  1. I know, in broad day light too! He just ran away. Apparently she whacked a would-be handbag theif once and he also ran away empty handed! Don't mess with the MIL!
  2. Sorry, maybe 'theft' is a better word to use? Not sure Anyway incident has been reported to Peckham Rye Police so hopefully they can pop by to deter any further attempts.
  3. My mother in law was at he cashpoint on Lordship lane today. She was feeling unnerved by a guy who was standing close to her at cashpoint. He soon disappeared. Whilst her bank card and PIN number was in machine, another man came up and shoved a piece of paper to obscure buttons. He pressed something (assuming it was 'cancel') and the card was ejected. He attempted to snatch the card. MIL has heard of this being used before so was vigilant and not 'confused' by paper distraction. She gave him an elbow and retrieved the card before he did. If no one has heard of this technique before then they may be stunned by paper and too slow to react to card being taken. Be vigilant!
  4. Thank you to all the replies with contacts and viewing offers. We have already viewed two conversions and have two more lined up. What a great resource the ED forum is!! Unfortunately we will have no choice but to lower the ceilings in the existing bedrooms and our loft clearance is barely 6ft. As we saw yesterday, this doesn't compromise the sense of space in the existing bedrooms at all. It's been really interesting hearing/ seeing the variety of configurations. I'd be interested to see what the local planning rules are as we back on to a 'Family Mosaic' monster conversion (top of Ivydale Rd), where they have added a HUGE extension to the back and joined together several houses. Our property faces onto the shorter post-war houses so I'm hoping there wont be a problem with us having large velux windows at the front.
  5. Hi, We live in a mid-terrace victorian house in Nunhead. (Similar to victorian houses on Ivydale road) Definitely getting our loft conversion done, simultaneously with neighbour, and would LOVE to view as many configurations as possible. Is anyone willing to allow a quick viewing.. Or has recommendations for architects, builders etc? Any help would be gratefully received. Payment in wine available! Thanks
  6. We're walking through park after sleeps so see you afterwards
  7. I bought a double buggy.. insisted on a rear and forward facing side by side (First Wheels City twin) which I love.. but very BIG. Anyway toddler now 2 1/2 and baby 6 months and toddler insists on walking/ scootering/ riding balance bike everywhere and I have buggy board for tired journeys home. No need for double buggy at all. It's just gathering dust in front room. See how you get on without one as the transition from barely walking long journeys, to running along ahead of you is quick!
  8. Ava loved football training today! Lots of great little games. Highly recommenmded. Little Urchin enjoyed it too! Beth, Woman is Nicola from childsleepsolutions.co.uk I hope that helps. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Feel free to come and support 'Mums on the run'- 5 of us doing the 10k Race for Life in Blackheath on Sunday. If weather is good maybe a wine/beer picnic on the heath with toys for toddlers afterwards? Otherwise I'll be in the nearest pub to the finish line!
  9. We are actually Lindsay. Used to go to diddidance but fancied checking out a toddler football programme in peckham. I'm going to phone in morning to enquire but Ava's been asking to play so might check it out. It's in Let's Go southwark magazine and it's free. I'll let you know tomorrow. Otherwise the Bookstart at Rye Oak school is fantastic outdoor play, toys, song time and plenty of stimulation for babies too?
  10. Try this web site for educational play activities http://handsonaswegrow.com/2012/04/50-toddler-activities.html
  11. With toddler tomorrow so am busy with her in morning. I'm still planning to go to the Garden's at 2pm as usual though. Can bribe toddler with cake....again! Hope to see some of you then x
  12. It's all free parking nearby but some time restricted bays directly outside (prob better parking in nearby streets just off nunhead lane) Hollydale rd is good for parking usually. Station is just at the very end of ivydale rd. let's aim for Nunhead station at 9:50ish. Gives us 10mins to make it up the stairs!!
  13. Is it easier to meet at Nunhead station then? Guaranteed buggy space, no risk of strike? It's abouta 10/15min walk from Denmark hill station. I'll be aiming to get there for 9:50ish to get 10am train but there's one again at 10:13 if we miss it and the more the merrier as we can help eachother with buggies/stairs x
  14. Oooh we'll be there. Not at diddidance tomorrow. Lindz, as you're so close to me, let me know if you fancy getting bus together.. Infact we'll probably all end up on the same bus! See you tomorrow x
  15. Beth, We have met and I'm hoping to meet up today. Will have toddler with me so won't be for that long as she'll be desperate to get to the park! Hope to see you later x
  16. This IS a genuine recommendation for South London Dance Studios though! Daughter started Melody Movement classes there (from 18months + I think) and is now in Nursery class. It's a formal ballet setting and teaches ballet as a discipline but through song and stories initially. Daughter honestly LOVES it there but she responds to the formal setting. If you're after a bit more of a run around/ dancing/ play session then perhaps not suitable for your child.
  17. Check out web site EDTOTS very useful directory of activities! And... welcome!
  18. Hi all, I think spots are filled. It works out ?20pp if 7-8 people club together I think. Check out her web address I think it's www.childsleepsolutions.co.uk but you can serch forum too. Nicola- highly recommended. Good luck in your quest for sleep! Anna x
  19. Lindsey, I'll forward your email to the sleepless crew! I hope after all your activity yesterday you managed some 'rest' time for darling son 1! X
  20. Well done Steph. Did little madamn continue this good behaviour? If anyone is interested (some of us already did this pre-baby) my NCT mum friends who are fed up with lack of sleep are organising Nicola from child sleep solutions to do a seminar on baby sleep. I honestly think her advice helped me establish a good routine. We all thought she was fantastic when we did seminar and my friends were hoping for some more specific information regarding establishing some sleep training. They all have had winter babies too so all information will be baby age appropriate. Please let me know if you are interested in joining their meeting. My friend is hosting at her house right by kings college hospital and they only need a couple more people. Cost is ?20 pp providing there are enough takers and they're a lovely bunch! P.s I think the tues 3rd is pencilled as day but they can confirm.

Will keep thinking... just checked it out. They have extension until 2am if required!!
  22. My friends had their reception at the EDT but lots of the guests ended up downstiars smoking and bumping into uninvited guests in main bar and not really returning upstairs! I've never heard of that island before YAK and I love the idea of 'trapping' my guests onto an island!! God I sound like Bridezilla! Defo got the unique factor though. This has turned into a really useful thread for anyone to browse who may be interested in a London wedding. Such useful suggestions. I feel like I have an army of planners now! If anyone fancies adding 'must haves' for a wedding I'll greatly appreciate that too. One things I've seen recently is a basket full of flipflops labelled 'Dancing shoes'. I love that idea!
  23. Just re-ready your comment.. the papers are 8 years old, not your child! oops SATs are pretty much being done away with anyway. This is the last real year and even then they were optional. The schools don't have to accept the grade given if they decided to get them externally marked. This said, I believe it is still useful to have as much experience of answering different questioning as they will experience this during teacher assessment and later on in secondary school anyway.
