  1. Sounds great. Best of luck!
  2. Ease up on the BBC-hate. If it wasn't for the likes of the Guardian and BBC we'd all be thinking Farage is Jesus reincarnate!
  3. Is there 24 hour access to the tubs? I will come by tomorrow night with good after work. Also, do you know if the Manna Centre or any other South London charity helping homeless people needs any help over the Christmas period? Cheers, Phil.
  4. Oh thanks for the heads up londonmix! Do you know whether the objection to the development is gathering much steam?
  5. Please help save the Bussey Building in Peckham from developers! https://www.change.org/p/shanali-counsell-object-to-plans-for-housing-development-at-133-rye-lane-gateway-to-the-bussey-building?recruiter=187238481&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink Cheers, Phil.
  6. CONGRATS!!! That's awesome news
  7. I came onto this thread to simply contribute my positive views of DLC: the gym is big and the architecture has oodles of character, the equipment is more than adequate, the pool is great, the studio classes on offer are varied and accessible and the instructors are very good. Not least of all the membership fees are very reasonable. I also find the customer service particularly good - keep an eye out for Ann, who might just be the loveliest lady I've ever been served by.
  8. Wow Otta, any pub starting with "Hollywood" AND located in Penge is quite possibly the worst combination for a pub I've heard of.
  9. I'll admit that my knowledge of British politics is limited (I moved here from Australia 1.5 years ago) but if it were at all possible, wouldn't be great to have David Miliband make a dramatic return and run for the leadership?!!
  10. Yeah good point but I do feel the ABs under Hansen are even better than they were under Henry. Would love to see an Ireland win - my Irish girlfriend would be over the moon. Where do you think will be some of the better pubs/venues in ED to watch cup games Alan?
  11. A school right in the busiest part of Lorship Lane? Interesting. Appreciate the prompt reply James!
  12. Phil.

    Rugby matters

Alan I've just joined your pool mate. We need to get the numbers up - calling all contributors to this thread, get onboard!
  13. I'll be cheering for Ireland, Alan. But geez the well-oiled machine that is the All Blacks is in a league of its own!
  14. Ok lads (and any ladies on this thread), these are my predictions: Semi final 1: All Blacks beat Springboks Semi final 2: Ireland beat England Third place playoff: Springboks beat England Final: All Blacks beat Ireland 20-15 Thoughts? Rebuttals?
  15. I'll be sure to don my Boks jersey and revel in the fact that I'll likely be the only Saffa supporter in ED! haha
  16. I would imagine East Dulwich Tavern, The Cherry Tree and The Actress will all be showing RWC games. Is there anywhere in particular that people know of that will not only be showing the games but also getting into the RWc spirit?? Cheers, Phil
  17. Great idea! This project has my vote and monetary donation. Please keep us updated on the project. Good Luck!
  18. Hi James, Glad to see you're back for another term. Do you know what is happening with the old police station? There were rumours it is set to become a Waitrose shop... Thanks, Phil
  19. Did anyone see suspect individuals on or near Heber Road and Rodwell Street (off Lordship Lane) last Thursday evening 30 April? A house was burgled at some point between 6pm and 10.30pm. Police have nothing to go on. Please be vigilant, take care of yourselves and your homes, and look out for one another!
  20. Hi James, Just wanted to congratulate Southwark Council on providing a very impressive garbage/refuse collection service. I'm really impressed that the recycle bins accept so many recyclable items and that the garbage collectors collect one's bins from inside one's property instead of one having to place the bins on the curb. Cheers, Phil
  21. Keep telling yourself that, Otta. I'm sure you feel big when on your soapbox
  22. Hi all, I'd just like to add some colour to what Picturehouse have done with its newest installment - the ED Picturehosue is absolutely fantastic! The three cinemas are great - cinema 2, where they showed the film on Friday night, sports big, comfy seats with ample leg room and even has a few rows with couches for loved-up couples to enjoy. There are an impressive array of craft beers, wine and gourmet snacks on offer and the reception area looks and feels trendy and spacious, allowing plenty of natural sunlight to stream through. To those of you who are members of other Picturhouse franchises and feel aggrieved for not being permitted entry for the founding members' weekend, I think you are misguided - some of these perks for founding members were offered to get members on board early and such members being rewarded with an exlusive pre-opening event is perfectly acceptable. Again, bravo Picturehouse ED! I hope any local residents who are not yet members decide to spend the quid to be a part of this awesome cinema franchise right in our backyard. Cheers, Phil
  23. It's opening today and over the weekend for founding members and opens for the wider public on Thursday 23 April
  24. Well thanks for lobbying for so long for this James Barber. I only moved to ED in January and I was genuinely over the moon to see a Picturehouse being constructed!
