Unfortunately, some people didn't contribute in a constructive way - speaking over others wasn't useful. Did you speak up and say anything sensible or constructive? Maybe consider why people were angry. The Council want to impose the CPZ and constructed the meeting so that people wouldn't get the opportunity to see how others felt. This is not consultation. It's a con and it's insulting. I don't think Councillor McAsh's responses were well presented at all. Yes it was a small minority. A few people kept speaking over others. This was annoying. The majority of people waited their turn to speak. The Councillor didn't really address some of the questions asked and clearly didn't want an open meeting in the first place!

I would guess around 100 - 120 people. In other boroughs there have been court cases. This is only a done deal if we all roll over. I agree - their legacy will be a loss of trust in the Labour Party. I saw the look of shame on one Councillor's face as he left the building. It is only a done deal if people roll over and accept it. I have just returned from a consultation meeting on the Streets For People' at the Church in Barry Road. When I arrived, people were queuing outside the Church - the reason was that they had to wait their turn to sit in small groups to chat with a Councillor. It is clear that this was designed to avoid an open discussion on the imposition of a controlled parking zone (CPZ) in East Dulwich. It was also clear that the majority of people attending the meeting were not in favour of such 'divide and rule' tactics - and we ended up having an open meeting. I am shocked that a Labour Council could stoop so low as to treat the people they represent with such contempt and shocked that Labour Councillors would participate in such an exercise. We were told that it had been made clear on the website/eventbrite that this was how the meeting would be held - I have just looked, to see this is patently not the case - see screenshots. One Councillor stated there has not been any consultation on whether people want a CPZ - the views of the people they represent aren't courted - the Council knows best. This is at odds with the website that says: "Why your views matter We want your views on the Streets for People proposal in your area. In particular we want your input on what days and hours you would prefer the controlled parking to operate - it is important to answer these questions even if your own preference is not to have controlled parking." Why tell us our views matter and the pretence of consultation if this has already been decided? Only one person at the meeting said they were in favour of the CPZ- by a show of hands. Others had left by this point - in disgust. I had hoped to be convinced that this would be a beneficial thing for East Dulwich, but the Councillor failed to make the case for imposing a CPZ. This amounts to meddling by the Council. If the majority of people are in favour (or don't care), so be it. There is no guarantee that this can be stopped, but the only way there is any chance of stopping this is if enough people object to this. Perhaps those of us who feel the same way could get together and consider what action we can take. Shall we roll over or kick off?

Sephiroth, once again, I agree with you! All of this has to be stress tested and credibility checked. Which sources are you suggesting come from sites like David Icke? Currently looking at counter arguments. But also looking at the bigger picture, looking at how the rollout has been implemented, it raises questions. The knee jerk reaction towards anyone who questions the status quo is that they must be a crank. They must be a tin foil hat wearing, lentil eating, tree hugger. I am guilty of this reaction. When someone first knocked on my door talking about phone masts, I did think "Who is this crazy do gooder person?" But digging deeper into the issue uncovered some interesting information. A point made by Jeromy Johnson in TED Talk, 'Wireless wake-up call': "The science is heavily influenced by industry funding. This is a study by Dr. Henry Lai. He looked at 326 studies based on the biological effects of cell phone radiation. He found that about half of the studies showed effects and half didn't. That's pretty normal for this type of research. But what he found that was interesting was that if you looked at who funded the studies, 70% of the independent studies showed effects, and only 32% of the industry-funded studies showed effects." Sepiroth There is a heap of research on the effects of RF radiation. Wondering on what basis you confidently dismiss it so readily as conspiracy theory. Industry does tend to introduce tech without considering the consequences - microplastics being an example.. And we all go along with it for different reasons. I like Netflix! So Brussels, the 3000 physicians are all tin hat wearers? Anyway well done for being so quick off the mark to dismiss it!

I don't know much about this, but understand 5G is already in London - is that right? My friend said that they put devices on the top of every lamppost - perhaps that is what I can see in my street. Thanks all for your responses, for some reason I didn't get a notification that there had been more replies. I did contact the Land Registry but they don't have that information. I also googled it, and it is down to whoever draws up the plans, so no hard and fast rule. One neighbour did claim that he had the information, but has not as of yet been able to produce said evidence...

Does anyone who lives on Henslowe Road have deeds that show which side of the fence you are responsible for. Both my neighbours are saying that I am responsible for the fence separating our properties. :) Simon

Hi All I have a small utility room with a wood worktop. I had to use some oneshot (HCL acid) in the shower to clear a blockage. The gunk leaked onto the worktop, and left a stain (pic attached). I sanded the wood, but the stain remained. I bought some dark wood stain, and have applied a coat, but it looks rubbish: the stained bits look like dark patches. What do I do? Add more coats of the stain, or do I just need to paint the wood now. If so, Am guessing I need to paint black? Suggestions please! Simon

Shame Swadesh doesn't serve alcohol. I highly rated the food when I went to there, I would go as far as saying that it is the best Indian food I have eaten in ED to date... Curious to know what other people's top recommendation is.
