  1. Tamnag Thai is really good, I agree. Liking the up-turned parasols on the ceiling too... though I hope they've been treated with fire retardant - some of those dishes they set fire to can burn quite fiercely... I almost want to pull out my hose when that happens.
  2. You could say that although you were filmed carrying out an illegal manoevre, you can demonstrate that no cyclists were injured in the making of this movie.... perhaps they'll give you a discount.

A pint of Banks's Bitter please. No straw.

Ahem... *clears throat*... I am so shocked to receive this! And quite speechless! Luckily, I have prepared a few words though, just in case I did win... *fumbles in pocket for 6-page acceptance speech* ....I would like to graciously accept this golden star on behalf of all of you, my fellow local people. I know that someone has to win and today, well, its just my lucky day. We are all winners here, my friend... no time for losers, coz we are the champions....hahahahaha! *silence from the auditorium... tumbleweed rolls across the stage* ...Okaayyy..... There are so many people I want to thank tonight... *stagehand pulls plug from microphone*

  8. Moos I agree with you, I don't think anyone is blaming other individuals, it's just the collective 'them' and 'us' syndrome that's at work here. In reality we are all 'us' and so share the responsibility. How to change things is a tricky one. My personal view is that I've never enjoyed reading posts that criticise how others post, because it leads to division and can affect how people post to conform with others. This form of restraint can mean posts can lack individuality and creativity and so are, effectively, dull. Perhaps if the self-imposed leash is loosened somewhat, we can see individuality return once more. Woof is the notable exception here as his posts are superlatively individual, even though I often don't understand them!!
  9. Funny how the problems are down to other forumites and not those complaining on this thread. We all have a share Of responsibility in this little communal venture of ours.... If you want to change it then do something about it and stop yer whining. *goes for a lie down after uncharacteristic angry outburst*
  10. As we are all EDF users, perhaps this thread should be retitled: What has become of us?

  13. I still have an open mind on this one. Maybe the symbol of the cross could so easily have been a fish symbol, or a waggonwheel (mmmm, chocolate...) and the Christian message would have still flourished. However, would this have meant that the subsequent development of the faith is different? So much emphasis is placed on the crucifixion in the christian doctrine, including the way LB describes. Would we all be worshipping in front of a fish symbol, in the way we do the cross? What other changes would there have been?
  14. I'm slightly amused by the term 'tyrannical' being used as a superlative in relation to something that aims to encourage a fairer representation within our democracy. Tyranny? We are a long long way from that, Huge.
  15. located, located. (a repeat episode of that property programme)
  16. Dear Silverfox I have been contacted by someone who claims he can advise me on personal issues. I am reluctant to engage his services because I have concerns over confidentiality and also if this person is suitably qualified. Should I consult him about my fish fetish?
  17. This is an open question and in no way intended to offend. If Jesus had not been killed by the Romans by crucifixion, but by, say, hanging, would that have affected how Christianity subsequently developed? There would not have been the symbol of the cross, for one thing, and his suffering would not have been so great. But his messages, faith and beliefs would not have changed.

  21. Hats off to MrBen for graciously giving ground. This forum is for all and as long as the rules are followed, let's just embrace our differences and enjoy. *throws Woof a large marrow-filled bone and pats his big furry head*
