Actually Charlie and Lola isn't on at the moment but is due to return to Polka Theatre next July ....tickets will be going on sale in January. (Yes - I do work for Polka)

Hope everyone and their bumps are doing well. Just remembered that Lucky 7s is on at the Gowlett on Thursdays - so perhaps we should stick to the Actress that night? Unless anyone wants the chance to play DJ - We could kick off with Johnny Mathis - When a Child is Born. See how quickly we could clear the pub ....

Best way to science museum?
Bellenden Belle replied to mrs.lotte's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If you're nearer to the Peckham end, then the 345 goes all the way from Peckham to South Kensington in about 45 minutes. -
Agreed! Definitely one of the best things I've seen this year. In fact not since Grandma's House (where's the second series?) have I actually made a date to watch a comedy on such a regular basis.

Hello everyone, How I envy those starting maternity leave! Three more months left for me! But seriously, I hope everyone enjoys these last few weeks before the newborns arrive. For Nic and others enquiring about meet ups - I think we are now doing every other week - always on a Thursday - and since we met last week that means we aren't due to meet this week (though there are of course some daytime meet ups being arranged). Regarding venue - a couple of people last week thought it might be good to alternate between the Actress and the Gowlett since some people live closer to the Gowlett. Peronslly I think one regular venue might be less confusing but will go with the majority. Hope everyone is keeping well. Caroline x

i don't think it's unlucky at all....in fact I think it's a nice way of involving other people. I've participated in sweepstakes before where we've guessed names, weight and birthdate. You could always do it for charity - http://www.guess2give.com/ We're thinking of doing this for our one due in February as it can then extend to family, friends and work colleagues and no one person has to worry about collecting the money. Go hopefully I say - if anything awful happens, few people will think to criticise you for such a lighthearted gesture.

I honestly don't believe this was the intention of the shop assistant. I don't think sales assistants usually make that strong a connection between branding and offering a bag - far more likely they were running low on bags and saving them for that reason.

Oh Hannahkt - I'm sorry to hear you ended up on your own. Do people think we should just stick to fortnightly meetings at the Actress - seems a better bet and people can always arrange other meet-ups during the day and at other times by posting on here? I can definitely make next Thursday at the actress. Congratulations to all those who have had their second scans - mothercourage, hope yours went well last night. We had ours this morning and it's a boy! Which we are thrilled about! See you all next week. x

Hello folks, Yes - it does seem as if there might be lower numbers than usual - though it looks like Espelli and Tomo are hoping to make it - and others might drop in. I don't want to upset the pub so I'm going to give them a call and ask them to reserve a table for ten. That way we aren't blocking off a whole area, but if people - particularly those who may not visit this thread but might just have it in their diary - do turn up there is a space for them. Sorry I can't be there, Caroline x

I believe tickets may be sold out - worth checking on the Royal Court website. I'm going tomorrow night. I'm a big fan of the writer's work - debbie tucker green (the lower case is intentional, natch) - though from reviews from the run at the Royal Court where it premiered a couple of months back this work might be bolder in some aspects, leading to a more uneven play than she usually writes. But I think it's terrific the Royal Court has set up court in Peckham. I'm glad it's doing so well - although there is a whole other debate about whether it is really reaching new audiences or catering for the same well-heeled crowd as it would in Sloane Square.

Newly pregnant - Advice on midwives / The Lanes please!

When I was researching this a few months ago I stumbled on this document on the internet - I don't know how up to date the information is but it's useful for an overview and for useful telephone numbers. -
Newly pregnant - Advice on midwives / The Lanes please!
Bellenden Belle replied to elve's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Congratulations on your pregnancy - you're in a great area for new mums! You don't need to change GPs - you just need to ring the midwives and go on their waiting list. But priority will be given to DMC patients first. If they are similar to Oakwood midwives, they will take on a limited number of pregnant women due each month I know this because despite my GP being in Peckham, I went on the waiting list. Lanes never came through for me but Oakwood did - so it's worth trying. Also in East Dulwich are the Brierley midwives - though they prioritise home births and patients with a history of mental health issues. -
Hello ladies, I have had a hugely stressful week and have decided I just need to curl up with a book tonight. Hope you have a terrific meeting tonight. As for Tuesday - I can't make it - but I know Mikandnik is hoping to be there and HannahKT has clearly already got her pizza order ready - so I have reserve da table in the same place as last time from 7pm - in the corner to your right hand side as you walk in. And hopefully I will see lots of you on the following Thursday meet. Caroline x

Lovely to see people again - and to see lots of new faces. There were just so many of us, it was difficult to talk to everyone - hopefully there will be a chance next time. Are we still thinking of alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays and swapping between the Gowlett and the Actress? I definitely can't do Tuesday 11th but I am more than happy to still book a table for people. A few of us first timers were talking about a thread on here where people talked about equipment they found particularly useful and things they ended up not using and I promised to post a link - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,639658,page=1 Hope to see you all soon. x

Certain schools have always had special status in regards to the musical provision they provide. Just as some grammar schools select on academic ability. This is a million miles away from x-factor auditions, and is merely giving children who may have musical ability access to teachers with particular skills in that area.

Seriously James? You really think the colour of our bins is the most important question that can be posed at the next council assembly?
