand why the club would put up with that. It looks so temporary and disposable.
