  1. if you can get to West Dulwich, there's a lovely sunday school for kids All Saints Church Lovelace Road West Duwich London SE21 8J
  2. How long a walk do you reckon from the station?
  3. Useful - Thank you! I am a member of the sports centre in ED, run by Fusion like Peckham Pulse - don't suppose you know whether that qualifies you as being able to book in advance or if you specifically need a Pulse Fusion membership> (the family leisure access card sounds like a good idea!)
  4. Do you always need to book in advance for these baby swim sessions or can you just turn up on the day? Thanks!
  5. Its happening next week - so PM Gen if you are interested I know she is still looking for mums. Its a smart project!
  6. Someone earlier posted about the co-operative people's supermarket in brooklyn - just wanted to share two links, the first is an explanation of how it worked (i used to live close by) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Slope_Food_Coop A friend wrote about it for (obviously) The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/2006/mar/16/food.usa Interesting stuff.
  7. Ditto on the timings. 3pm-4pm, or a 3.30pm start often seems to work well
  8. I know that all babies are individuals with different sleeping habits and patterns but I'd be interested to know if there is an average time that babies start to drop their morning nap and just have the long lunch time one instead. Thanks!
  9. i think its Cathy Walton 0203 299 3971
  10. I am being rubbish as I have found the spreadsheet in the past but for the life of me I can't find it now. If anyone knows where it is could they possibly repost a link to it?
  11. agree - the back of g&b is great for babies and feeding, enough space for parking buggies too which is always helpful!
  12. don't you have to stick with the clinic that you have been attached to? i am not sure that you can just show up at any baby clinic but i might be wrong
  13. another vote for sitters.co.uk
  14. Anna, my little one was exclusively BF till about 7 months and we had THE most awful time getting him onto a bottle. Tried different bottles, tried different people feeding him - I think that my lowest point was feeding him an entire full bottle with a tea spoon (!) You had some great advice here about BFing at work but if you do want to try with bottles I wanted to say that the only solution is persiverance - if you're serious about it I think that you have to do a bit of cold turkey. They either get a lovely warm bottle of milk or they don't. I was convinced that I would slowly starve my baby to death but I made sure that he was getting lots of milky porridge and youhurts (as well as other solid food) And then suddenly after a few days he just seemed to get it and took to the bottle and we have never looked back (in the end we suceeded with the Tommee Tipee that are meant to look like boobs) But if he didn;t take the bottle, I didn't offer the boob. Good luck!
  15. Morocco? Try "Baby Friendly Bolt Holes"
  16. Can I ask a stupid question - in Europe there is none of this obsession with getting babies off bottles at 1 year. I mentioned it to a bunch of French and Italian mums and they"d never been told to do this with their kids. What's the medical benefit for doing it? (asking as have an almost 10 month old so starting to think about this all now!) Thanks!
  17. Most of my NCT group have their babies starting there. They are really impressed with the woman running it and Criagy is right they're are still spaces
  18. We foolishly went for an expensive Bloom high chair and now use the brilliantly cheap and brilliantly brilliant Ikea Antilop (which we actually got on the Forum) http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00069725 I now tell every pregnant friend just to go for the Ikea one and save the money!
  19. Agree with what seems to be the majority view so far - we have a ton of great food options on Lordship Lane, absolutely no need for an "aspirational supermarket" as far as I am concerned in fact I think that it would have serious negative impact on our local independent shops (thank you for asking and posting though!)
  20. Nursery due to open in March, Little Jungle.
  21. Does the forum have end of year awards for "best post" etc? If it does, this should win If it doesn't, we should rectify the situation straight away - start up an awards system and ensure that this post wins best post of the year award. Made my christmas! :)
  22. btw, there's a post about "losing your spare tyre" over in the recommendations section of the forum http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,590351
  23. Ohhh - I got a leaflet thru the door about the vibration place, might be tempted to give that a go. BMF sounds smart option but in weather like this I'm not likely to be out at 7pm at night in the park in a class. Hmmm - I have been told that those Slendertone belt things really work. Is that a cheating way to get rid of baby belly??
  24. Not sure that this helps but I changed primary schools after one year and started at a new one and , although this was a long time ago c1981 :-), I have no terrible memories of the change. Kids are very adaptable and from my experience pretty happy when plans change. If Fairlawn was the one that you wanted, I would say go for it. As Dorothy said here, you'll also make another family on the Goodrich waiting list very very happy.
  25. I checked the Good Food one and funnily enough it doesn't seem to cure with vodka but I am sure that I used this recipe and I am sure that I used vodka (maybe I just drank it myself!) Anyway, I found you another beetroot cured salmon recipe that does have vokda - not that you can taste it or anything obviously http://www.houseandgarden.com.au/vodka-beetroot-cured-salmon.htm It really is brilliant. Moxons will do you a side of salmon and I think take out any little bones that there might be and your in-laws will be dead impressed :-)
