Vastly inflated commercial event in P Rye Park
Jess85 replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sounds a fantastic event! I hope the upcoming events on Brockwell Park are as well managed and peoples concerns are eased. A lot of hype from fellow HH residents, It's actually quite disheartening. Well run events (fingers crossed) in SE London are terrific news. -
Scotch meats is good and lots of choice but given it's not organic (?) I don't understand why everything is so much more expensive?

Camber Sands or Broadstairs for Day Trip ?
Jess85 replied to IvySnail's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Found Camber a little shabby personally... -
I've been going to the Polished on Rosendale road for years and it's wonderful! Lovely little beauty parlour, definitely somewhere to go and get pampered (with a coffee or glass of Prosecco). Treatments are really good, it's not "cheap" but considering the demographic, value is spot on. Glad there's one opening in ED, will be visiting both.

See the local football clubs piece in Time out yesterday? Good to see DHFC in there, anything that can raise awareness!

Hello, Does anyone have (recent) experience of using Neighbourhood Midwives? We will be TTC soon and thought this may be a good option someway between Totally Private care and purely NHS. I'm in WD so Kings I believe is my closest option. I really like the idea of having the same Midwife throughout and also more flexibility in terms of scans/appointments etc. Which package did you go for if so? Any thoughts much appreciated! Thanks

Went a few weeks ago and would echo Tarafitness, the staff were useless! Most young (college age)with zero common sense or experience. I appreciate everyone starts somewhere but how dozy this lot were was shocking. 20 minutes and 2 reminders to come and wipe a dirty table and when you do, bring a bone dry paper towel to do so? Should have done it myself. This wasn't a one off, lots of confused looks. Poor customer service, will go elsewhere with a bit of enthusiasm

The Dulwich bakery on the Corner of South Croxted Road (WD) sells it for about ?4 , made locally and it's Delicious!

We are WD not ED, But still have found that commuting has gotten gradually worse over the past 4 years we have been here. People seemed to have moved this way out in their droves (perhaps priced out of the claphams, balhams and such) which is of course fine, but the local transport and infrastructure has fallen way behind. Daily journeys are now painful, it's hit or miss whether you get on the train/bus/make it into work on time etc. Next year, trains will no longer run from WD to London bridge. I cannot understand why. Meaning the Victoria line train trains will become even more crowded. Moving further out I'm not sure is the answer. Maybe you get more for your money, but if the journey is horrendously unreliable and long, you won't ever be in your lovely property to enjoy it! The worsening commute is one of the reasons why we will look to leave in the next year I think.

They are bigger than people may expect and the fruitcake comparison seems fitting! Lovely dogs but hard work

Sorry, me again. Just bumping in case anyone now has any more I can take off their hands? Obviously happy to pop and collect. Thank you!

Hello, Happy New Year! I have a favor to ask for my Friends Wedding. They are collecting empty Champagne bottles to use, I suspect, as table centerpieces or something. We need TWO of the following: *Laurent Perrier *Krug *Dom Perignon *Heidsick & co Monopole *Laurent Perrier Rose *Grand Siecle *Mumm *Bollinger *Moet I am trying to collect these over the next few weeks. Happy to collect when suitable. If you have any or will do impending, please do let me know, I'd be very grateful :) Jess

Agree with OP, transport a joke south of the river. Our daily commute has gotten so bad over the past 3 years, we are contemplating upping sticks. The trains are hugely overcrowded, if they turn up and aren't cancelled.. If they turn up, they are late. The buses too are now incredibly packed even early morning, we are lucky to get on. I'd love to cycle but personally I would not do so in London due to the pollution and I'd be worried about being knocked off etc, however safe a cyclist I was (that's my personal opinion, appreciate a lot of people do it and enjoy it!). We pay a lot for our monthly pass and it's just not worth it anymore. We are in WD and I believe trains will no longer go direct to Black friars from 2018. This is such a step back and a decision I really cannot understand, that train is packed!? Those people will now pour onto the Victoria trains which are already, as I mentioned, horrendous! Rubbish!

Ahh thank you for clarifying Admin, I will try and post n the correct place next time! Thanks ed_pete, shall have a look

Thanks DMW23, will have a look! Not sure why my post has been moved, I'm not looking for an ED business, restaurant or trade, whilst the posts asking for local pub and dentist recommendations stay in lounge...

Hello, hoping to have a drive out this weekend to a large garden center, which has plenty of xmas decorations and displays on etc. We have some lovely little garden centers locally, but they are very small (walk around in 5 minutes). Looking for something a bit more "afternoon out" to go and load up on festive bits and bobs. Have a car so happy/expecting to drive out maybe an hour or so in the Kent or Surrey direction perhaps. Thank you!

Blue mountain is lovely! Was really not impressed with Toasted..

I go with serve guests firsts but everyone waits until all served before eating. IMO starting before everyone else is bad manners (IMO!) but questioning the host is just as bad!

There's a > stables on the South Circular (near The > Harvester), no idea what it's like... Yes, Lady Norwood, I have posted on there and keep an eye on the forum, just my personal opinion, the ED forum is a lot more lively so thought I'd try here and so far so good! Thank you for your suggestion, I'll have a look. Thanks Artful Dogger!

Evening! I'm actually in WD, but it's a little "snoozy" on the forum sometimes.. I'm looking to get back into riding and wondering if anyone can recommend a yard that is not a million miles away?! I'm resigned to the fact i'll most likely have to travel out south towards surrey or Kent. Ideally I'd like something to loan as opposed to lessons but being open minded. I work in Earls Court so catch the Orpington train from Victoria home. Really missing the lifestyle. Thanks in advance for any input x
