  1. I?ve just had a batch of replacement credit cards go missing from a delivery on Barry Road and then hammered for contactless payments in Romford area.. And very little post last week as well...
  2. We had similar when we lived on a back street in West Norwood. We called 101 about it because at one point there were 3 or 4 ?100k + cars. A few months later the police visited us for statements, the gist was that someone on trial had left cars, i.e. the proceeds of crime, in obscure places so they wouldn't be confiscated.
  3. I think it?s one of their outsourced services having a complete eff up... I was searching the address to see if it was some outsourcing company but it?s actually the playboy Mansion!
  4. Fair play... Consistent year on year growth, a pretty decent EBITDA last year considering the state of the pub and restaurant business and it?s putting circa 250k back into the local economy in wages. Not to mention other local services as suppliers. And it serving the community in the much wider sense. Jeeze, it?s a better trading unit than most of the portfolio of a national restaurant chain I did a distressed sale process on last year. Well done...

  6. In our case we simply gave HMRC proof of empty status (3 years) and then any contractor could charge 5% VAT on allowable works. You can read all the VAT notices if you want. As for the building, any developer like HYN or whatever they are called would have levelled the plot. edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'd like to see the law on this. > > But I'm more interested about how HMRC credited > your bank account if you were not registered.
  7. As Sonners says... 5% on certain builds or renovations. We benefitted on a derelict renovation. No need for a VAT reg. As for the building... much better than a derelict yard. I thought it looked great.
  8. To be fair they probably heard the British Legion which is quiet a distance. I'm a few houses over from it and it was pretty loud near to midnight. No issue though, they are generally pretty good with noise. Although the Oasis sing along was unwarranted noise pollution..
  9. Maybe because they had a reasonable expectation that some nosy, opinionated person wouldn't be earwigging. I don't stand outside your house listening to drivel emanating from the back garden. Who the hell uses their garden anyway, other than to be seen and rub the noses of the poor flat owners nearby who can't afford a garden. Arrrrrrgggghhhhh
  10. Because you asked what Chicken of the wood was..
  11. A type of fungus...
  12. We purchased a complete wreck to renovate and used these; https://www.renovationplan.co.uk/
  13. Similar to the above... The menu isn't great... We booked for 4 to take advantage of the 50% off... For the quality of food, even that was too expensive. It really wasn't great, or even good. The service was all over the place, but they were struggling with people coming in to drink and then the food bookings. I'll give the that so soon after opening.. In overview - it's a nice pub for an afternoon drink if you happen to be in the park, but the food is pretty bad...
  14. How long will the property be empty I wonder!
  15. Good luck.... Out of interest what is the price of the lumpwood? You are about 50m from my house so makes it easier for me to grab!
  16. Plant in garden If you can. We had one that was as dead as a dodo but came back to life on replanting. Often you'll find that the pot it is in is just one massive root ball and has no compost.
  17. >>> "I despair. If you see moped with covered number plate 'patrolling' looking for criminal opportunities you ring 999" I think I was the only person that mentioned number plates so the above must be in reference to me. I think 101 is the number for this. Unless the Mets own guidance on what number to call is incorrect. As a few posters have mentioned, 101 resulted in police attendance.
  18. I reported similar to 101 or whatever the number is a few weeks ago. Moped, hidden faces, black tape on number plate scouting side streets. 101 was painful with a 10 minute wait but they sent a patrol car out..
  19. An update after we had a meter installed just over a year ago. Originally our bills were ?600 (ish, can't find the old non-metered one, but the 1st metered ones carried about that over as the estimate).. 1st year over and we are now running at ?460... And that's with a fair bit of washing (2 small kids) and them having a bath most nights etc..
  20. I'm with you on them not being appetising (to me) Louisa. But to suggest that calling them Escargot is some trickery to get more "folk" to buy them and charge a higher price is ridiculous. I like frogs legs, but got tricked into buying toad-in-the-hole the other day. Thought it would be a meatier, larger version with a twist for my more discerning taste. Turns out it was just awful.
  21. There must be some really bad things happening.. To lose 2.3bn people in only a year is nothing short of shocking.. Trumps right, the BBC just spout rubbish http://www.bbc.co.uk/earth/story/20160311-how-many-people-can-our-planet-really-support
  22. We had one put in and I found it really useful. It makes you aware of what you are spending but can also drive you a little mad! You turn on a set of halogen lights and suddenly the electric goes shooting up. Then you trim your heating by 30 mins either side and drop it 1 degree. The aim of them in the end I guess. No privacy issues i'm aware of really. But - the whole process of installation and technology is an absolute shambles. Inevitably the consumer will pay for the installation and devices via their rates. But, we had one put in by British Gas, we moved from them 4 months later to get a better rate and now EDF have to completely reinstall because they need their own equipment. So we have the device from BG and now its useless, they told me just to bin it. Such a waste of something for 4 months use...
  23. Agreed - Saturday was rather chaotic. We ended up being sat about an hour late but we were plied with Champagne and a cocktail at the end. From sitting at the bar you could see just how busy they were in the kitchen and the unfortunate pressure on the front of house must have had an impact. But, credit where its due, the staff were working their socks off to get things right. Food was good, but as above, i'd like to try again on a less manic nights. All in all I think this could be a great little place, they just need to get the booking system working!
  24. Always find that this website has some great recipes and general info... http://www.seriouseats.com/search?term=slow+cooker
  25. You'll often find that you end up with the Euro's less say 10 as a charge. Sometimes it is a charge at the senders end, and they haven't checked the box accepting all charges.
