Council vehicles (parked illegally)
TheAllSeeingEye replied to TheAllSeeingEye's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Removing vehicles that are parked illegally makes more sense, rather than law-abiding citizens having to alter their plans. I wonder, out of interest, if the Southwark Parking Officers (or whatever they are called this week), would dare ticket a Southwark Cleaning vehicle whilst the driver got his bacon sandwich ?? I think not. -
Hi Is anyone else growing tired of the daily hold-up at the North Cross Road / Lordship Lane junction due to the variety of massive council vehicles parked illegally there ?? Not only a pain in the neck, but also parked illegally and dangerous for passing foot traffic. If you drive one, move it. Just an observation ...

Question about zones and fares
TheAllSeeingEye replied to Fi85's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I tend to find asking at the station the most sensible option ... you'll be there when you buy the ticket after all :-) -

Fair point, but ideally what we need is someone to pull their finger out and get the roadworks sorted so things can go back to normal.

terrible news about the 10year old girl, my thoughts are with her family. Peckhamgatecrasher, I can only make the assumption you do not drive. As you rightly say you cannot predict ... and in the time it takes to think, enter the junction, and then get to the other side, there are a million and one things that could happen that make your original decision to enter the box the wrong one, through no fault of your own. I know, as I was sitting there watching. Yes, I understand the Highway Code thank you, but as stated in my message before, you can enter the box, which is fairly large, looking ahead and expecting it to be clear, only for a bus to then stop unpredictably and back the traffic up. There are a lot of buses that run up and down that road, and the "bendy" ones are about a kilometre long ... Im sure this is some kind of ploy by the council to rake money in ... are bus stops about 50yards from traffic lights the safest option anyway ??

Anyone know if the yellow box junction is still raking the cash in in the meantime ?? My girlfriend got caught in it for all of 2seconds over the weekend and is panicking there's a ?60 fine coming her way ... due to the location of the bus stops you can quite easily drive through the lights thinking you're ok, then the bus suddenly stops and you end up trapped. Hardly your fault.

East Dulwich station (Ticket checks)
TheAllSeeingEye replied to Dog's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Forgive me if Im being stupid, but when not just employ someone to sell tickets, and have barriers, rather than pay someone a far greater sum to do random checks and distract 6-8 police officers from real crimes ... like speeding ;-) -

TheAllSeeingEye replied to Flapjack's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip

Southwark Parking Wardens - setting a poor example
TheAllSeeingEye replied to Gimme's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There are rules against this, it was on Watchdog 12-18months back, just need to get support behind it ... ilke with bank charges etc, a charge is understandable, but the amount they stretch it to .. in excess of ?446 in this example ... for what they have done work wise, and what you have done "wrong-wise" is ridiculous. I mean, people get fined less for criminal offences !! -

I'll say ?240. Jobsworths all of them, who actually even applies for a job like that, let alone gets out of bed every morning to do it ... -

Cat killed by dog on Oakhurst Grove - 22 November (Lounged)
TheAllSeeingEye replied to Meredith's topic in The Lounge
arr yes, fair point indeed, well observed. All the same, a concern :-) -
No insurance in the land will cover "loss" as otherwise people would just lose things on purpose everytime they wanted something new.

Im more concerned about spelling and grammar for someone who is a teacher of primary school children :-) -
Ban dogs from Ondine Road, this would reduce the problem Im sure :-)

So the police basically admitted it a crime but not a crime worth them looking into, even though a guilty culprit could be found fairly easily via CCTV ?? bizarre. Still, seeing as they are focusing so much on violent crimes I feel re-assured I can walk the streets completely safely now ... yes, sarcasm.

maybe Im an old cynic, maybe not, but ultimately these things can have a "greater good". I hope no-one is injured too seriously, but if it means that the "clowns" involved in the incident change their ways long-term then maybe, just maybe, the world might be a better place for us all, them included. Better it didnt happen in the first place sure, but if it does lets hope it has a positive impact to those involved.

Roads (Roadworks in East Dulwich)

NO NO NO !!! Pedestrians do not have priority on road junctions, they have priority on pavements. More importantly, why are we putting glorified speed humps on corners, is it possible to exceed 30mph on those corners even if you wanted to ?? I would rather my hard earned tax money was spent on productive things like prevent todays stabbings with more police officers on the street. -
Admin, I would also ask that freedom of speech is allowed ... no-one is saying anything harmful, no more gossip or hearsay on here than there is on any other thread after all. But yes, if you saw something then pass it on to the right people.
