Technology - Creative/Adventure options for 9 year old
stellakis replied to stellakis's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you both, yes we have Minecraft (& yes, they watch it on Youtube! haha).. will look into Monster Physics and the other suggestions. Thanks again. -
Hi, wondered if anyone has any recommendations for any apps or PS4 games that aren't mindless 'shoot em up' style games. Outside and creativity are obviously the preferred options, but for when we allow them technology it would be great to get some ideas for games / apps that make them use their brains! Thank you :)

This cat has been hanging around Kimberley Avenue for weeks now, it seems to want to move in with me (& no doubt several others). Assuming it's a lost cat, but with no tag/collar hoping the forum will find it's owner. I can't and don't want to keep it in my house as am allergic to cats plus don't want to encourage it but it really seems to want a home! Have attached some pics, if you've lost this cat it's hanging around Kimberley Avenue being very cute.

Blocked external drain - Any tips?
stellakis replied to stellakis's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks all! We did our best without help and then discovered you can call your water supplier(ie Thames water), and they came and sorted it promptly and for free. Great service. and What a relief. Hope you all had a great Christmas x -
I think the excesses of guests and fatty foods over the Xmas season has taken its toll on our drains, does anyone have any advice? It's the outside garden drain that keeps backing up, I've poured some drain clear down but to no avail, wondered if anyone has any suggestions or contacts for reliable plumbers that can help please? Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has any useful advice about how to solve nightmare/bad dream issues. My son is nearly 6 and says: "he's scared of going to sleep, worried about closing his eyes, doesn't want to sleep, wants me to stay in his room, wants me to sleep in his bed", etc etc. The trouble is i'm not convinced he's having nightmares, I know he has a vivid imagination, but also know he's clever enough to 'play' us. I've tried asking him what he's afraid of, reassuring him that we're nearby, checking on him frequently - but this is where it gets frustrating as he's taking advantage of this. It can take an hour and several checks for him to fall asleep. He's also now waking more in the night. I have a lot of patience generally, but at night i'm ready to relax and my patience is wearing thin... Does anyone have any helpful advice or suggestions please? Thanks!

Is there a good time to book flights?
stellakis replied to stellakis's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thankyou all. Will report back with any luck I may (or may not) have. -
I realise flights are expensive during school holidays, but wondered if there's a 'better time' to book them? We're flying to Malaga for the May half term, flights have just been released but seem extortionate. Is there a fluctuation throughout the year, ie will they ever decrease for a period of time? Thanks!

Toys r us possibly, old kent road. -
Hi, I'm just serving the same old same old for dinner to my boys. It's very frustrating indeed, however being relaxed about it is very important. I was pointed in the direction of a website www.childfeedingguide.co.uk which has been pretty helpful. Regards school dinners, I'm persisting as much as anything because I don't want to make the same fail safe packed lunch every morning. I ask my son to at least try the school dinners, and something new every evening meal. If I'm happy with his progress I reward him with a packed lunch on a Thursday. I also try and explain the benefits of each food group, the most successful phrase being, "eating such and such (protein food for instance) makes you stronger". I printed the eatwell plate too. Good luck everyone!

Whitstable is lovely, and pretty creative. Not sure about museums, you'd need to look into it. Hope they have fun. -
Southwark Primary School Admissions for Sept 2013
stellakis replied to James Barber's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, I haven't got a place at judith Kerr, but was emailed this... EFA, CfBT and the other parties to the transaction will issue a joint press release in the next few days, and until then I'm not able to announce full details about the site. I'm sorry about that. However, I can say that we will be opening in the Herne Hill / SE24 area. A complete package about the building, grounds, and our plans for them, including pictures, will be on our website as soon as possible. We'll hope to organise some site tours during the summer. Hope this sheds some light for those who need it. -
