Perhaps you could raise the massive puddles in the pavement on the east side from Hansler Road to Whateley Road as I have found Highways have not acted at all in resolving these.

And if they don't have their lights on at night they can be difficult to see too. Yes, if we're driving, cycling, walking we're all wise to see and be seen but if a person on a bike or in a car is all in black with no lights then they are difficult to see and once you've been hit and wiped out by whatever moving object it's too late to say it was someone else's responsibility to see me. But in the end it's up to the person in black with no lights how visible or not they wish to be.

There does seem to be increasing use of an unofficial cycling get up which is black trousers, black jacket, black headgear (not usually a helmet) which makes cyclists and electric motorised cycle riders effectively invisible at night. For example, a number of cycling delivery drivers seem to choose this get up. It is their choice but it's a risky choice and a difficult one for a rational person to understand.

The Telegraph and the other right wing media, do they hate Britain?
Moovart replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Not sure advocating decapitation for an irritating to some TV presenter, counts as a bit of light relief. Pretty distasteful really ☹️ -
I believe those particular shop frontages belong to the freeholders rather than to the council and that the council's bit of the pavement is the narrow uneven bit with the massive trees planted in it.

Who would be inconvenienced by such an adjustment to the route?

It worked for me. Sounds like a good idea and a very sensible proposal. I hope it gets approval 🤞

The AA was very helpful to me when I was issued 3 PCNs in one week while on holiday despite being legally parked. Seems the parking wardens didn't understand the rules. My appeal was rejected on all three PCNs but when I wrote again with supporting correspondence from the AA, giving Southwark the opportunity to avoid going to tribunal, all the PCNs were withdrawn. During this time many other PCNs were issued in the same place and I'll bet many people just paid up unfairly until the parking wardens were further educated and stopped ticketing that area. The problem is now solved. I'm guessing most people haven't the time or the confidence to go to tribunal so if an appeal is rejected by a local authority when it shouldn't be, I would guess that the authority will frequently make money from that unfairly paid up PCN and that's dishonest. Enforcement should always be correct and justified.

I had a similar experience a few years ago when a relative said she had seen a letter that I had sent to a solicitor come up on her iPad. I don't have any apple devices so it can't have been that our devices were synched. I tried to find the document on her iPad shortly after and couldn't find it again. It was very odd and we never got to the bottom of it so if anyone can explain it, I'd be really interested too.

Read The Da Vinci Code (probably an exaggeration but entertaining nevertheless). Someone I knew who followed Opus Dei assured me he didn't wear a Cilice 🤔

I think an episode of Black Mirror sponsored by conway sounds more plausible than the left wing plot mentioned on the other thread 🤔 Has anyone seen the film Holes? It could be a perfect solution to potential unemployment caused by AI....dig a hole, then fill it up again then soon after do it all again. I think it could have cross party support rather than just a left wing plot 🤔

Interesting stats on cycle red light jumpers
Moovart replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
Because mopeds and motorbikes are registered, insured vehicles and electric powered bikes are not so they're more difficult to control. The police can confiscate them and the government could enforce registration of them as motor bikes but what other control is there? -
It's the start of the autumn council sweep up of fallen leaves.

I believe there's one in the Library of Things at East Dulwich Leisure Centre https://www.libraryofthings.co.uk/catalogue/browse

Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves. Seems ED might be one of them ☹️

Are you a very wealthy second home owner? Do you have dual nationality? It's not that easy to leave your country if you're neither of these. Where would you go?

Party wall surveyor recommendation needed
Moovart replied to schokoschnecke's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Make sure you use a chartered surveyor. Party wall surveyors need no actual surveying qualifications to set themselves up as a PWS. You don't need RICS qualifications to be a member of Pyramus and Thisbe society. When a PW agreement is straight forward then it's not a problem to have a unqualified PWS but if you run into structural problems you need a qualified surveyor as a PWS who fully understands buildings. -
