My elderly relatives live in a small terrace of four houses which is set back from the road. Their nextdoor neighbour owns the path, they have right of access. Another neighbour immediately infront has a large tree in their back garden. In 1997 the tree was 6ft fence height. The tree has grown so big that my relatives can no longer see down the path,or into the street, the upstairs is gloomy. The tree canopy obscures the whole of the top of their house including the roof, and spreads the whole width of the path, putting the shrubs there in the shade, the telephone lines are entangled in it?. The roots of the tree are lifting the path up? The services run underneath. We have requested numerous times to various owners of the tree that it is pruned to no avail. Didn't want it to turn into one of those expensive court hedge things !! What can I now do?

Hmmm, but to lock up people for ever has been branded inhumane also. There is a bit of a to do over it in the European court of Human Rights with convicted terrorists - that "no chance of parole" is wrong? And there is the cost, why should all the law abiding pay millions to support the worst in our society, so they are given a clean bed, three meals a day, a snooker table, law degrees, computer games ,,,, whilst an ex-serviceman or other poor soul isn't? Whilst I am asking some rational people here ... what of sex offenders and trying to rehabilitate them? Im not sure its possible to change someones sexuality, thats what they are. It would be a ridiculous suggestion to say that homosexuals could be changed, so why do we think paedophiles can change?

Humane? but do they deserve the same peaceful deaths? Someone who is terminally ill perhaps deserves a painless peaceful death whereas some torturing rapist serial killer doesn't surely? In America a man working in a pharmacy was shot in the head and killed after being threatened for hours and failing to be able to open the safe ? The offender now on death row ... I wonder if the pharmacists widow and children want him to go off on a high with a smile on his face? What about those girls locked in the dark cellar for TEN YEARS, abused etc, and came out blind. 15 minutes of suffering isn't enough is it? Thanks

I am not religious. I think religion is a man-made invention, just to try and explain the universe in an age when they couldn't and keep others in check. Any good I do is altruistic and not for some reward from a beardy sky fairy !! OMG ;-) I can believe there was a Jesus, illegitimate son of an engaged couple and it's a good story, Try that one today down at social services !!!! And the other religions are not much better, creating a universe from a lotus flower in a belly button? The bible and Quoran actually have a lot in common. I can't explain or prove where the universe came from: big bang, continually evolving multiverse or whatever, but I don't believe it was "designed" by deities either. Thanks.

My original post was the bad use of English "Kids company is ARE family" and all the people that let this get paraded and on the news etc. Obviously I am no wordsmith myself. But like the Kings Vitamin D "sufficiency" (instead of deficiency) ... it was allowed OUT THERE. As an ex-typist with spells of proof reading, I find it annoying at worse and a sad reflection of current standards at best. It can also been seen on TV, when they give what you are watching a permanent on screen title "Why did my mother STEEL from me?" That's those meja studies ... :-(

The music of your youth stays with you, are we all supposed to get to our forties or more and suddenly ditch all the "tunes" get into crooners like Elvis or Perry Como ????

I don't know about charging fortunes for a drink, perhaps they don't earn much from drink at all, relying on entrance fees ... a lot of people get tanked up on cheap plonk indoors before they get near a club ....

Just seen "cottage" in Nunhead Grove for ?859,000. It has been extended. So it has a dining area at the back, one of the three bedrooms is in the loft conversion. The usual cottages are two up, two downs, with scullery at back, box room above. Some people put a family bath room and separate loo in the scullery downstairs or make it their small galley kitchen, giving them two "receptions" some put bathroom in box room above, but this makes the once nice sized double bedroom smaller having to put the privacy corridor in. I think this price is a first for one of this little places ???

Oh dear again !! And I thought she was more down to earth than all that ... during an appearance on Room 101 she claimed to dislike the "do you know who I am ? If they have no cash, they need to be more creative. Went to many impromptu raves !! Health and safety would have a fit at the derelict old buildings and squats we would utilise ....The "Pop Up" phenomena is not new !! You could only get decent house and garage music by going "underground".

Sorry, I started it out of incredulity at some answers given. Sorry also OMG was just an illustration of that incredulity or an exclamation as I am an atheist. Sorry also to find that a lot of the company here are rude snobs with heads up their backsides. I didn't join to ridicule or belittle anyone or question anyones religiosity. Hope your mood improves, in the meantime I know to avoid you.

What posts are so ignorant? If anyone says something derogatory about anything at all doesn't mean it's ignorant. I have been to Rye Lane. Some of us miss the old department stores and are not keen on the smelly shops ?? I suppose to lament old fashioned shops is racist ???? or ignorant ????
