  1. I am in the same position Dec baby 2010 but for some reason thought they could not start school until they are 5? Very pleased to know I am wrong and they will take in 4 year old going to be 5 in Dec....phew!
  2. We used heater all last winter in sons bedroom and noticed no effect om electricity bill. As previous poster said it just was set to take the room from very low teens to 17-18oc during the night. Can be set on thermostat so seems pretty energy efficient to me. Might be different if you use all day. Lots of reviews can be found online
  3. Its tomorrow morning from 9am.....when I am supposed to be in work! Has anyone done this before? how long does it take, is it worth getting there before 9am to queue? Thanks
  4. Second the gnocchi idea, its a regular in this house. Another idea if you have leftover spuds (or even boil a few extra to keep in the fridge) is to peel and mash them, add a finely slice spring onion (if you have one) drain and add a tin of salmon or tuna. Also at this point I add, finely chopped, any herbs that are lurking in the fridge drawer. Roll into fishcake and fry for a few minutes either side. My son loves these.
  5. Thanks for all the tips just not sure how he would cope on empty stomach over 6-7 hr drive...we are thinking of milk first thing and leaving it 3 hrs before heading off (time to get exhausted on the beach)after that just dry toast?? many changes of clothes are packed for the car
  6. Our 20 month old toddler suffers from quite bad car sickness,,trips are generally planned around 2-3 hrs after milk in the morning or before any breakfast at all! We are in Cornwall this week, the trip down was not great, he was sick before we even got through central london and again just before we arrived at our house. We are travelling back tomorrow and wondered if anyone out there had any amazing tips/tricks to deal with it? Thanks
  7. Went this morning for the first time and 20 month old was so happy with toy selection that we even had a quick scan of the papers and ate our yummy sausage baps in peace! A really lovely place Anyone know what toddler events do they have on? anything on a Thurs or Fri? Thanks
  8. Just to add, had Liene and the team around to clean, fix and stain wooden deck. They did a great job at a great price Susan
  9. I have to say I poopooed the drier that my sensible other half had,,we used it about 1 a year over the last 10 years but always kept it just in case. However this past winter with small boy and vomiting bugs it was a life saver esp for drying Grobags and sheets (we had long week/weekends of multiple bed changes). Ours is a simple plug in one, yes I am sure it eats energy but is used in emergencies only
  10. Sorry gillandjoe this statement (as many working mothers on here know) is inaccurate What gets me going though is that we have expensive state subsidized childcare available to working mums Please explain because I work partime and currently 70% of my salary is chilcare!
  11. Hazelnunhead, whats the Italian place? Thanks
  12. Thanks srisky, was kust wondering if it could be got to do with weak grip. Apparently some toddlers need help to develop it, toys etc. Anyone have any experience of this?
  13. Was hoping/plucking up courage to come but himself is working late (again) so no can do : (
  14. How old was your toddler when they started feeding themselves (all the time using cutlery) My LO is 18 months and apprently by now they should be able to feed themselves using a spoon. He can and does but very quickly gets bored and resorts to using his hands (nice, yes I blame his father!). Just wondering if its a 'grip' issue with him which apprently some babies have (difficulty holding spoons etc) Thanks
  15. Sorry just have to say with this post you have probably done the estate agents job for them! Love the garden
  16. Following on from the post about Greece...it must be holiday time. Any tips for a toddler in Granada city and the Lecrin valley to the south - museums, restaurants, beaches, toddler friendly wine-bars! Much appreciated
  17. Re. aircon unit, will be interested to hear what you bought, told hubby would be ?100 or less, argos etc oh dear Re. sauna...should I bring fizz?! Glad tonight is better x
  18. Tess is fabulous.....our group still (18 months on) talk about how great she is x
  19. I feel your pain, we have the boy in an attic extension room as well (he was originally above the kitchen but basic things like opening the oven door woke him so at 10 mths to the attic he went)..the problem with these rooms is they go from hot to cool and visaversa from one day to the next. Up until last week I had an oil heater in his room to keep it at a steady 17oC overnight. Tonight and last night its currently 27oC. I gave up with blackout blind curtains etc (they just didnt keep the light out but are still up) and in the end cut out blackout lining to the exact size of the window and tacked it in place ( am proud to say you could develop photos in there now). I do feel lining the windows def helps keep the room cool, also keeping curtains ect closed during the day and having any windows (non sun facing open that you can) all been said here before...sorry have no magic bullet on this one! I have to agree with above post we will have to buy an aircon unit if this summer continues this way (small price to pay IMO!). have it on for last few hours of the day to cool the room down before bed Hope tonight is better for you all Hugs xxxxx
  20. Excellent, anyone know if a small maclaren is a really bad idea (the boy currently really dislikes the very expensive Ergo sling we bought!!!) Thanks
