  1. Very hard to get there Ken. Probably an hour on the bus at the moment and again nowhere to park the car
  2. It's impossible to get to Proud Sow or ScotchMeats now. Flock and Herd always has a massive queue to. The others you mention are all quite inaccessible from East Dulwich due to lack of parking,
  3. Perhaps they could also give away a free copy of the highway code to all the cyclists having their bokes tagged.
  4. Good luck with that!!
  5. There have been quite a few elections since the "2015 manifesto"
  6. If you want to prevent this you'll need to come up with something more substantive (and factual) than " it poses a health issue"
  7. "No one is voting against private cars, that's not what the issue is here." The council has explicitly stated that they intend to eliminate ownership of private cars and that the only two weapons they have against private car ownership are 1) road closures and 2) parking controls. This is exactly what the issue is here The only bit of your sentence that is correct is that no one is voting for this.
  8. That response is really quite disappointing. Flies in the face of what Mcash said they would do to listen to people.
  9. These closed roads might end up like some of those estates - a bit desolate and occasionally really quite dangerous with no passing traffic
  10. It's an issue I raised on the local councillor's thread and he said this Leaves, litter etc Sadly, cuts to the council finances has meant there has been an overall reduction in street cleaning. However, there is some flexibility to redirect the existing resources if there are places which we think are in particular need of more attention. Please let me know.
  11. The other point about these not being school streets is that the displaced traffic queues outside the schools all day long while the pupils are sat there in the middle of the pollution. What's the point of making a clean corridor for them to walk / cycle along to spend all day in a school that is surrounded by stationary traffic? It's illogical and doesn't explain the motivation behind these particular schemes at all. That motivation was divulged more obviously in the recent transport plan where the council admitted they want to eliminate private car ownership in southwark and the only tools they have to achieve that are road closures and CPZs.
  12. Some of those cost ?60 per year!!! Would be cheaper to club together with other residents and buy an old van, park that on the road and keep your bikes locked up inside there.
  13. legalalien, I've asked James McAsh on his thread about removing / replacing the now incorrect sign to Dulwich at the junction of East Dulwich Road and Peckham Rye that would lead people to drive unnecessarily through Goose Green ward (this one ) and he said "I will look into this."
  14. rah rah do you have the explanatory notes to accompany that? There's no way 86% of the fuel I put in my car just drips out of the engine.
  15. The cyclists will be thrilled
  16. James if you really only want to deal with Goose Green Ward then this whole thread should be in the Lounge. You've posted this on the East Dulwich Forum in the ED issues thread. If you want to restrict discussion to a local part of ED for local people then you should be doing that in the Lounge!
  17. Of course Matham Grove is because unless yo want to go out by the South Circular there is no other way to drive from the west of Lordship Lane to get to east dulwich
  18. Hi James I've noticed an erroneous road sign that is no doubt diverting cars through Goose Green ward unnecessarily causing additional congestion and pollution in our community. It's here: https://goo.gl/maps/4fedfTcdAVukkFr97 There is no way to get to Dulwich by turning left there and driving for 1.5 miles. Please can you arrange for the sign to be corrected, either by updating the distance or the direction of traffic in light of all the closed roads. Many thanks
  19. " most are there for a reason even if its not obvious to you at the time." The council have admitted the reason is to eliminate private car ownership
  20. I would agree with that on condition that they also insisted cyclists were registered and licensed so they could be penalised for all the red light jumping and pavement cycling they do.
  21. Congratulations Jocky and good luck with your new venture
  22. That report isn't that helpful to your campaign Malumbu. Their preferred alternative of car sharing (to get everyone involved in the survey to the same workplace) isn't relevant in Dulwich because bare few of the cars have the same (or close) start and end points. Their second best option (increasing public transport) isn't even on the table here. And finally their third (and your first) choice - encourage cycling, was rejected outright, under any circumstance, by 82% of respondents.
  23. Is the right turn filter also 'temporary'?
  24. I'd guess it's a bonfire, given the date today
  25. It was never a cycle lane, it was an entry to an advanced cycle stop line box.
