You might like to try the south london sling library for advice and maybe to try sth out. Last time I went, Emily demonstrated an Ergo and a framed carrier (little life). This was for someone else, but I seem to remember that she said that men often seem to prefer the framed carriers over ergos or mei tais whilst its the other way round for smaller women. so it may be worth checking sth out to see that you are both happy with the carrier you use? I agree though that ergo is much easier to transport if that is on issue.

NOW ENDED Survey - pain in pregnancy
birnehelene replied to birnehelene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks so much for your interest. Here is the link again. I believe it was working all along... http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QPFZVCW -
Hello, a friend of mine is doing a brief anonymous survey on pain in pregnancy as part of her course in psychology. I am wondering if anyone who has been pregnant or is currently pregnant would like to complete this? It only takes about 5 minutes: Edited: I am afraid that the link is not working - :-( so will check with her...

bump. I know Hannah from the Doctorate course in Clinical Psychology at UCL and as a mom of a 4 month old daughter have only recently been through pregnancy myself. I understand both from a personal perspective and from that of a psychologist just how important research in this area is. Unfortunately Hannah has been struggling to recruit participants as this is a sensitive issue. I would like to encourage people to get in touch with her if they might be interested in taking part. Or alternatively if you know someone who might wish to take part, maybe you could pass her details on to them. Thank you!

Any tips for breastfeeding at a wedding... outfit etc?

Pomkin (a French label) does wonderful breastfeeding dresses suitable for weddings. I bought a Pomkin dress (Imani) from mummyandlittleme, but I don't think they do them any more. However you can order from the French website or from Mama Nana. http://www.pomkin.fr/714-robes http://www.mamanana.com/manufacturer.php?idm=38&language=en -
Anyone got a good, child-friendly cleaner?
birnehelene replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi there, whilst our regular cleaner was away for two months this summer, we used Amy and her daughter-in-law who were recommended by 'apenn' here on the forum in June. Amy's English is a bit limited, but her cleaning was fab and anything I wanted done extra I could just write in a note which she got translated by her son and voila. Amy has several grandchildren and was very keen to come and help out with my baby (who is due very shortly) so I am sure she would be great with kids and chaos... Her number is 07525 750468 and she was charging ?8p/h. Christine -
In order to prevent me from sticking my hand or arms out of the car windows whilst driving, my mum told me that I would get skin cancer. It certainly worked for years, at 13 I was still petrified. Not sure when I finally worked out that it wasn't true but for many years I still had a weird feeling if I only poked a finger out of the car window when driving. Apparently my auntie was always appalled by my mum's story but couldn't bring herself to question the approach. My mum now laughs it off, but just says that it worked. However, she didn't use it on my little brother (16 years my junior)...

ADVICE: Ameda Lactaline Personal Breast Pump
birnehelene replied to birnehelene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all, Thanks for ur replies. You have definitely sold the ameda pump to me. So now I can happily go and buy it. Thanks again. -
U need to call seldoc (google to get phone number) to get an out of hours appointment and then u go to kings dental hospital. My partner recently had to do this in the middle of the night and they were very good. Hope u get it fixed soon.

Hello, a friend of mine has recommended the Ameda Lactaline Personal Breast Pump (double breast pump). I was wondering if anyone has experience using this breast pump and what they think of it? I have also heard that the Medela Swing breast pump is good, but I suppose that was is not a double pump. Any views on double vs single pumps (apart from time saving)? Thank you very much!

We had a wonderful experience at http://www.apeekabooimaging.co.uk/ today. Both the lady at reception and the midwife/sonographer were excellent! Would definitely recommend.

Hi all, we have booked a scan this afternoon with apeekaboo which was recommended by Fuschia via PM. Will give an update on our experience. Best wishes

Thank you both!

My partner and I are interested in having a 4d scan. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good clinic? Thank you.

Grotty, we will be meeting at The Actress tomorrow at 7.30 - I think people were hoping to have some food there this time. Jules, I do not see how bringing men/partners along is going to interfere with us getting to know each other. After all partners are part of the deal of us having babies. I believe that the dads/partners are intending to keep up their separate meetings every couple of weeks and I don't feel that they should be excluded from coming along to join 'ours' on the Tuesdays where they are not having their exclusive meetings... See you all tomorrow!

Any trouble in East Dulwich?
birnehelene replied to Administrator's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Apparently its all quiet now. My partner says that the 25 or so (? not sure about accuracy here) thugs who caused the trouble on LL have 'evaporated' and police are around to check out the damage. They had also tried to get into the post office. -

Londis East Dulwich - damage. -
Yes, I watched it after having read reviews on BBC and in a newspaper. It was beautifully filmed and I also cried many tears. I have worked as a psychologist in cancer palliative care services and sometimes medical teams can forget the human impact. This is a poignant reminder.
