Dead cat (black and white) lordship lane
jennyh replied to theron2's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well he wasn?t there for breakfast on Friday but that wasn?t so unusual. Then I was at work and away for the night so I actually just thought today I hadn?t seen him and his brother was yowling a lot. Such a rubbish thing to happen but what you did was incredibly thoughtful and we are so grateful. X Dondee Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I?m so sorry for you all. Dead cat (black and white) lordship lane

This was my cat Ash and I spoke to the vet today. He was only two and the loveliest, happiest and cuddliest lap cat ever. He must have accidentally strayed onto the main road from Landcroft Road. I?m really grateful for your kindness and for keeping him cared for even at the end. I have to go and tell my kids now and don?t know quite how to do it. -
Hello It may be a needle in a haystack but I?m looking for someone who drives who could collect my two children from school in Forest Hill and bring them back to East Dulwich on Tuesdays and every other Friday. They would need to collect around 3.30pm and I return from work around 5.30. They are 11 and 8 so don?t require much in the way of childminding! Granted this is a very odd request but maybe there is someone out there! Thanks

Hello Power is off at top end of Landcroft road. Have called supplier which appears to suggest that there is a problem in the area but can anyone else confirm?

Where to take cardboard recycling?
jennyh replied to katezerooo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The big cardboard bins in Sainsbury?s Bell Green usually have space. -
Hello Could someone let me know if they have a copy of today?s Evening Standard? Thanks!

We had cracks which steadily crew and spread around the bay over a few weeks/couple of months. We immediately called the insurance company as we just didn't have the funds to cover any sort of structural work ourselves. It was clear from our cracks that it wasn't just a small amount of movement as it started to warp the windowsill. Anyway to cut a long story short, one subsidence claim later and we have a beautiful new bay and freshly painted house inside and out! We required various works which took around a week to complete. Cost us ?1000 excess otherwise would have been ?6k or thereabouts.

Just a small note to say a huge apology to anyone who PMd me about this, the event didn't come together and then life got in the way and it slipped my mind to reply. Sorry everyone. great to know that there are people out there who might be able to do this in the future though and I won't be so disorganised, hopefully!

Hi I am sorting a small event and require someone to do a short storytelling of a dinosaur book on the 3rd March. Would be great for a primary school teacher or nursery worker maybe on mat leave or anyone who has experience at exciting little children and getting them interacting with a book. Please let me know and I can give more info! Thanks

Hello Not posted for a while but wanted to get the general feeling on The Actress as a venue for regular children's events/activities? I personally think the space to the right of the bar is quite decent but they don't have an active program of events, would people be interested in attending morning events here??? Thanks in advance!

EDITED - no need for replies on meningitis post.
jennyh posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
Edited to say that I now have all of the information I require and I have removed the post out of courtesy for the family involved. Thanks -
Thanks everyone! Still in its early stages as I only have 2 days a week without kids here but I've got a tonne of ideas. The book club will def change a bit to allow for different types of gifts and benefits like discounts/new releases, personalised prints etc. just need to get some stock on the move so I can invest more! Glad people like it, been working on it for 7 months!

Hey everyone Not sure where I am supposed to publish this but I am sure admin will move if it is in the wrong place. As I seem to do most of my posting in the family room and it is the family room I wanted to speak to it made sense... As a long time forumer I have spent ages reading everyone's opinions on going back to work and making work/home balance and lamented myself at childcare dramas and full time vs part time work and having no money left after nursery and travel. AS a result I have started my own business and thought I would just give a head's up in case anyone is interested in giving me some feedback or taking a look. It is a new design-led (hate the phrase but is kinda true) book and print shop for children selling beautiful books that are full of imaginative stories and lovely images. I've tried to buy from the smaller publishing houses and will continue to seek out titles that are not readily available. Everything I have would make lovely gifts and I can also wrap in beautiful paper and scrunchy cellophane for the babies to enjoy. I can offer local delivery in the SE22/SE23 area so please do have a look and share if you like it. www.smallprint-online.com Thanks for looking! Jenny

Oh I definitely am relaxed. Wasn't my intention to get her dry particularly, she just wanted to try so I wanted to help her. Worth a shot but glad it seems to be calming down!

We've gone back to pull ups! She was getting tired when lifting and I was too. But she wet when I didn't lift her and only stayed dry when her drinks were heavily reduced which is clearly not a good thing! So I've managed to persuade her back into pull ups and will wait until she is naturally drier.

Frozen-themed week at nursery.
jennyh replied to Bellenden Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am quite fond of Frozen but my daughter is absolutely obsessed and I try very hard to control her crazy infatuation with it. I would also be annoyed if her nursery made this the focal point for a week and don't think you are being unreasonable. If I had the choice again I probably wouldn't have allowed my daughter to watch it, once she saw it once there was no real going back. We are currently arguing about her 4th birthday being frozen themed, I have put my foot down and said that she can have a frozen cake and wear her elsa dress, I have made it very clear that everyone invited has the choice to dress up if they wish, in the character/role they wish! My point being that I work really hard to move her away from it and if her nursery contradicted me then it would make all of my hard work pointless. -
Thanks everyone. She has been so keen to stay out of the pull-ups so the last couple of nights we let her go without, I continued to wake her at 11ish (so she is conscious of the fact she is going to the toilet, we have a quiet conversation and she agrees she wants the toilet) and she hasn't wet for the rest of the night. I don't have any expectations of her to continue this and don't want to make it hard work so will keep watching it and knock it on the head if it gets tiring or upsetting at all.
-
Ok that's great thank you. She was so tired when I woke her for a wee durin last night that I decided to put a pull up on her to avoid her getting too tired. This morning she came in sobbing that she had the pull ups on, so I was unsure how to continue from here! Like the chart idea, thanks.

Thanks everyone for all of your helpful comments, all are so welcome! To be honest I have no real idea how this is supposed to go so I am grateful. I am not fussed about it really and it wouldn't worry me if we forgot about for now, she just seems so proud of trying and I don't want to put her back in pull-ups if she will find it upsetting. I will approach slowly and see how it goes, but I won't be expecting any grand breakthroughs :) Will take all of your tips, thank you.

Hey Daughter is nearly 4 and has asked if she can stop wearing her pull-ups at night so we want to support her in trying to get dry during the night. She has NEVER been dry at night, she always wees in her sleep but we have to start somewhere and she is eager to try hence thinking the time has come... have done 4 nights now with mixed results. I have woken her to use the potty in her room at about 11pm on each occasion and then twice I have also woken her around 4/5am to use it. On the occasions when I only lifted her at 11 she then went on to wet the bed, once at 2.30 and once at 4. My question is whether I am supposed to stop lifting her and just let her wet the bed in the hope of teaching her the sensation? I feel like if I am waking her to wee then she isn't really learning anything??? I have reduced her drinks but perhaps I need to do so even more. I have also increased the frequency she uses the toilet during the day. She isn't upset about wetting herself and I am not too fussed about all the washing and getting up in the night as I know we have to do this at some point. Any tips gratefully received!

Ha ha! Yes we made a list and printed out pictures of the things she would like and stuck them down. She has sent a letter to Father Christmas asking for a baby annabell doll that yawns etc and then her list for me and her dad is for an Elsa dress, a baby highchair and a hot water bottle. So I prob shouldn't complain, no laptops in site yet!!! :)
