  1. So it would seem, at least in the SE24 area, that the problem is fixed. Over a week now of actually getting 50MB speed in the evening after months of less than 2MB. Fingers crossed it continues. And BTW, if BT say they can do fibre to your house than Plusnet can too. And for much cheaper.
  2. I really should have switched to Plusnet when I had the chance but housemate overruled me. Sometimes even getting twitter to load can be like pulling teeth.
  3. Just had a convo over Twitter with Virgin. They are now claiming that it'll be fixed in April. I wouldn't advise anyone to hold their breath. https://virginmedia.response.lithium.com/portal/conversation/6567227
  4. After calling up today I learned that I was out of my contract period. With a combination of price increases and slow evening speeds for over a month, I'm happy to report that I will not be suffering from any cancellation fees. Now if Plusnet can just confirm that they can install fibre at my house, I shall be bidding Virgin goodbye.
  5. As someone who lives on Casino Avenue, having the 42 continue onto Sainsbos would be extremely useful. I usually walk to the shop, but if I'm carrying lots of heavy shopping home it would be nice to only have to get one bus home instead of two. Quicker and so much cheaper when you're not on a travelcard.
  6. Speedtest.net allows you to save a jpeg of your results. I would recommend everyone does this.
  7. So I'm in SE24 and at the start of January I noticed that our evening speeds were barely reaching 1MB (we're supposed to be on 50MB). When I called I was told that it was due to upgrades works in the area. This meant that from 7pm till 11pm each night we would have severely reduced speeds - for the next month! I was very much not happy. We should have been given notification of these works, but not a peep. I can only hope at the end of the month I get my proper internet back. It is fine during the day, but when everyone's home its a nightmare to do anything other than Twitter, Facebook and a bit of Tumblr. This could be the same works affecting a lot of other people in the area. And yes, this is all very frustrating, but I've been with Virgin Media for over 4 years and this is the first real problem we've have. They still offer the best speeds for the price in my area. It was just the lack of notice or warning which really got my goat. And they of course charged me for the phonecall to find out what was actually going on.
  8. A reminder of our December meeting.
  9. Not us. That might be the East Dulwich WI.But they are massively oversubscribed, which is why we started one in nearby Peckham. :)
  10. Bumping up the thread to remind everyone that our next meeting takes place on the 3rd November, same time, same place. We'll be introducing our committee, taking a few votes, and running a 'get to know each other' session. Please feel free to bring a long a friend. :)
  11. Well we're a young group so we haven't decided exactly what we'd like to do yet. But anything from crafts to dance lessons to board games can be on the cards.
  12. Hi East Dulwich Forumites Just wanted to let everyone know that a new WI group has popped up in Peckham. We're currently recruiting for new members so if you've ever been interested in what the WI do, maybe want to make some more local friends or learn new skills, please come along. I promise its not all flower arranging and making jam (though we might do that in the future :) ) Our next meeting takes place at 8-10pm at the Copleston Centre, Copleston Road on Tuesday 6th October. Hope to see you there. Rachel
