  1. Not something anyone would do if they value their own star players. I think its more of a mutual respect system. that tactic might win you a game but it would get ugly the next time the teams met up.
  2. We have a group that plays every week at the harris sports center. if anyone wants to join us over there send over a PM.
  3. and i unfortunately cannot due the evening weekdays in camberwell - the times just don't correlate for me when i get home, etc. Thanks for the offer and i hope we still get in some weekend sessions. nick
  4. without a doubt, we have been having pretty regular games saturday mornings in camberwell. we generally play doubles, etc and its a little less intense than the midweek singles sessions weve been doing. I personally think we should make the move to the harris girls school gym as its the same price and the courts are significantly nicer. midweek camberwell sessions are also not really doable for me.
  5. i just played a game of singles with the badminton pro that was at the harris girls school - he wanted to see my skill level for tightening the racquet strings. we arent even playing the same game - i can barely move my forearm after 15 minutes with him. Are we playing anywhere on weekdays this week?
  6. tuesday is booked up - thats why I was asking about thursday. Nick
  7. can you guys do thursday evening next week? we can book a court for two hours or two courts for an hour. Nick
  8. I spoke to the Harris Girls Academy and they said that they do rent out courts. They cost 9 pounds an hour for non members and we can book up to two weeks in advance. They do rent racquets and are open 4-10 on weekdays and 9-5 on weekends. I am at work so I couldnt book it but this is the scoop at least.
  9. Thanks Simon, If you have the bodies then I will leave it up in the air. If I'm there I'm there, otherwise i will certainly be playing next weekend. Nick
  10. Hey guys, Yea I am to try and come, although it would have to just be me. Some of my buddies are flying in and will be visiting through the weekend, so at the very least Cat would have to stay and keep them entertained if I went. I can't guarantee I will come but I will make every effort. This is kind of a freak occurence since the game at Wembley is this weekend - I assure you this unpredictability wont be a regular thing. Nick
  11. Honestly Will, I dont know your situation, but if you want to come I almost think that may be a better foursome. My girlfriend is backing of her bold claims of abilities now that she has a place. That being said, if we dont hear anything on here before tommorrow she will come. Aside from all that silliness, this should be good. Thanks Simon for organizing this. Nick
  12. She has said if she is bumping someone out she is fine with just coming next week or whatever. So Will, if you want to come say so and we can act accordingly. I dont expect this to be too intense for our first of what i hope is many more bouts of badminton, so the more the merrier i say.
  13. My girlfriend, Cat, doesn't have a racquet, so does anyone know if they are available at our destination? I think more people can come if they would like and I can sacrifice some time if necessary. Its good to get as many people involved as possible. That being said, Simon has taken charge of this so its all at his discretion, I dont know much about where we are playing or anything.
  14. If we dont find a fourth my girlfriend is interested in playing - she claims to be an old hand with a badminton racquet.
  15. I will be there at 11:00 sharp. Does anyone know what bus I would need to take from the far corner of Peckham Rye (by the girls school)? Nick
  16. I am in for sure for either day. I live right near the girls school next to Peckham Rye, so I can try and follow up with that depending on the situation. I had no idea it was an open to the public kind of place.
  17. hello all I havent really been able to find the time to set this up - i was again away this weekend for a birthday celebration and I have had to worka bit much the past few weeks. I saw the fusion leisure center is nearby and that they do have the capacity for badminton but i havent been able to call them. Can anyone who was part of the badminton group from the past chip in here with some input on how things went? I think we should try and see if we can do something this upcoming weekend to just see what kind of turnout we can get and try and work out the kinks. Does anyone have any idea of the availability of badminton facilities around the area? How many interested parties do we have? I agree that we need to try and kickstart this so we can actually go somewhere with this. Its about time to play some badminton. Nick
  18. Yea, sorry I kind of started this renewal of the badminton thread and then Iven been so busy i havent been able to follow through. I am certainly willing to take part - I have been looking around onlines for places but Im not really sure of a destination. How about the Fusion leisure center? I dont know if they have the facilities. But you can count me in for regular badminton - I am willing to help out with whatever is needed.
  19. Thats fine with me. Anyone else interested in playing some weekend badminton?
  20. Hey i just moved into the area and i would definitely be down for getting into some badminton again. Is there still enough interested peoples looking to play some badminton?
