  1. There is plenty of excuse for children behaving sub-optimally at this time. By force of law they have been under house arrest for nearly four months with no interaction with others of their own age. The psychological trauma of lockdown has been hard enough for stable, grounded adults but is it uniquely cruel for children to have had to go through this.
  2. Tell that to the people in East Dulwich complaining about children who aren't at school and are playing in their own back gardens instead!
  3. Would ?5000 cover the cost of a boris bike station instead?
  4. You'll have to put with noisy children living under house arrest for a lot longer then!
  5. It would probably work out cheaper to buy an old flatbed truck and an annual parking permit. Then put the skip in the back of the truck and at the end of the build sell the truck to the next guy in the street doing an extension
  6. Evidence that it is unions working to keep schools closed:
  7. This is what people voted for It's ?28 per day. "f you wish to place a skip in a restricted parking bay, you must apply for a parking suspension." https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/guide-to-parking/suspension-of-parking-bays Plus a skip licence. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/business/licences/roads-and-highway-licences/skip-licence
  8. You could go to the park and work there...
  9. This is quite inconsiderate. Teachers unions have effectively closed down schools and there is no alternative childcare provision Homeworking parents just don't have the option of sacking off their job and going to the park for the day.
  10. "I am chasing up plans for elsewhere in the ward." FFS!
  11. and "rat running" is quite an ignorant phrase. If someone lives in Ashbourne Grove and needs to use their car to get to and from herne hill they still have to rat run, it's just that they will now have to rat run down lordship lane on the way out and along Matham Grove on the way home. Normal people call this driving rather than "rat running"
  12. What you are missing is that Townley Road, Eynella Road and Court lane are not being turned into gated communities.
  13. "You can separate out residents from non-residents by postcode / address / cross reference with voting/council records" Did they actually do that though?
  14. Not sure how that would have satisfied the residents of Melbourne Grove?
  15. Does the Charter School have onsite parking for teachers, like so many of the other schools round here do?
  16. It's much easier to distance yourself from others in a car than it is on foot or a bike
  17. These surveys (submitted to the council) suggest that by far the majority of people actually living on Dulwich Village completely disagree with these proposals http://dulwichra.org.uk/index.php/dulwich-village-ra-submission/
  18. How many times has your child actually been killed to date ?
  19. They specifically say they would ban traffic on certain roads at peak times. This would allow timid cyclists and pedestrians exclusive use of those roads at those times
  20. "Schools aren't shut just because people think kids will die in numbers ..." You're right - the overwhelming reason schools are still shut is people playing politics. It's an appalling state of affairs. 1,600 paediatricians wrote to the government today to say that the life chances of a whole generation of school children are being destroyed by their continued closure. The effects of that are going to be far far worse than those caused by the virus
  21. Why does the answer always have to be bicycles?
  22. They seem to be under a huge amount of pressure from two pressure groups, one called "Clean Air for Dulwich" and the other "Southwark Cyclists".
  23. Those photos don't confirm that the cars which were there were all commuter's cars though. I live on a road that rejected the CPZ and parking is the same as it was before March - you can usually get a space near home but often you have to park two or three roads away. That might indicate that some people who live in the new CPZs have simply moved their cars ot oru roads. Which would please the council enormously no doubt.
