  1. I would keep a close eye. My 4 yr old likes to type in his name which is fine as he keeps on printing places in Google Maps. Obviously he has got bored with this as on his latest search he somehow managed to find a pole dancing club in Australia with his name.! Suffice to say i quickly pulled him away from the pc (screaming) as he couldn't understand why I didn't let him click on the link!!
  2. You can save yourself ?4 if you go to the Barbers behinf FH Station.
  3. Hi I would suggest that you e-mail the company at this address. Don't bother with the store. I've had to complain about the state of the recycling facilities. The only reason it was finally tidied up was that I contacted Customer Services! Keep complaints separate- that is don't complain about this and rats in the same e-mail! [email protected],
  4. Hi James, Is it possible to have a jelly babies session on a Sat pm? On Saturday there were teenagers in the pool along with younger kids which was a bit intimidating for the younger ones. Also 2 other observations- pool was 29 degrees and still felt too cold (what will it feel like when the weather drops?). Secondly only 1 junior member of staff on reception and she seemed unable to cope with all the visitors. Thanks,
  5. Whatever brand you choose one recommendation that I would defintely make is stock up big time when Sainsbury's have a half price sale on their baby range- just make sure you have somewhere to put it all!

  7. Sign up to KGB Deals and My City. They do pamper packages at upto 70% off.
  8. Well I don't know if this would appeal to you daughter but we took our one for a pastry at Maison Beateaux in Soho. Whilst there we chatted to Tanya the owner. She told us that she also doubles up as the (art dealer) agent for Noel Fiedling! The upstairs and basement are currently exhibiting his work which has a Bryan Ferry focus! It didn't cost a penny to look and she happily put on a video which he had also created. Our daughter was memarised and all it cost us was the price of a pastry!
  9. Try The Grand Union in Camberwell Grove. They don't charge for hire and it is a vey nice venue.
  10. Thank you- Thought it quicker to ask here than to google "opening times"+"east dulwich delivery office"!
  11. Hi Does anyone know the above for the DO in Silvester Rd? Thanks.
  12. aHi I would also suggest moving to Brockely- or any other stop on the Overground. I took the train to Stoke Newington (via Dalston) for the 1st time in years and it took only a hour. Already making plans to go to Rotherhite- Brunel/ Surrey Quays- cinema & bowling and of course Hoxton. Looking forward to the Open Cinema starting again in Dulwich Park soon. I see the cafe in the Rye was doing the Tempest last sat eve and I have plans to visit the purple cow on the South Ban- Can't think of many places you can do all this.
  13. There used to be one run by Alia at St Stephens on Barry Rd
  14. Is it also suitable for young children (3 years)?
  15. What about the Plough?
  16. Blue Mountain have been aware of these restrictions for at least 8 years but have ignored them. I know as I lived next door to them and complained at the time that they were not observing their licence. Great to hear that the Council is finally doing something!
  17. Hi Our son goes there and loves it. On Friday I had to ask a neighbour to go and pick him up as I got the time wrong for them closing on Fridays. The lady who runs it rung me to say that they wouldn't give him to somone they hadn't met and would wait for me to get home- which is very reassuring.
  18. Update sent today As new Cabinet member for Culture, Leisure, Sport and the Olympics I am very pleased to be able to send you this update about the progress of Dulwich Leisure Centre. I look forward to hearing any feedback from you about the new developments. The refurbishment project is proceeding well and there are a number of interesting new developments since the last communication you received, in December 2009. One point of particular note is that access for people with mobility and visual problems has been significantly improved across the site. From the moment you arrive, step-free access, lowered counters, high contrast surfaces, dedicated accessible changing and clear wayfinding signage, all contribute to a centre that is now inclusive to all. The centre will be reopening in two phases: Phase 1 ? Pool area refurbishment, relocated main reception, and studios This is a very exciting time as we prepare the final few months before reopening. The first phase has seen the steel frame of the new building transformed into a welcoming reception, with light?filled dance studios on the first floor. The refurbished pool area has been brought up to 21st century standards of leisure provision while at the same time optimising many of the building?s much-loved Victorian features. Here are a few highlights of what has been achieved over the last six months: ? The pool area has been completely re-tiled, and the new pool hall roof (insulated and re-glazed) now permits optimum natural light throughout the area ? Wet and dry changing areas have been relocated and entirely re-configured with more space, contemporary fittings and family-sized lockers ? There is a new pool-side, glass-fronted, seated viewing area for visitors to safely watch the activity taking place in the water ? For the first time there will be a seated waiting area in reception with caf? provision ? A much-requested cr?che facility with soft-play area has been reinstated in a larger location ? Roof mounted solar thermal panels have been installed to pre-heat water and reduce subsequent demand on the boilers ? The air handling system features carbon dioxide sensing equipment to determine the number of people using a defined area and adjusts the fan speed of the air handling to match ? The pool has been fitted with a UV filter to remove the majority of pollutants and microbes etc. This will reduce chlorine levels and improve water conditions for all swimmers ? Low energy light fittings have been installed throughout and have been coupled, where possible, with sensors that turn off lights when the room is not being used Phase 2 ? Gym refurbishment and temporary provision The good news is that we have been able to provide gym provision throughout the refurbishment. In Phase 2, (starting in August 2010) we will continue to do so by temporarily relocating gym facilities to the first floor studios in the new reception building in Crystal Palace Road. This will allow the Phase 2 work within the gym and current entrance building to begin. Details will be available on the website and at the centre nearer the time. New Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are now available on the Southwark web site (see link route below) and additional paper copies are at the centre. If your question is not answered there, please use the online form on the web site or the address below and we will respond to you directly. You can also still see previous communications from the refurbishment project by visiting our web site www.southwark.gov.uk/investinginleisure on the left hand side you will see a tab for the Dulwich Leisure Centre specific web page, and you will find earlier documents on that page. If you wish to be posted a copy please request this from the address overleaf. Southwark Council is committed to providing high quality, accessible swimming and leisure facilities to all residents and is making this ?6.1 million investment for the wellbeing of the population now and for years to come. Yours sincerely Councillor Veronica Ward Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Sport & Olympics 4th Floor North Southwark Council PO Box 64529 London SE1P 5LX Office Tel: 020 7525 7226/7159
