Amy Lame' as new Labour MP for Dulwich/W Norwood?
Beej replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
She posted this on her facebook earlier: Hi everybody...big news today! I'm excited to announce that i'm standing for The Labour Party Parliamentary selection in Dulwich and West Norwood. I've been a Labour Party activist for 20 years. I want to bring my skills as a campaigner, entrepreneur and broadcaster to stand up, speak up and get things done. And I want Parliament to start looking more like the people it serves! Tessa Jowell has announced her retirement and has very big shoes to fill; she's an amazing MP. I'm up to the job, and i'd love your support. https://www.facebook.com/amylame?fref=ts She looks well cool. I like my politicians to actually look like they haven't got a pole stuck up their [insert appropriately], she looks a right larf! Good luck to you Amy. -
uhhhhh can we just stop banning things?!!! heavens above - rules rules rules..... I swear this town is turning into an episode of grumpy old men. Live a little, play some music after dark, sunbathe naked in your back garden, sit around a bonfire telling war stories. Whatever you do, smoke out these constant tiresome sour people, starting with that hideously surly woman in xxx and ending with pretty much all the staff in the xxx. #middleclassdramarama

Of course you didn't!! you lived next to it during the quietest period in its history; there was practically no one in it. If indeed you've moved, how can you possibly comment on what it's like to live near it now? No one's questioning the vibrant life being breathed into it, just whether that vibrant life needs to be seen at 2am in the morning. -

Point taken - but for me having edt, mag and actress showing the sport gives me enough options...

Strangely our green bin and brown bin have been stolen - southwark council are brilliant and will replace them free of charge, so why are they worth stealing? I would also like to big up the bin men whom actually come to our door to collect the wheelie bin when I forget to put it at the front of the garden - I am never awake early enough to thank them but they deserve a mention!

Just met the new guys next door at the CPT - they seem nice enough and keen to turn the place in to a 'franklins' style place which could only be a good thing. It's up to us as locals to make this place what we want it to be. For me a great local that serves good beer and good food can only be an improvement - we have loads of places on the lane showing sport on screens so let's encourage them to make this pub the perfect place to head for a proper chilled out few drinks and decent grub rather than another loud sports bar. Here's hoping for a new local with a truly mixed clientele of old school and newbies mixing it up to keep a proper pub alive.

I just came across the recent blog post by the illustrious South East London food critic Helen Graves of 'Food Stories' and she starts her recently released post with an amusing tirade against SE22 parents: for the full post go to http://helengraves.co.uk/2011/10/viet-van-east-dulwich/ but here's the opener: "I must start by apologising to all local parents with young children because you will probably take offence to what I am about to say, which goes something along the lines of: get the hell out of East Dulwich or at least spread yourselves out a bit so I don?t have to fight my way into every shop and cafe and shout to hear myself speak over the noise of your precious little darlings (why do people let their kids scream and run around in shops and restaurants like its a cr?che?) Let?s not forget those ankle biting, space invader buggies. How many times have they savagely scraped my Achilles tendon? How many times has no-one even apologised? Can you not just wait or deploy a spot of good old common courtesy rather than using your buggy as a battering ram? You can tell this makes me angry and I?m sorry but this is my blog and I can rant if I want to." ouch!!

outdoor parties loud and into the next day wee hours
Beej replied to mynamehere's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
11.30pm?!! Gosh I went to a 40th birthday party at the weekend, which was outdoor in the garden of a perfectly 'respectable' businessman's house. I didn't even ARRIVE until 3am and I reckon the last person went to bed about 10am. The only thing that annoys me about a neighbour bangin on till the small hours is if they have the audacity to NOT invite me! Haven't you lot heard of earplugs? I mean if it's every night, fair enough, call the noise police, but a one off a couple times a year... For God sake, if you can't beat them, join them! -
Youth offenders unit moving to east dulwich rd
Beej replied to summer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
About time, thank you Peterstorm1985, I agree let's hug a hoodie! I will if you will - someone has to change the way this city is headed, we've tried treating 'them' like 'scum', like 'rubbish' like 'lowlife's - why not try something different? sounds like this young offenders centre is a place where they go to continue their punishment. So while that's being addressed, maybe we should go all crazy like and treat them as human beings who matter, for once? And if that doesn't work, well I'm fresh out of ideas. Btw I'm with DJ all the way because, hell, it's got to be a lot less stress on my heart being positive and open, then so pent up, closed and aggressive, no? -
apparently the last train to east dulwich stopped midway on the track as east dulwich station is closed, if he's on a bike maybe he could go the back routes to avoid the trouble.

They are dining prices, not streetfood prices. But we of SE22 fame are mugs for falling for the craze. I did. I admit it. I was first in the queue at the Rye, but sadly last time I went, my tummy said "eeewwww what the hell are you doing to me". It may have just been the novelty wearing off, but I rather guess it was my bank balance saying 'this bandwagon you've chosen's pretty damn pricey!'
