Although I agree with above posts. I am concerned that the majority of responsible dog owners will be penalised for the actions of the minority. I do feel some "professional " dog walkers walk far too many dogs and when they meet up with their fellow dog walkers the number of dogs becomes intimidating even to a dog lover like myself, also it's impossible to control that number of dogs and notice every single poo. I would be in agreement for council to limit number of dogs any one person can walk, but against banning off lead exercise. The Animal Welfare Act stipulates dogs require off-lead running, if dogs are not allowed freedom to exercise then this leads to more frustration and agression. It goes without saying that owners need to have a recall on their dog.

Although I would have thought if someone was catnapping the cat they wouldn't be advertising the fact on a local forum. I agree its upsetting when people assume your friendly cat is lost, I've had the same in past with my sociable cat. But I'd rather people showed concern and checked it out then just ignore a situation. Also just to highlight if people are not aware, there is someone going around London killing cats and the advice given has been to keep them in at night.

No kidkruger not "a heavy claim", as you so insensitively state. The dog WAS poisoned as confirmed by a vet, the op was kindly informing all dog owners to be aware. Perhaps you don't have animals so wouldn't be bothered about wanting a warning

6 dogs stolen from dog walker in Forest Hill
d walker replied to heather_wardle's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
Good news, two more of these dogs (Errol & Pia ), have both been handed in to two different vets. Just two more from this latest theft to find, lets hope they too get handed in. But two dogs from previous theft over a month ago ( Nina & Mattie ) still need to be found. We must not forget them and keep looking and passing information on. -

Delainie, do call 101, just give the information you've given here, better safe than sorry, alternatively alert dog lost, this does need checking out, even if it's not them. Their owners may not be looking on this site, but definitely I'd say they are linked in with dog lost. And yes , this is the third stolen van with dogs. Lets hope now the message has got through to dog walkers to take more care. -

I don't really care if it was planned or opportunistic. Would they leave their iPad, mobile, wallet in their vans whilst they just popped out for a few seconds? It was known widely that a month ago a similar event occured. Why are they taking such risks with dogs that are irreplaceable, unlike the other items that can be replaced? My heart breaks for the dogs and owners. -

Yes, whilst I agree its criminals targeting dogs, the dog walkers are not securing their vans, so it makes them sitting targets. Please dog walkers DO NOT leave your vans unlocked. These poor dogs mean the world to their owners. I really hope they are found ASAP. 2 dogs from previous van theft remain lost, i can't imagine what the owners are going through. -
Phlox- its because they are pets, many people on this thread, myself included, enjoy having cats as pets and the pleasure that comes with this. Hence why you see them! They're not just for working on farms. Having said that, at the moment, with this person killing them, it is worrying seeing them out at night.

Plant theft in Wood Vale last night
d walker replied to kojohn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There must have been a plant thief scouting the area last night. I had my lovely glazed window box stolen last night too. It was a present & looking lovely. Yes very sad that you cannot have pots etc in your front garden without having some thief take them. Wonder if they'll be for sale at some car boot? -

Although sadly KidKruger, people aren't speculating on dog walker behaviour. The facts are that the keys were left in the van's ignition hence an easy target for theft and that's why we now have 3 dogs missing. There are good and bad professional dog walking services, I see it myself on my daily walks with my dog. Some companies do pick up lots of dogs in vans, meaning some of the dogs spend a lot of time in the van, that's fine if the owners are aware and happy with this arrangement. Some dogs are walked in very large groups, again fine if owners know this and their dogs are confident to be in a large pack. My concern, and I could be wrong, is that owners are unaware of what goes on when they entrust their dog to a paid carer. -
I'm glad there are still flyers on Lordship Lane as the ones in Peckham Rye Park have been removed. These poor dogs have been missing for almost 3 weeks now. A professional dog walking company had their van stolen in SE27 with 5 dogs inside, this happened whilst the dog walker was in a house collecting another dog. Two of the dogs were dumped but as yet no sign of the other three. I know one of the owners and she is absolutely devastated as would any dog owner be in this situation. If people can pass on this information and keep a look out to get these dogs home where they belong.
