  1. Both labours at kings. Both of them complicated for reasons not the fault of the hospital. The second one i probably would have died if i wasn?t at kings which is a major trauma centre. We all want lovely natural births, but the test of a hospital is how they respond if things go wrong and for that kings is unbeatable. Good luck xxx
  2. Most nannies in ED will expect between ?12 - ?15 an hour net based on 2 children sharing (more for additional kids). This is net you pay to them each week, then you pay taxes on top. So your half would be ?6 an hour at the lower end, plus taxes would bring it up to about ?8.50 an hour in total. It's an expensive option, even sharing, but has worked very well for us. 25 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays) is also standard.
  3. I reckon it's all about being on a tube line if you want better transport as with the train if there's a cancellation or you miss one you are straight away pushed back 10 / 15 mins until the next one. Then there are the issues with congestion at London Bridge. You could do Forest Hill or Sydenham, then at least you're on the overground. Or else south bit of the northern line to be further south than the morning crushes. Maybe Tooting. Problem is if you want an area as nice as dulwich but on the tube you're going to have to pay ???. Anyway you're not the only one who thinks about moving - I've taken to getting the bus to work every day as at least it's a vaguely reliable commute although it takes me an hour and a half each way. 3 hours a day round commute or 15 hours a week is kind of soul crushing when you think about it.
  4. "You don't consider it threatening - or at least suspicious - behaviour?" << Not enough I'd call the police about it! Perhaps the person was cold. Perhaps they had a facial deformity or scarring or a regrettable facial tattoo they were embarassed about and wanted to hide. Perhaps they had an injury which was covered in bandages under the balaclava. Perhaps the person was a fundamentalist muslim who's burka was in the wash and she needed to cover her face to nip out to the shops. Either way I don't think the good residents of East Dulwich need to be contemplating vigilante action any time soon :-)
  5. I didn't realise it was against any law to wear a balaclava.
  6. PS: I'm in the winter babies club with my eldest and we have had SUCH fun! These clubs are a brilliant supplement to NCT etc. Let's make summer 2017 the best ever xx
  7. Hello summer babies ladies! I am due with my second in June xx
  8. Maybe the police know something we don't which is why they are not prioritising it. Seems to me if they believe there was genuinely a kidnapper roaming south east London looking for kids to steal this would be the Met Police's number one priority, national news type stuff. Which indicates to me maybe there is more to this story.
  9. Hi we live on upland road too and were burgled in September, also whilst we were asleep upstairs. The lock was 'popped' on the front door which wasn't double locked, all very quiet, in and out pretty quickly it seems. We now double lock the door at night so if anyone wanted to get in they'd have to make such a racket we'd wake up. Anyways seems there are loads of burglaries on upland road, probably the same gang given the police drop all the burglary cases in 24 hours as it's too hard to investigate. Our car which they took showed up last week so maybe there will be some clues to your burglary too.
  10. Touche ?clat for under your eyes. Instantly brightens your whole face, even with no other make up on. Total essential - must be the YSL version, the cheaper imitations from boots are not as good. MAC for any blushers. If you want any make up tips, there are a bunch of youtube tutorials by a lady called Lisa Eldridge. She's in her 40s and is a famous make up artist. She does the make up on her own face and recommends brands so you can see how they look on. My husand laughed at me watching makeup tutorials online but seriously, they are really good.
  11. We did this last year and lived in it throughout. It was awful (sorry) and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, however we were also in the position of not being able to afford to rent at the same time. So - top tips: - Keep one clean room to hide out in - Make one room a temporary kitchen sounds like you have those top 2 nailed. Next few also good for us: - If you don't have one already get a tumble dryer. You'll be doing laundry constantly as everything gets dusty and dirty, and if you leave laundry drying in the house it'll get dusty. Even hanging laundry in our garden it got dust on it. - We used a slow cooker a lot. If you don't have one already they're really cheap to buy and save on washing up and mess being able to cook one pot meals - did a lot of things which would sretch 2 nights like chilli con carne (in burrito wraps with salad and guacamole one night, with rice the next) or braised beef (with mash one night, with tomatoes and basil and pasta the next)... you get the idea. To be fair your temporary kitchen looks a lot more sophisticated than ours was but it's still no fun cooking in the mess and chaos. - Furniture elsewhere in the house cover with dust sheets where you can. We also had a door separating the kitchen from rest of house but the dust still crept everywhere and we had to bin the sofas which had been in our lounge in the end. If you have carpets elsewhere even upstairs I'd advise covering them... you won't notice the dust at the time but when our kitchen was all done we noticed the rest of the house looking quite mucky in comparison.
  12. I also can't make the first two weekends in September but keen to meet any other time - whenever / wherever (as a first time mum I don't yet have many constraints with other little ones :-) )
  13. Hi everyone, I'm due Feb 1st with my first - excited to meet up with other parents in the area!
  14. I'm expecting my first in February and would love to meet any other expecting parents in the area. I noticed Winter babies is for December / January babies, but having looked at this year just gone spring babies was March / April / May. Where do the February babies go? Thanks!
