  2. Thank you for all your responses. I have already been in touch with the place in Herne Hill and they've taken what they want. I will pop in to Windsor Antiques and see if they would like to do the same. Hopefully I can whittle it down! I was hoping to find a clearance company who pays to take everything, in the hope they find something of interest / value but perhaps that is wishful thinking on my part! Have a good day all.
  3. Having lost 3 close relatives in recent years, I have been left with an array of antiquities, objects, paintings and "stuff". Having held on to a lot for sentimental value, I now need to cleanse and make some room to welcome a new human in to our family home. A lot of the items are of good quality but would probably suit the taste of mature buyers / considered outdated by modern families, although I expect they have some value. Has anyone had experience of a reliable, considerate, house clearance company? Thanks in advance, (Another) Louisa
  4. I'm expecting my second at the beginning of April and would like to join the group. Please let me know who I should contact to be added? Thanks, Louisa
  5. I thought this might be of interest to some of you. A website showing the legacy of those served in the First World War. https://astreetnearyou.org
  6. It was a restaurant called Flashmans. I was a young girl when I went there with my family but remember great burgers, steak, ice cream sundaes and a wonderful antique apothecary cabinet as the backdrop.
  7. Hi Esther, I have just returned home to find your Amazon package in my porch - I live at the same house number on a neighbouring street. I can drop it round to you tomorrow morning if that?s convenient. Louisa
  8. Great suggestion @wulfhound and I?ve previously considered a pedal bike (to help the environment),if only I was proficient enough on two wheels to carry small persons and other heavy loads!
  9. Only on here to moan at this latest update. I have to make a daily trip from East Dulwich to check on my elderly grandparents in Dulwich, in between childcare drop off and getting to work by 9am, then do it all in reverse at the end of the day. Without access to Court Lane and the extra traffic the closure will divert to other routes, this short trip could take 40mins. Gah, I am not looking forward to this.
  10. Airs at 9pm tonight on BBC2!

  12. The ceramics cafe has a dance and drama session on Friday afternoons if that's something your little one would enjoy. There's a handy website which lists local activities: edtots.co.uk
  13. Sadly the live-in carer looking after my grandparents has fallen for a scam call and now her Windows PC laptop is out of action. We recently had a broadband connection set up for her and whoever it was on the end of the phone made it sound very plausible that they were calling from BT and her computer had to be re-configured to access the internet. She has sensibly cancelled / changed all of her personal and financial information and now I would like to help her restore her laptop. Does anyone know of an IT support person / business local to East Dulwich, Herne Hill or the surrounding area? Thanks
  14. I am so sorry to hear this, hopefully they will open and locals can show their support. I will be sure to pop down today.
  15. Hi lilifarini, Jan Harrison at Nightowls may be able to help you: http://www.nightowls.agency Jan helped a friend of mine with her little one. Remember, the sleepless nights won't go on forever! LR
  16. Overhill Road is rife with dog mess from a particularly large canine(s). Some days you have a better chance dodging cars in the road than dodging piles of poo on the pavement. As well as an annoyance surely it must be a health hazard. Whilst a scheme like DNA testing would be welcome, I suspect those owners who do not feel responsible for clearing up after their dog probably have no interest in registering them either.
  17. Hi mickeymonkey, I have just seen that 2 x tickets for the Jaws screening on 16th July have been posted in the "for sale" section of the forum. Hope you see this in time to nab them!
