  1. Yes. It was the Police Station for East Dulwich before the new one was built in Lordship Lane. It's been in continual use as police admin offices until both buildings were recently sold for redevelopment.
  2. This is an old thread. The post by NickW relates to the Dog Kennel hill Sainsburys extension of 2006 not the new Dulwich Village one.
  3. Hi Penguin Showing my age here, but the military shop was at 1 North Cross Rd next to what was then Ossies fish and chip shop. The shop is now flats. I remember it around the early 60s when I was at St. John's school.
  4. I suspect people who can afford to move into East Dulwich will be able to afford M&S prices and I expect M&S will be there a long time.
  5. It's scheduled for 3rd to 5th November assuming suitable weather, but it's raining at the moment so we shall see.
  6. James Barber posted that it is diverted via Peckham Rye, Barry Road and Lordship lane, so if you are going towards Putney I assume you would either need to get at the Peckham Rye/ East Dulwich Road junction or the first stop in East Dulwich Grove. It's a massive diversion, but unavoidable.
  7. That shop seems to be jinxed. None of the previous occupants have lasted long, so I hope the caf? is more successful. Does seem strange having a caf? next door to a choppy.
  8. The 363 doesn't go down Barry Road.
  9. There have been loads of changes to the schools in and around the se22 area. Honour Oak Girls School became Waverley and is now Harris girls. William Penn briefly became Dulwich High school for boys. It then closed and Charter now occupies refurbished buildings on the site. Friern girls school was empty for several years. It was then demolished and the site used as a temporary site for another school. Harris Boys School is now in a new building on the site. St. John's and St. Clements primary school was in North Cross Road. The buildings have been converted to residential and the school now occupies the buildings previously used by Thomas Calton school.
  10. Hello Sue The post box outside the newly refurbished post office is now open again.
  11. This thread is pants.😄
  12. Surely after all this time the job should be perfect first time.
  13. Agreed. The free ones are not strong enough, especially for a second use. I reuse mine to clear up after the dog. You can buy a 'bag for life' which is much stronger and the shop will replace it when it wears out.
  14. The shop on the corner of Landcroft and Whatley roads was a fish and chip shop run by Chinese people. It has been closed for years.
  15. Sainsburys are charging 5p per plastic bag from next Monday with proceeds going to charity. Should dramatically cut the number used.
  16. My son went to Kingsdale. They run several buses covering different routes. Most of the local primary schools have a pick up. E.g. Goodrich, Heber, Dog Kennel Hill etc. Hope this helps.
  17. There was a burst pipe at the top end of Friern road near one of the blocks of flats. Water was pouring down the road. Thames water have now cut the supply and are in the process of repairing the pipe.
  18. Kingsdale run coach services which pick up at local primary schools and drop off at Kingsdale school. Might be useful if you live near a primary school. You do have to pay for it though.
  19. I bought my LEDs online from LEDHUT. They have a huge choice and seem to be cheaper than other places.
  20. The work has now finished and the road is open again.
  21. Has anyone noticed the planning application in today's Southwark News re the boarded up shops on Barry Parade? (ref 15/AP/2698) It's for a mixed use development on 5 floors with a local supermarket on the ground floor and 9 flats above. Good to see the site put to some use but seems an overdevelopment to me. What do others think?
  22. Well done for preventing a potential disaster. I don't think it's very safe having living accommodation above a takeaway or restaurant.
  23. A machine is currently spreading the sand over the football pitches.
  24. Most responsible dog owners do clear up after their dogs. It's the irresponsible minority who give everyone else a bad name.
