  1. That coach service is remarkable. Doesn't look like there is a single stop less than three miles away.
  2. Thanks for posting that article Good to know what James actually thinks o us lot: "As a teacher in a state primary school in Brixton and a Labour councillor in leafy Dulwich..."
  3. I would imagine that very few Dulwich College kids parking in Hunts Slip rd have anything at all to do with congestion in Court Lane, Eyennella Road, Townly Rd, Calton Ave etc.
  4. There aren't any conservatives in Southwark at all so you can;t blame them! I guess our elected representatives are hoping this will all be forgotten about by the next elections ( May 2022. Tbf to him, this is exactly the sort of issue that James Barber was so good at getting a balanced view from residents on and making sure that the decision reflected what the people living under it actually wanted and needed. Our three councillors have been beyoond hopeless on the CPZ.
  5. Yes good luck for the future. Really enjoyed every meal at Saucy and it's a great loss to Lordship Lane.
  6. No the main purpose of it was to preserve parking spaces outside people's houses on Melbourne Grove, so that those people could get in their own cars evrey day, drive off to someone else's road and still have their parking space when they got home. All documented on the "EDSTN Healthy Streets" twitter account
  7. I think there were only 3 or 4 newsletters, last one i saw was October 2019.
  8. I think our local councillors are still in mourning! Dont see much on this forum any more...
  9. The car free utopia is laughable. The principal purpose, as far as very local residents are concerned, is to make it easier for the nimbys living in these streets to drive their own cars around and out onto other people's roads. It's exactly the same as the motivation behind the CPZ around ED station and those barmy proposals to gate off Melbourne Grove (that seem to be resurrected by this scheme).
  10. The second paragraph contradicts the first. Out of town shopping malls were the near death nell for many high streets until local councils realised they were turning towns into no go zones and started relaxing parking restrcitons.
  11. The Blackfriars Bridge example also ignores the empty cycle lanes and long queues of lorries on Southwark Bridge.
  12. And with the vehicles, the sports clubs, shops and restaurants may well also disappear. I suspect the schools may struggle too tbh. It will be hard to attract prospective parents from outside the area to send their children there when they have to travel by the public transport that is actually available to get to those streets
  13. He does want a wall!
  14. Yes we should close East Dulwich Grove and Lordship lane to traffic too during pick up and drop off for the Harris schools. Dulwich College is on the south circular so we should shut that down too. Maybe we could just build a wall around southwark and make everyone with a car pay for it?
  15. Roywj, I think all the sports clubs and velodrome have parking but what use is it if they ckose off the acecss roads so you can;t get there in the first place?
  16. can we assume that the Goose Green councillors no longer bother with this site?
  17. Then southwark would lose on the profit from the CPZ and Townley Road permits! It worries me greatly that this proposal will also have a seriously negative affect on that stretch of Lordship Lane between Townley Road and East Dulwich Grove where all the businesses are that make this such a great place to live. And our local councillors seem to have gone missing completely since the election
  18. Three things stand out for me here: 1. The sports clubs on Burbage road, including the velodrome, will be very badly affected by these proposals. 2. The sneaky way the council insist a new CPZ across the EDG /Townley Road, Lordship Lane / Court Lane area will be necessary 3. The reincarnation of the proposals to gate off Melbourne Grove
  19. Quite a few in dulwich village. I wonder if these are all owned by the same people and have just been moved around and had the yellow stickers removed.
  20. What a pleasant topic to choose to exploit for your personal political agenda.
  21. Many of us complained before they made the decision and they dismissed every complaint and objection out of hand and shut down all debate on the issue. If they don't listen to residents as part of the consultations they are legally compelled to undertake, I have no faith whatsoever that they will bother to do so after the fact.
  22. Jim you completely understand what people are saying about the cash. The monies raised from a CPZ by far outweigh the cost of implementing and enforcing it. That raises revenue for the council. The council has to spend that revenue on roads. That means the money it is currently spending on roads that does not come from CPZ revenue can be reallocated to council wages, bonuses new BMW limos to drive councillors around in, or whatever else takes their fancy. In the meantime they do have to send the CPZ revenue on things like consulting for new CPZs, putting in double yellow lines in areas where there are not currently CPZs, putting in buuild outs to around roads that are not in CPZs to stop people parking, putting in speed bymps and islands (which need omre double yellows obviously) in non-CPZ areas etc.
  23. The silence form our local councillors on this is also quite deafening.
  24. Do any of the councillors still visit this site?
