  1. Hi Cora, I'm a year 4 Primary school teacher. I'm assuming your child is in Year 4? (or going into year 4 from Sept) Anyway, in Year 3 and 4 there are Optional Sats Papers- I'm sure there are websites which offer free downloads. (let me know if you have difficulty finding them I'm sure I have some on a memory stick somewhere) It doesn't matter which date they are from. The main downfall for children during SATS is not answering the qestions properly. Simply getting your child to read the qestions properly and have practise answering different questioning is good preparation! HOpe that helps? Anna
  2. Some more fantastic suggestions. Molly, That does tempt me but I know an 11pm finish is just tooo early. Pugwash, Most places state an 11pm end but then have optional extensions, this is something I need. The Horniman are not flexible on this so are pretty much ruled out. Hence why I'm open to suggestions which are not official wedding venues.Bussey Building can stay open until 2am or 4am! This a bit extreme but I'd want the option to go to 12 or 1am at least! Although Charlton House, Eltham Palace and HAmpton House are beautiful, they have no meaning to me and are a bit 'typical' wedding and could be anywhere if you know what I mean. Distilers pus, Delfina and Old Billingsgate are FAB. I love the thought of being in Old Billingsgate looking over london/Thames. and I love the free option at the Distilers pub.... I could have a FREE bar all day/night and with MY friends, won't be left bankrupt ;) Mates rates at The Royal Festival Hall Tomo? ;) Otta- Great to know you liked Garden's Museum. That, the Pump house and Almshouse are high on the list. Queen's house is beautiful but ??? and although there is no official budget, I have 2 young children so feel I couldn't justify a hugely expensive wedding.- I would prioritise a FREE bar all day/night over a more expensive venue! I know this may be a bit contentious but I would much rather the money I pay for a venue to benefit a charity, council or museum rather than a Public school or profit making business. I just like the idea of my money going back into the community- (Getting soft in my old age?) hence The South London Gallery, Garden's museum and park options appealing to me. It's a shame there isn't a nice building slap bang in the middle of Peckham Rye Park!! All these ideas have got me so inspired. I've run out of printer ink printing out all the brochures. Partner is rolling his eyes at the thought of visiting anywhere... perhaps I'll take my 'hens' for a test drive in some of the pub/bar options! Oh God, I'm painting a pretty drink motivated picture of myself... well if the cap fits!
  3. Wow... Such great venues. Pump house looks beautiful as does Vaults.. STUNNING. I love the idea of the Bussey building and roof terrace overlooking Peckham. Um maybe I need to decide how much work I want to do myself. Bussey Building would probably need lots of personal touches and decorations, whereas the RSA wouldn't require much. I knew I could rely on forum for ideas! Thank you so much for ideas so far. Keep them coming. Partner will LOVE you all for adding to the list of potential venues to visit ;)
  4. BeccaL I used to have ballet lessons here oh and many a NCT sale so a thought.. Catgirl, I do LOVE the Horniman but I'm not keen to travelling, always a possibility though. ummm still need a reception venue though! KittyS.. This is the venue the Mum suggested. I have no memory of visiting there but apparently I did, which makes it meaningful. I LOVE the idea of the money I pay supporting a charity like this and the building is beautiful....Opposite Registry office.. Urban Chic... deffo booking a visit there. Thanks so far.. keep them coming
  5. Hi all, After getting some inspired ideas from a random Mum I bumped into, I thought I'd pick your brains... So after (finally) getting engaged, I'm in the chicken/egg situation. Set a date/pick a venue! I am hoping that somewhere on the Forum, someone knows about a perfect venue for my wedding. If you're up for the challenge, here's my brief: about 70-100 for meal 100+ reception. Obviously I would cull the guest list if I found the perfect venue Born and bred in SE15 so somewhere local would be ideal but deffo a London Venue. I'm not religious so happy for a Southwark Registary Ceremony and then that will open up the options for reception venues (i.e. no wedding licence is neceaasry!) I want something quirky but not crazy! i.e. I LOVE the Horniman conservatory (visited often as a child so special memories) BUT it's only 100 capicity and finishes at 11pm..... I would like the option to party on into the small hours! I Love Beauberry (Belair) house (had ballet exams there as a child) but sister in law nabbed that one a few years ago. I have also started thinking about Trinity Wharf (Last lighthouse in London, Vinopolis (Lovely brick vaults), Kingswood House (for that Ghetto Chic!) and The Garden Museum (Church ambience but 'civil' setting...?) Obviously these are all licenced venues.. anyone know how to search for just reception venues? and my DO NOT LIKE list.. Dulwich College (it's beautiful but too formal and just not really me!) Dulwich Picture Gallery (Between us we will no doubt deface a valuable painting) Thanks! Ideas gratefully recieved and the selected venue.... winner may even recieve an invite to the big day!! ;)
  6. Hi all, Anyone around this pm for a meet up at The Garden's? Also if anyone is with toddler on Thurs, I'm taking mine to a storyteller session at the new Dish and Spoon cafe on cheltenham rd (near swings end of peckham rye park). Storyteller is fab and coffee is amazing. ?5 per family from 10:15
  7. Hi all, Hope everyone's well and enjoyed the extended weekend (everyday is a weekend for us though right?) Anyway there are some WBC coming to The House of Tippler for my delayed 30th, engagement and general night out celebration. Please do come and have a cocktail if you can be released from duties. I'll be there from 7ish this fri (8th June) and I have reserved the whole back section. Some of my NCT mum friends will be there too so should we miss our babies too much, there will be new mums to talk to! Partners obviously also welcome. Anna x
  8. Sounds good. I'm going to whitstable for weekend but not sure when we'll decide to go down or come back. Up for it if around though so I will confirm this weekend. Hope all's well x
  9. Just walking past swings. I'm assuming we're meeting in enclosed area outside rose garden with the tree trunks and a few picnic tables? Anyone there yet? We've got a spotty red and white blanket and a plastic dog for ease of recognition!
  10. I've decided to collect daughter no 1 early today as weather so beaut! May swing by later to see if you're still there X
  11. Thanks for email details.. keep them coming. I will send an email and copy everyone in soon and then anyone else who wants to be added can pm me and I'll continue to add new names! Nabz, do not mistake us for the Spring baby club who also meet on Tues at the Gardens! you'll have to eye up the babies to check! Perhaps whoever srrives first this week could message on forum where they're sitting? I'm without toddler this week so am hoping to make it.. earlier is better for me so if anyone fancies meeting from 1:30 it'll buy me abit more gossip/cake time before I have to rush off! Also, as mentioned previously, a group of mum friends (most who have also recently had babies) and I are running the Race for Life 10k on july 1st. I know some of you were considering joining us, well there are 6 weeks to go and that's the perfect length of time to implement a training plan!! just let me know and I'll send you group link. Hope this rumour of good weather is true!
  12. Nabz, never too late. I think it takes a few months for most mums to get settled and confident with venturing out/ routines etc Most of the first time mums (and 2nd timers with toddlers at nursery) meet at 2 at the gardens cafe on tuesday. We're all about to swap email addresses as the new WBC will take over soon so make sure you've swapped deets. Infact, Jane/sara I don't want to take over but I'm happy to add to email list if people want to pm me their contact details. We had a few park meet ups when it was warmer which hopefully we'll be able to do again. Picnics, chuck down some toys and there was even the odd bottle of wine ;) Steph!! I'll be there briefly on tues I hope so looking forward to seeing you then if you can make it! X Anna
  13. No toddler tomorrow so free for relaxing coffee meet up. 2pm? Hope everyone's enjoyed bank holiday! X
  14. Hurrah, Both kids asleep in buggy. I'll be in garden's cafe from 2. I'm the one with a giant double buggy, 2x sleeping (?!?) Children, a bike and generally looking like a bag lady!
  15. WIll try to.. Naps usually run to 2:30 in our house so hopefully we'll make it shortly afterwards.. although last attempt to make it, she had a mammoth sleep. Finegrs crossed!
  16. Was thinking about you the other day, hoping all was ok. Jeez it must be tough with reflux. hope medication works! Let mw know when you're out and about a bit more. Would love to meet him! Anna x OMG just re-read EDITING spelling mistake.. the shame!
  17. Toddler still sleeping!! Don't want to wake her as actually able to get on with chores!! Sorry to be missing meet up..
  18. Hi all, Incase anyoone is interested... I have just signed up with some Mums from my NCT group (all recently had their 2nd babies) to run the 10k Race For Life. The race is on Blackheath on Sunday July 1st. That gives us just over 9 weeks to put a good training plan into action! If you are interested in joing our group, we are planning to arrange meet ups for training in the park and I have downloaded some good programmes for beginner runners to build up to 10k in 8 weeks. PM me and i can 'invite' you to join group. Now I know this might sound terrifying.. I myself have NEVER run 10k in my life but we're assuming that if some of the women who participate are suffering from cancer, then we should be able to do it too! For me it's a way of contributing to a good cause after the safe delivery of my healthy baby! However, if this is TOTALLY not for you but you'd like to help. Then visit our page http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/mums-on-the-run4 On another note... I'm around with toddler for a bit tomorrow pm.. is anyone up for Garden's coffee/cake action? Haven't seen any of the first timers for AGES. Hope you're all doing ok x
  19. Can make Tues pm this week too. See you after toddler's nap..3pmish X
  20. I have toddler again tomorrow.. Planning on going to M&C pilates so can meet in Garden's cafe from 11:30ish? Anyone around and fancy that? Hope everyone is well. We had a successful picnic on Thurs and if weather is nice, will do again.
  21. Hi all, We're meeting at 3:30pm in enclosed area in Peckham Rye Park. (Outside the Rose Garden) Throwing down picnic blankets and bringing toys and toddlers tea. (possibly the odd bottle of wine for us mums!) All welcome. PM me if you'd like my mobile if you don't have it already. Hurrah to the sunny afternoons! Anna x
  22. We're up for it again.. Will try to remember bread too ;) 3:30ish by peckham park cafe? Little wonder then tea at the Herne again. See you tomorrow x
  23. Hi Caroline.. I hope things are getting easier for you.. sounds like you're out of the crazy baby haze now! Looking forward to meeting little one! We've been meeting at the Garden's after Powerpramming recently 1:30pmish. It seems it's a toddler free day for a few of us so lovely to get the babies together and rant/ coo/ eat! Hopefully see you then x
