  1. Well, our mystery has been solved. It was next door's rabbit. Making the noise of several grown men. He is on loan, so he goes home next week. Meanwhile, they very kindly brought him inside last night. A good night's sleep. Bliss. Good luck with the bakery.
  2. For the past few nights we have been kept awake by a very loud, irregular banging noise. It sounds like someone hitting wood with incredible force, or sometimes like single, resonant explosions. They are so loud I heard them over the storm and through double glazing and they make the windows shake. They seem totally random, no rhythm to them at all. I have leaned out the back of our house, towards Crystal Palace Road and can see other neighbours doing the same. They could be coming from gardens on Crystal Palace or Lacon Road, or even further as the noise reverberates around so much. It begins just before midnight and lasts until I can get to sleep through it and has woken me up every morning as early as 5am. This morning it has just finished. Can anyone shed ANY light on what this is?
  3. The lights are currently out along a large stretch of Surrey Canal Path, which many of us use as a cycle path from Peckham Library to Burgess Park. Last night at about 5:30, a man in a balaclava jumped into the path along this dark stretch just ahead of me to block me passing or try to knock me off. I stopped and screamed at him. He left, either scared off by my shouting (?!) or by other cyclists coming up the path behind us. I learnt when I got to the traffic lights at Library Square that he got a hold of a (male) cyclist ahead of me but couldn't keep his grip. Clearly as muggers or bike jackers go, he wasn't very competent, but it was still very frightening. The police and park warden have all taken reports. Meanwhile and especially whilst those lights are out, please don't cycle that path alone and keep an eye out for each other. Jacqui
  4. I used icanhire a couple of weekends ago and they were great. I picked the van up from SE15 - a bus ride away.
