  1. Depends if you're looking for standard UK chinese takeaway options, or the real thing! I'll go with the latter.. Fu House on Dartmouth Road in Forest Hill is worth checking out. Aside from the bog-standard takeaway options, the 'traditional dishes' section of the menu has a decent selection of Szechuan dishes. Silk Road is pretty good for food from Xinxiang, but has gone downhill a bit. Never been that impressed by the quality Wuli Wuli unfortuantely, despite having a handful of authentic-sounding Szechuan options. Apart from that you're looking at going into town where there are loads of great options.
  2. thanks peckhambog :-)
  3. theres talk of a noise management plan and noise monitoring during the event - but does anyone know what actual noise limits have been agreed with the council (or where to find them)?
  4. Hi, It depends a bit when the property was converted from a house into flats. Since about 2004, its been a Building Regs requirement to test the sound insulation between new-build and converted residential properties in order to verify that a certain minimum standard is met. However for older conversions and those which slipped through the net, sound insulation is often very poor (they weren't designed to be used as separate dwellings). I don't have any direct experience with properties on Therapia Road, but more often than not, the houses of that age were built in a similar way.
  5. Police have a suspect in the 'dulwich defecator' case. https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/help-cops-find-suspect-defecated-dulwich-village-street/
  6. I would also highly recommend 'Elephant' in Brixton village market. Only four choices (lamb, chicken, veg and keema I think), but they're all incredible, and even better than YHMA IMO..
  7. Thats such a shame.. Swadesh was my favourite curry place in ED, with a handful of great options not seen on the standard curry house menu. Yeah, the style of the decor was a bit dated, but to be honest thats pretty far down on my list of priorities when going for a curry! Slightly further afield, theres a great fast food style curry place on Rye Lane called 'The Grill & Pizza' (somewhat misleadingly..), with authentic Pakistani currys in metal trays at the counter. Its mainly takeaway, but they've got a few tables inside - without a table-cloth in sight!
  8. You could check what the acoustic rating of glazing units you had installed was (it will be a number and look something like 35dB Rw). I would expect that anything marketed as 'acoustic' should result in a noticeable reduction in noise compared to 1980's single glazing, even if not massive, so it seems that somethings not right. Are you sure that the noise isn't coming into your home via another path, e.g. trickle vents, lightweight external walls?
  9. I'm looking for a mindfulness mediation class (or something similar) in the area. I've been to a few classes in town which were great but inconvenient to get to. Apart from that I'm basically new to it all. Any suggestions? Cheers
