  1. Made me chuckle, thanks for sharing that :)
  2. Personally, I love the idea of a cafe in the new library! I fail to see how the hell James hasn't got an invite to the opening, or indeed why he hasn't been asked to formally open the library after all his hard work in bringing it to the community. Does it really make any sense not to celebrate and recognise his heartfelt and tireless efforts? Whoever's choice this was, karma is sure going to make their life miserable!
  3. Looks like some work is going on at Threshers now, finally.
  4. Great to hear he's back home :)
  5. I can't imagine the amount of crap you had to fight, nor the hours of waffle and attempts at derailing this from finally happening, but, as with all the rest of the fine work Goose Green and the surrounding areas has benefited from, a huge thank you James and I hope you stand for councillor again. I still can't believe the results of the last local election.
  6. It's really nice to hear the place is doing well and having events that the local community can enjoy, well done to the team!
  7. Go for it, you'll be advocating installing Gentoo in no time : ) Mint makes for a nice easy introduction into Linux before you find out what you really want from it and find something more to your taste. Good luck updating your RAM or SSD when they are soldered to the motherboard with Crapple & paying 3x the cost of the actual hardware!
  8. You can mod the hell out of win10, imho it's easily the best and most efficient version since 2000, seriously if you have any complaints over the UI is down to inaction on your part am afraid. Do your daily backup, ensure your automated cloud backup has run, make a restore point and get modding! Of course you can and really should also look into dual booting with another OS, such as Linux, and start learning your way around the terminal. Hell, you can even run Bash in Win10 natively now so there's no excuse.
  9. He looks like quite the character, I hope he comes back home soon, great that you got him chipped.
  10. It still stings that the Silvester Road office closed, it being just a 10 minute walk away, the staff being really good and it always just being there and now taken away gets my goat up, and the local posties have never looked unhappier and they have a bloody hard job as it is. I have no connection to the company below, but have used them to send parcels (and have parcels sent to me) without ever having an issue, nothing missing, no packages damaged and the price not much difference, sometimes even cheaper than the Post Office, definitely worth a look if you want trackable packages sent securely - in my experience. I think the only drawback is iirc they only send within the UK. https://www.myhermes.co.uk/
  11. Don't knock on peoples doors for charity donations please. We are all quite capable of choosing which charities to donate money/time to securely online or in person at a bricks & mortar location without being disturbed. This area has also been repeatedly targeted by charity scams which you should surely be aware of. Please don't harm the environment by pushing unwanted dead trees through letterboxes either. Running "multiple charities" sounds suspicious as hell to me.
  12. A P13 bus driver told my wife the diversion was ending in 2 days this evening, it seems nobody has a real clue what is going on. The amount of roadworks that get repeated within ever decreasing periods of time is getting ridiculous on LL in recent years!
  13. Our postie said last week that there were still piles of undelivered mail left over from the Silvester Road sorting office in their backlog and that regular posties were, against their employment agreements (due to incline, physical ability to be capable/not capable of doing certain routes) being sent on routes other than their regular ones instead of these being covered by the agency staff. He also mentioned that they were all getting a bad name now as the Peckham sorting office had a bad rep as everyone knew that organised fraud went on in there, but the Police had never done anything about it in years and a lot of people had their hands dirty. I waited outside for almost an hour in the freezing cold last Saturday, with the queue backing up down the road in front of the Peckham sorting office and the lady who retrieved my wife's parcel was charming and very helpful, despite it almost being closing time by the time I got seen and there being an angry mob outside. Nothing was missing in the parcel either.
  14. I hope their acid gets spilled on them when they get hit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-london-46321715/thieves-knocked-off-mopeds-by-police-in-london
  15. The only "movement plan" Southwark council are interested in is the movement of funds from construction/highway maintenance company bungs into the hands/obfuscated bank accounts of those at the top of the planning departments, that's a commonly known fact.
  16. Funny thing is the antics of the protest just led to a ton more fumes in the atmosphere with all the buses, cars and heavy goods vehicles idling while the prats pranced about making everyone's life a misery and endangering a few lives as there were ambulances stuck with their sirens doing nothing due to the gridlock this morning. Absolutely pathetic and misguided behaviour!
  17. Yup, this morning things were fine, apart from a 15 minute delay either way at Elephant and Castle, still a thing at 12pm, looks like some kind of protest plus apparently there was a crash earlier. Buses now on diversion as OP said and no signs on either bus stop in Goose Green, bloody TFaiL
  18. You are more likely to See a red squirrel than a beat cop in ED these days, sadly. I think we should get a reduction in our council tax as we effectively have no police service that we pay for.
  19. Saw a geezer walk in to M&S on LL last week, fill his bomber jacket up with prime cuts and a chicken then put on a sudden burst of speed and was out of there. There was no staff at any of the checkouts so told a member of staff who, weirdly asked us to tell the manager about it, not sure why they couldn't do it! He just walked over to the exit, saw the guy long gone, shrugged his shoulders and went back to dressing the shelves. Have seen the really nasty security guards in Sainsburys grill obviously innocent people and demand they open their handbags etc even after they stopped themselves immediately after something set the door alarm off. But when the usual crowd of freeloading kids come in for a tour of the aisles, eating and drinking to their hearts content, nothing is done.
  20. I love cats more than pretty much anything else on Earth, am honestly so sorry to hear about Tyler : (
  21. Really glad to hear he is back home safe and sound, we keep seeing your posters for him and nosing around whenever we hear a meow we don't recognise around Goose Green. Saw the poster near the Co-Op last night when it was cold and a bit wet and felt sad for all the missing kitty cats around the area, what great news for you both!
  22. Sorry to hear your "mama chari" has been lifted, do try the following accounts to see if it appears on there:
  23. Tried these? It's worth disguising nice bikes as a beater, hope you get her back!
  24. Or contact Dirk Gently?
