  1. Celia Hammond may well have saved your cat's life but you won't move your mouse for 2 seconds and give them a chance at some much need funding but post that drivel? WTF man, seriously some people...
  2. Thanks for the heads up, our girls came from there and they are fantastic people who really deserve to win this, just voted and really hope they win.
  3. There is a particularly horrific place in Hell reserved for on the bus chicken & chips eaters, mark my words those examples of human excrement WILL suffer for all of eternity.
  4. The whole thing was incredibly badly managed from start to finish. Whoever was responsible for it's planning, design and signing off on it has no place being employed in any form of public works. It's counter intuitive and very dangerous for both cyclists and pedestrians. I certainly wouldn't even think about cycling on it. The stretch between the traffic lights and the main road is particularly dangerous, with the shops on the corner blaring out music, pedestrians can't hear bikes coming from behind, made worse by all the red light jumpers and it's just a bloody mess really.
  5. I had a similar experience walking up LL from Goose Green a couple of months ago; no traffic for three or four minutes in the early evening, then a solitary bus, was weird, but cool, being also a child of 71 it also brought me back for a moment : )
  6. If cannabis was legalised, at least the tax would hopefully go towards the huge numbers of lung cancer treatments it causes and puts the NHS under extra strain for and if available in oils, edibles etc it would help out a ton of people living with the many health issues it has proven to relieve the pain of. Sadly, no matter what the government, I can't ever see it being legalised in the UK, which is a shame imho. Regarding those canisters, unfortunately I see them all over the place in ED, regularly on our street too and it's something that is obviously getting worse and worse.
  7. Hope you get the care you need Foxy, look after yourself and keep warm.
  8. Glad you guys enjoyed it. I find that the longer the pieces are there, the more I appreciate them.
  9. I love Stik's work and love that we have some of it in ED; just thought it was worth posting this I found by chance https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-34118088/graffiti-artist-stik-s-life-painting-on-the-streets
  10. Completely agree, uncleglen; you can also invite people around and cook something nice together too.
  11. If that's so about computedshorty I'm very sad to hear it, I learnt a lot about the area from his posts as he had been in ED much longer than my almost 40 years and thought he just got tired of the occasional clash of words on here.
  12. A better way is to take a college course or find a good youtube channel for the kind of food you would normally order in and learn to cook it yourself. That way you won't be supporting exploitative labour practices, have food prepared in a hygienic environment, have peace of mind regarding the freshness and quality of ingredients and not be destroying your long term health by not overloading the "meal" with sugar and salt used as preservatives and msg to trick you into thinking the slop you've just [over] paid for actually tastes remotely good.
  13. Maybe the Gideons are leaving books in gardens, on buses [praise the Lord, save the 40!] and street corners now?
  14. I can't recommend a natural solution, but would advise you to request that your GP refer you to a urology dept asap [the delays for referrals can be long] as the symptoms of a UTI can be a sign of other conditions, especially in men. Guys have a fantastic urology dept. A lot of over the counter medications may contain potassium, which builds up, potentially causing other issues. If you want something natural whilst you [hopefully] get a formal diagnosis, I find the staff at Health Matters on Lordship Lane to be very helpful and you can call first if you find it embarrassing to talk about in person.
  15. Our Sky broadband died for about 30 minutes late last night, at the same time our 3 service went to Emergency Calls Only. Finally cancelled my 3 contract last month, they've been calling every other day trying to tempt me back ever since, no way I'd even consider it.
  16. My feelings exactly; honestly very sad to read this, but that's such a decent thing to do Monkey, much respect to you for that. Thoughts are with the cat's former servants : (
  17. James Barber would never have taken this stance. We miss you James!!!
  18. Thanks for the tip, put it in my diary!
  19. Seems they predictably prefer taking the gravy train rather than buses.
  20. Beautiful isn't it? I was on the bus going towards Forest Hill the other day, and on the top of the hill as it rose it was absolutely massive, thought I was tripping for a second, just wonderful : )
  21. I'm really sorry to hear your catbro isn't too well and has gone missing. I'll adjust my walks to go around that area and will carry some cat treats and blanket to see if I can take him home if I see him.
  22. Blackfriars to Guy's is a lot worse than from where the 40 stops, and it's the only bus that goes directly there from ED. If you are going to hospital, there's something wrong with you so of course it's an issue.
  23. No good if you are going to Guy's hospital though.
  24. That's crazy, and surely the entire point of the route??? I love the 40, it has some of the nicest drivers and is such a great route. Seeing how many city workers there are in ED it's really going to hit the local people if this goes ahead and it'll just cause huge crowding at the Elephant nad Castle stop, bloody idiots!
  25. Hi eastDAG I really wanted to document it myself : ( but will look forward to seeing how it went down at your site : )
