  1. No bees = no honey = no Winnie The Pooh = no Tigger. I love Tigger so the bees can stay. I may be paranoid, but the slugs in East Dulwich seem to be particularly huge - and they gather in such large numbers! I did declare war on them once and sprinkled them with salt - but I could swear I heard their little death cries and so I stopped, feeling very guilty. Now I just lay down poison.

Indeed, I like to look too - though perhaps the things that make mine dilate are likely to be different to yours ::o
  3. Can't help you there Lizzy. Will you be working your way through all the pics? We may be here some time....
  4. that'll be our Brendan, Lizzy. He's a very nice chap, and I'm sure he'll be very flattered!
  5. I'm on it, clear as day, looking at the camera... I remember thinking at the time, 'what's on the roof of that car?'. Hence my puzzled, slightly amused expression!
  6. I had a lovely time - thanks to all, particularly Georgia for organising, though Georgia this time we didn't really get the chance to slip back into speaking brummie together, did we! Next time... And a great venue too.

  8. daizie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > no one worth shagging so i wont be coming on > friday Daizie, I'm shocked. You must have very high standards. As one who appears in a photo, I consider myself supremely shaggable - after several margaritas, of course.
  9. For some unexplained reason, I completely forgot to change my clocks - all day. Result? I missed my 5pm train to Lincoln and ended up on a later - and much, much slower - train that took me to Grantham then Nottingham (where I waited for an hour). Now this is, I assure you, a minor lapse so please don't think I'm just a stereotypical Benny-from-Crossroads-type Brummie. Has anyone seen my woolly hat?
  10. Hitched a ride one evening from Berlin to Frankfurt in only 3 hours because driver had a big Mercedes and he 'loves to drive fast'. He stopped for fuel on the way which gave me the opportunity to climb into the back - sitting in the front was far too scary!

I don't think referring to nature's equilibrium necessarily equates to me saying that there's a god-like force at work. The whole world functions because it is equilibrium, if it didn't then the planet would die. Remember, humans have only been here for a tiny interval of earth's life - and as long as we don't destroy it first, the earth will be here long after we've gone. Global warming may well have been accelerated by human intervention, but it certainly isn't a new phenonemon. Over time, I believe that things balance out, just as it did after the last major temperature shift - the ice age 10,000 years ago. We may think we're important and that the earth revolves around us, but really we're just a blip on the earth's timeline. That said, I'm all for saving the earth's natural resources from further destruction and maybe we can slow down the acceleration into global warming - so I support any initiative that raises awareness of this, such as the Earth Hour.
  12. ...Radio 4 in fact, so he must be kosher!
  13. He was actually on the radio Sean, speaking in person...
  14. I was interested to hear a prominent scientist recently (can't recall his name) saying that the rise in the earth's temperature over the next century will render vast areas uninhabitable, which will inevitably lead to a massive reduction in the world's population. Nature's equilibrium will therefore be restored, albeit at some cost to the human race - but then, surely we deserved it?? Reassuringly, he thinks that our island will remain habitable, however we should expect a massive influx of refugees. Noah's Ark springs to mind!
  15. OMG! I'm photographed on this. My face hasn't been blurred out either. I'm pictured getting out of my car and looking straight at the camera - at least my number plate has been blurred out.
  16. Here's a sporty one.. 'I am a linesman for the County...'

I fully support the campaign to raise awareness of the terrible effects of domestic violence. I genuinely hope that it helps to bring about the radical change that's needed. It's unfortunate that, globally, in countries with vastly different cultures and beliefs to ours, such a change will be much, much harder to achieve. Excellent posts, particularly by Rosie. Edited to add the final sentence.
  18. Hi Solo - can you come along to The Plough on Saturday? - check out the thread in the gossip section (any singles....?) - there should be a few going - it's not just girls (I'm not - last time I checked)...

    a joke

I asked my ex-wife what she wanted for her birthday, to which she replied 'something black and lacy'... So I bought her a pair of football boots.
  20. I see why your confused! The monthly EDF drinks night is tomorrow night (Friday) at the FHT (the thread is in the Lounge section). The meeting at the Plough is on Saturday night and is for the singles (see this thread for info). Does this help??
  21. Great to see they clearly used local girls too! I'm sure I saw dulwichmum in there somewhere..!
