  1. East of Lordship Lane is definitely bearing the brunt of the CPZ fallout. Possibly from the West Peckham CPZ too now that the schools in that zone are back. I don't think it will be long before the clamour for an extension will whelm the council into a new consultation.
  2. It's not even safe to cycle these roads any more though! I walked up Calton Avenue about half an hour ago and it was fulthy with pollution due to being backed up with cars nearly all the way from Townley road down to so-called Dulwich Square. Nothing could get out because of the queue on Townley Road heading to EDG.
  3. That's lala land thinking though
  4. I'm not sure the council cabinet reshuffle is going to help. One of the new appointees has the title Member for Low Traffic
  5. I think the council have cottoned on to the domino effect now Jim Lad, and will respond much more rapidly to another new request, hence the partial implementation in the Melbourne Grove area and the heavy, heavy emphasis they put on the replies to "would you want a CPZ if the street next to you had one" last time round.
  6. Can we request the removal of a parking zone to put things back to how they were? That would be far better.
  7. There are a lot of people with fire pits, wood burning barbecues and wood burning stoves in east dulwich, all of which are far worse for pollution, especially the most dangerous NOx and small particulates pollution that kill people and give babies asthma, than vehicle emissions.
  8. rahrah all your twitter link shows is that the flower beds have had no impact at all apart from for the people of "Dulwich Square" . "Clean Air for Dulwich " are saying there that the best case scenario is that congestion is exactly the same as it was before. what a joke
  9. They can't change the phasing to favour a right turn onto EDG because it will slow down buses travelling in both directions on EDG and Red Post Hill. For someone so committed to this I would have thought you would have known that
  10. Lol. The shoe is on the other foot now...
  11. Yes that is my experience. The most dangerous behaviour I've seen on the roads on my bicycle has been from other cyclists
  12. The heavily antagonistic approach to these changes by certain factions and lobby groups won't help with that either Rockets. They've not really made any effort at all to win hearts and minds on this.
  13. Lordship Lane & nearly all surrounding side roads are now chockablock with parking refugees from Melbourne Grove and West Peckham
  14. Would also add that when ever I cycle it's the other cyclists who are the most terrifying road users. I've had far more near misses with lycra clad crazies riding right on my wheel to get a tow, or trying to overtake at a pinch point, or going through a red light at high speed, than I've had with pseudo military vehicles, or even just civilian cars or lorries. A couple of times I've even had other cyclists lean on me as I've rounded a bend. Some of them are awful road hogs and I really think it's time for mandatory licences for cyclists in London now.
  15. It looks like the redevelopment will be very attractive - much better than what is there now. https://ayleshamcentreconsultation.co.uk/
  16. Are you really convinced that the MPs for this area (Harriet Harman and Helen Hayes) are going to support the government and need to be persuaded otherwise?
  17. I actually lived there for a long time and the road network was a dream compared to here. One parking permit zone across all of RBKC means you can park wherever you like / need to and there were always enough spaces but no problems with commuters You can get out of London very quickly to head west, southwest and north . Getting south / south east took longer but it's hardly an easy journey from here Public transport was also very good so it was really quite easy to leave the car at home for most journeys, whereas public transport here is dreadful. Thinking about it more, maybe it's time for me to move back up that way.
  18. If only they had built those roads. You can see how West and North London have prospered with the A4, A40 and A406 and how poorly South London has fared in comparison with the pathetic A205 and nothing else
  19. The council would have known they would not be able to impske any changes on the junction of EDG that affect the timing for buses heading south then west. It's the same stumbling block James Barber described on here when people asked why the junction at the other end of EDG could not be made safer for pedestrians
  20. It is not not picking at all ex dulwicher. The current mayor imposed the congestion charge decision. You cant possibky claim it was the tories because the Tory candidate or mayor says he will reverse it immediately if elected. All these problems on the road are the fault of our mayor and our council.
  21. Thanks Ex Duwlicher, the first TFL document confirms the proposal came form TFL which the mayor is in charge of : "On 15 May, we also announced our proposal to increase the congestion charge from ?11.50 to ?15 daily, extend the hours of operations to include evenings (up to 10pm) and weekends, temporarily close the residents? discount to new applicants and make other consequential changes. " "Our" being TFL / the Mayor.
  22. The government did not impose a condition that the congestion charge be increased to ?15, from 7am to 10pm 7 days a week, the Mayor chose those terms. During Lockdown: The Mayor also chose to cut capacity on the tubes by 70% The Mayor also chose not to charge the congestion charge up until the point TFL went bankrupt. The Mayor also chose not to charge people to use buses up until the point TFL went bankrupt. The Mayor also chose not to suspend free travel for pensioners up until TFL went bust. The Mayor also chose to insist that people would die if we used the tube. Those are all facts not political arguments. Now he has to recoup all that lost revenue and one way of doing it is to try to force people back onto public transport by making it very difficult for them to use their cars.
  23. The Mayor is desperate for people to get back onto public transport because TFL has gone bankrupt on his watch. (They won't though because the Mayor also said that people will die if they travel on the tube).
  24. less and less so
  25. We ended up with this small cluster to create a corridor so that people could cycle from 418 chinese restaurant to Kwik Fit.
