  1. "Imagine thinking using public space for something other than bicycles was selfish."
  2. ever had your alloy wheels tidied up locally , please? I've asked in the business section but am getting no traction there.
  3. It's also an offence to wilfully obstructs the free passage along a highway in any way without lawful authority and these events stop people from freely cycling along that road or turning their cars and lorries around as they are entitled to do.
  4. Maybe any councillors that were there just went along to check their eyesight?
  5. Maybe they are just thoughtless ****s?
  6. If you really want to put a stop to it just phone the police on Saturday and tell them there is an unlicensed music event / block party going on.
  7. Have you ever met an NHS doctor James? This not for profit idea suggests not...
  8. Those businesses only serve to encourage rat running anyway and cyclists and pedestrians spend more money
  9. I wonder of they'll have ice skating there in the winter. What else can they put on in privilege square?
  10. Hand sanitiser - not suitable for human consumption...
  11. How do prices compare between Moxons and Sopers? I've not been to the latter so only compare Moxons with William Rose when for an expensive meal in and a beef steak is normally more tempting (and less expensive) than a fish steak for me!
  12. That video is hilarious. They've even put their own new barriers up between the planters to stop any kind of vehicle getting through. Someone should tell southwark cyclists.
  13. Isn't he moxons too? They often seem to help move the trailer with their van at the end of the market. As regards the shop itself, it is often quite midweek around lunchtime and onwards into the afternoon. You could always pop in then and ask them how to buy scallops and what they will charge.
  14. What happened metallic?
  15. This thread is about crime in the near future ED guy, a point that quite a few people seem to have missed. The status quo can be pinned on what has happened since 2016, fine. But what happens next is down to decisions being made today. And those decisions include >20% (on your figures) of the entire London Mayor's office budget cuts being taken from policing. Of the ?493m blackhole in city hall finances, the police and fire brigade are stumping up over 25%.
  16. "we are likely to see more cyclists mounting the pavements to get around parked vehicles." Time for a permanent filter on the pavements then.
  17. Of course I read it and the two paragraphs pertinent to this thread are as follows: Central government funding of the police: "Priti Patel said crime was up in the capital despite London having the ?highest police funding settlement in the country? and a cash increase of over ?190 million this year." Sadiq Khan funding of the police: "The Mayor of London has warned of potential cuts of almost ?110million to policing as a result of a collapse in City Hall?s income due to the economic impacts of coronavirus."
  18. Well Rishi Sunak has just made himself the most profligate chancellor the country has ever seen, helping many local people survive covid and stay off the dole.
  19. Alan, I am not blaming Sadiq Khan for government policy. I simply repeating his statement that he will cut the Met police budget by ?110 million next year. He is also going to cut the London fire brigade budget by ?25,000,000. This is from the London Mayor's own website. "Based on the current ?reasonable worst-case? estimate MOPAC will have to save ?45.5m in 2020-21 and then ?63.8m in 2021-22, as its contribution to the total ?493m savings required. For LFB it will be ?10m in 2020-21 and ?15m in 2021-22." So however bad you think crime is now in East Dulwich and surrounds, it is likely to get a lot worse under the current mayor
  20. If Sadiq Khan wins the mayoral election again it will get even worse sadly. He is planning to cut police spending by ?110,000,000.00 Shaun Bailey will stop those cuts if elected. . https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/priti-patel-accuses-sadiq-khan-threatening-cut-police-officers-a4516931.html
  21. I think the whole country is facing a very difficult period. Drug and alcohol abuse seem to be completely out of control and concomitant antisocial behaviour is rapidly escalating.
  22. I used to see James Barber quite a lot when he was elected.
  23. In east dulwich or otherwise? For me it was during the 2019 general election campaign, in east dulwich. I've not personally seen one since.

  25. Those Blackfriars / Victoria trains were horrendous in the morning though. I witnessed all sorts of lamentable behaviour in the fight to get on them, including seeing a man in a suit pushing a pregnant woman out of his way
