Hi all, I volunteer for an organisation called Drugsand.me and we run workshops for parents of teenagers who are wondering how to speak to their kids about drugs. I grew up in E Dulwich myself and from my experience growing up in London I was exposed to drugs like cigarettes, weed and alcohol much earlier than might have been the case had I grown up outside of the city. Luckily I had an open and honest relationship with my parents which meant that I could talk to them about these experiences and navigate a safe path through this difficult landscape. This event focuses specifically on techniques and ways of talking to young people, so as to open a dialogue and empower them to make informed and educated decisions. Hi, I'm a journalism student doing a research project on Dawson's Heights - I guess you could say that it's a kind of social history. I'm looking to speak to current and ex-residents of the building. In particular, I'd be really interested to speak to people that have lived/live in a council/housing association owned flat, people that bought their flat using right to buy, and people who are looking to buy in the building/have bought in the building privately in the last 5 years. My interest in the building stems from an interest in the history of social housing generally, but Dawson's Heights in particular for it's interesting background (designed by architect Kate Mackintosh in the late 60s/70s) and also because I grew up nearby and have visited the estate many times. Looks forward to hearing from you!
