  3. Hi. I am going to a special occasion on 26 October and I'm looking for help with make-up - a trial and then the real thin on 26 October AM. I am a very old Mummy (20 yrs and 16yrs). I have been ill for sometime and I really need a boost for the occasion. If you can help, please let me know. Thanks Karen
  4. My son has just started Year 11 after an unexpectedly bad GCSE English mark - like many other pupils. There's lots on the BBC news websites and The Guardian has run an article too about the unfairness of Ofqual 'moving the goal posts' half way through the year. Basically they put up the pass rate to 9 points - I believe an unprecedented rise - subsequently a lot of children who were expected to achieve a B or C in certain subjects received a D. The Government are saying that it is innappropriate for them to intervene in the business of Ofqual - which begs the question who are they accountable to? If anyone has experienced the same situation with their children I would really like to know whether their schools are appealing as I understand others are. I have heard a whisper of an independant enquiry - I've written to Tessa Jowell and would encourage anyone who feels the same to write to her thanks Karen
  5. Sorry - have just posted a message saying subject is Magrat - but it's actually about the mid-way GCSE English results
  6. My son has just started Year 11 after an unexpectedly bad GCSE English mark - like many other pupils. There's lots on the BBC news websites and The Guardian has run an article too about the unfairness of the marking situation - which basically accuses Ofqual of unfairly "moving the goalposts halfway through the year". Basically what the Government are saying is that it is Ofqual's fault and they can't get involved. But there are whispers about an independent enquiry. So if you have a son or daughter who has been affected by this then you might feel like writing to Tessa Jowell which is what I've done. Karen
