  1. I thought Virgin Media customers measured their speed in carrier pigeons per hour?
  2. Venture into deepest Peckham, there's tons of shops, places to eat and drink plus events going on there and a farmers market [also one at the Horniman Gardens]. ED also has a few interesting Blue Plaques to find.
  3. Squatters scouting for a free house now the Police Station is no longer? I hope you reported this to 101 and emailed the photos to the SNT.
  4. They don't do same day appts unless the Dr - usually a locum decides you need one by performing a "triage" via telephone first - to get your regular Dr means waiting for up to 6 weeks usually. This GP has been utterly ruined and it is a bloody disgrace.
  5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle activity?
  6. A few years ago, the Music Exchange in Notting Hill still bought pre-recorded tapes. The medium is alive and well for many indie bands; I really enjoyed this short on them: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22533522 And this is a fab piece you can sling into your deck's spare 5.25 bay [unless you have a bleeding-edge case which are designed without them] http://uedata.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ICAGC
  7. If I saw anyone doing that, I'll happily remove the perps head.
  8. The cycle lane on the Tabernacle side looks like it goes into a really sharp and hard to navigate turn opposite the college of communication, not to mention this is bound to cause collisions between pedestrians and cyclists. Were the developers on drugs or something? The whole of the area now looks a lot more dangerous for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers, wtf happened?
  9. That is very suspicious - you would always get a text and alert from Amazon first, they would never call you about a delivery - only if you had requested a callback about a service/refund issue. This area is getting targetted way too often lately, did their number show up on your call records? Would be worth reporting it to the Police imho.
  10. Nice to hear your bro is back! One of ours went missing for a day and came back wet and meowing yeterday, was worried sick. Sainsbury's do various canned fishes for less than a pound which make a nice reward for coming back safely!
  11. Signed, though seeing how all the top people in Southwark council appear to be bung taking, money leeching, corrupt bastards anything with the potential to line their filthy hands is going to get steamrolled into existence sadly.
  12. I remember that shop, wasn't that also on North Cross Road? Guy with a beard ran it, used to have archaeological stuff like arrow heads, etc as well as the Military gear? There must have been a different joke shop on Grove Vale as the one I remember in 1980 was the one on North Cross Road..
  13. Yup, iirc it was painted yellow and had a clown's face over the door. Think it stayed closed for a while, re-opened as something else, then turned into Strans, which was a great place to have a haircut until he won so many awards his prices shot up.
  14. He's so cute it's a shame that he may not be receiving the amount of care required (or maybe he's just a mischievous cat). He might have a thyroid problem if constantly hungry and already being well fed by his owners though.

    Lead Pipes

I seem to remember this was an issue that was discovered & recognized by whatever Thames Water (the Water Board???) in the early 80s in East Dulwich & they arranged for homeowners with concerns for lead piping to be replaced, but wouldn't be surprised if a fair few properties got missed.
  16. 2 new cars on Crawthew Grove keyed in the last week - drunks coming home from The Bishop maybe?
  17. We are on Crawthew Grove, and the cellar often used to get flooded in the early 80s-mid 90s it still happens when there is extreme rain, but not for a year or so I think. This used to happen to neighbors up the street too, but since people tend to buy, renovate and move out every few months on this road nowadays I have no contact with any of our neighbors so am unsure if it's still a street wide issue any longer.
  18. Before you upgrade - especially if it's a laptop, check to see if there are signed drivers available for it, especially for the graphics card/chip. Win10 does a much better job, native driver wise than Win8.1. Also note that most laptops don't tend to have more than 4 gigs of ram. Because of the [controversial] way win10 handles processes it will run like a crippled child unless you have more than that. It goes without saying you need to backup all files, bookmarks etc before the upgrade and you'll need to take into account the extra space on your HD needed for the OLD folder [in case you wish to downgrade within the 1 month period allowed].
  19. Oh, just a small tip; sign into your Google account in Chrome before uninstalling it - that way you won't lose your bookmarks and history.
  20. Absolutely, most people are cooking, eating, or resting at that time. I think its well out of order knocking on people's doors for any form of charity or sales, quite frankly.
  21. I'd like to second James Barber, I haven't seen or read about any other councilor or MP doing half as much as he does for the area.
  22. Thanks Jules, it looks like ths has put my mind at ease, very kind of you to offer though. As there are still a few older residents on this street, I was a bit concerned. Good to know, thank you for posting ths!
  23. Did anybody else have someone claiming to be collecting for Greenpeace around 7pm tonight? I didn't open the door, but they didn't sound like your average chugger and I got the feeling they may have been a scammer or checking which houses were unoccupied. Would appreciate any replies if they were in the area and if it was just me that felt they were dodgy.
  24. Went in there around 4pm, several sections of floor still felt damp, they had the roof heaters on full blast, lots of food in the chilled cabinets looked misty. Huge queues at the tills. I walked out, didn't feel like getting food poisoning from there again.
  25. Terrible to see our council tax being squandered yet again. The pavement on the block from The Palmerston to Hisar is awful, and dangerous, yet year on year, nothing is done about it, the whole of Lordship lane has terrible pavements.
