Anyone else getting very little sleep at the moment?!
nylonmeals replied to crystal7's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Why don't you just drop the 10pm feed? That way at least you could get a little evening sleep -
Anyone else getting very little sleep at the moment?!

@crystal7, in the same boat as you. 4 month old up every 2 hours at night. Just brutal. Thank god for the ED Forum support network (I actually mean that, love being able to log on and know that there are so many other mums going through exactly the same as you and that it does get better!) -
Lin Elderkin I have read about on the Forum I think http://www.linelderkin.co.uk/

A friend of mine started a web site in France where he designs and prints beatiful birth annoucement cards (as well as other cards, invitations, save the dates etc) He is thinking of launching in the UK. In France and the US people seem to send birth annoucement cards as a matter of course. But it struck me that birth annoucement cards are a bit less common here in the UK. Do you think I'm right? Did you send birth annoucement cards? If so do you remember what website you used? Any thoughts would be really useful. In the past we have used Tiny Prints http://www.tinyprints.com/baby-photo-birth-announcements.htm and have been really really pleased with the quality and designs.

Ole's posts reminds me of the brillance of YouTube for songs, cartoons in foreign langauges. Our toddler really enjoys watching (and singing along) to French songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0aMIKXajw8&feature=related This is a French classic and from that clip, you will find other songs. Tchoupi et Doudou are fun to watch together as is Trotro (just search for them on YouTube)

My husband is French and we are bringing up our little one with both langauges. For that age the best local options seems to be Cadet Rouselle who run a Monday morning session in West Norwood and half day nursery in Herne Hill http://www.cadetrousselle.co.uk/index.htm There are quite a few French bi-lingual families in the area.

Thanks for advice. It's silly, I think that I ended up flicking through too many baby books this weekend where they all say that by 4months babies should be easily sleeping through and I know, know, know that all babies are different and all do it in their own good time. Maybe I should just be a little more chilled about the nights and nap in the day.

He's my second child so I know that everything's a phase and that it will get better but I could really do with a bit of help from other mums who might have been in the same position. I have 3.5 month who at nights wakes every 2.5/3 hours for a feed. During the day we have a pretty good routine, he feeds well at roughly the same time every day and naps well. But at night it's 10, 1, 3.30 and 6.30. Basically exactly the same as he did weeks and weeks ago and he's getting on for 4 months now. Last night I tried cooled boiled water and shhshhing etc but we just spent about an hour with him screaming. He's a big baby and really doesn't need all those night feeds. I could really do with a bit more sleep. Any thoughts?

Lula, we have a 20 month age gap between our two and were having exactly the same conversation as you. In the end we went for a second hand P&T Sport and I think that it's totally fabulous. And second hand not too ???. I was worried about the weight, but I don't think its heavy and its really easy to steer (even with one hand)We are also getting a Buggy Board for our Bee. Our 23 month now loves the P&T so much that he wants to eat dinner in it - I think its because its so much higher up than it was on a Bee.

To stairgate or not to stairgate...
nylonmeals replied to sylviamaria's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had stairgates and then moved house and never bothered to put them up again. So from about 15 months our little one didn't have them. And it's been fine (I say, touch wood, he's now 2) We were really firm about stopping at the top of the stairs and then when he was older taught him how to go down backwards and now he's always up and down and very safely. So it can be done, though I agree with Molly for times when you;re in the shower etc they could give good peace of mind! -
Flying EasyJet with babies is a total delight compared to RyanAir which is a hell-ish experience. The EasyJet folks help with buggies, heat bottles and as have been noted, let you board first.

Buggy Board with Bugaboo Bee?
nylonmeals replied to nylonmeals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Amydown - will PM you now -
Yes it is, so an easy bus ride away (if you're driving, best option is to use the Tesco car park) Our new plan is to have lunch at The Agile Rabbit in Brixton Village. We've walked past loads and the pizzas smell amazing and loads of buggy space.

Travelling to USA with a 6 month old
nylonmeals replied to megano's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just to ditto what others have said, we did London - NYC with a 5 month old and found that in the bassinet craddle on the plane he slept pretty well. We opted for evening out and overnight back and actually we found that our son reacted better to jetlag than we did! Good luck -
Buggy Board with Bugaboo Bee?
nylonmeals replied to nylonmeals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We've got the old Bee so I guess that their own one wouldn't work. I was thinking about the Lascal Mini and Maxi. Do you have a different version on your Bee? Thx! -
Buggy Board with Bugaboo Bee?
nylonmeals replied to nylonmeals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Very funny - and final question, there seems to be a BuggyBoard Mini and a BuggyBoard Maxi - any idea if the Bee needs a specific one (again I have tried to look online but my sleep-deprived brain is letting me down!) -
I'm not sure if it fits your definition of a "gym" but there is daily soft play in Brixton (and Peckham, but have not been to that one myself) Its big, lots of levels and tunnels and exhausts my 22 month old (10-11.30am)

Buggy Board with Bugaboo Bee?
nylonmeals replied to nylonmeals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for this. Looks like they work in both positions. That;s great, thank you! -
I tried to look online but can't seem to find the answer - I have a 10 week old baby and a toddler and am using the Bee with the baby facing me, but I am trying to work out can I attach a buggy board when its in this position or does it have to be attached when the baby is facing the front? Sounds a silly question but can't quite work it out! Thanks if anyone knows.

Amazing photographer and reasonable prices
nylonmeals replied to missmack1981's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had a photo session with our toddler and newborn and the photos are fantastic! Very informal, really captured the spirit of the kids and we have had so many complements from friends as we used the pix on our birth annoucement cards. Big recommendation . -
I am not sure if it helps but we've certainly had the vomiting bug in our house and a lot of our friends with babies have too. There's good and bad news - good news is that it tends to pass in a few days, bad news is that grown ups catch it too. Good luck!

Oakfield or Rosendale Preparatory School?
nylonmeals replied to amb's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You'll get smaller class sizes and better facilities (sporting, IT etc) but its an impossible comparison to make. You have to trust your gut feel and find the school that you think that your child would be happiest in.
