You and Yours Radio 4 are doing a phone in about the postal service tomorrow. They want to hear about your experiences of sending and receiving post. Email them beforehand at: youandyours@bbc.co.uk. -
I heard it was there but that’s all. Will need it for some duvets.

Moving out of East Dulwich to release capital - but where to??
Azalea replied to GrumpyOldGitLady's topic in The Lounge
I don’t know that area but I’d love a house with a walk in larder. What period is your house? -
Last night, early evening, there were about five police vans with their lights on blocking Oglander Road and Oxenford Street. Does anyone know what was going on? Five police vans indicate something serious. Maybe I should post this somewhere else.

This sounds hellish. Have you thought of contacting BBC local news, both TV and radio as well as the ITV local news? There is a known shortage of midwives so it’s sad that you are having to stop work. Woman’s Hour on Radio 4 would be another programme.

Trick-or-Treat Friendly Streets in East Dulwich 🎃
Azalea replied to TWB Cat Sitter's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
To me, it’s bizarre to go to streets and ring strangers’ doorbells purely for the reason of getting free sweets. There needs to be some interchange with the people who are giving you sweets, they are supposed to vaguely recognise you even though you are costumed and say how great you look which hopefully you do. The trick or treaters should know who you are. I’ve heard too many older bratty children (age 10 plus+) walking the streets round here and audibly saying how great it is to be given free stuff while not even wearing a costume. The tiny children are the only ones I’d have any time for now. I lived in North America for a while as a child and we only went round our local streets and rang the doorbells of people we knew. When I was too old to trick or treat , it was fun to hand out the treats while seeing kids you knew, younger brothers and sisters of your school friends, and who had spent time and effort organising their costumes. Some of our neighbours with garages organised bobbing for apples and had hot mulled non alcoholic cider and donuts for both children and the grownups. -
Because of blood clots, deaths and lawsuits.

Good to hear. They are facing lawsuits for this vax.

I don’t understand why parents think it’s OK to let their children run around in pubs and restaurants, treat them like a crèche and get in the way of the staff trying to do their jobs. It’s so selfish of them to allow this and it’s dangerous and unpleasant for the staff and other customers while they are carrying hot food and drink. I once encountered a rampaging child in a busy ED dog friendly cafe who, on his travels around the cafe, decided to poke, prod and hurt my dog who was minding her own business under the table. I kept telling him to stop, explained that’s not how to treat an animal but he took no notice. I had to stand up in order to shout over to his father who had his back to the room/everyone while staring out of a window. Thankfully he removed himself and the child pdq but no apology was offered. i also remember that Rose, who had Grace and Favour in Northcross Rd, telling me one of the reasons she stopped serving food there was because of the number of customers using it as a crèche.

Have you checked which Indian restaurants are open? Pizza GoGo in East Dulwich Grove once told me they are always open. -
How is your dog? I saw that someone on another thread had posted a link to a newspaper article about a dog killed in Sydenham Woods. I wondered if this was the bichon mentioned by Robocop? What makes a person want to have a dog with such a strong bite/grip that you would have to worry about them causing death or damage to another animal or person? Muzzling them is one thing, but why would you want to have to always keep them on a lead? A friend had an American bulldog (in the US) while her children were growing up, and had to spend a lot of time supervising this dog inside their house because of his powerful jaws. She told me much later that she didn’t know why she got him as it was very stressful. She was a skilled dog owner and had had various breeds of dogs inc. small mutts like shih tzu crosses and Australian heelers/cattle dogs (and still did) since she was a young adult. Sorry in advance to staffy owners, but there do seem to be a lot of staffy/staffy crosses with moronic owners who leave them off the lead even on pavements. This includes men who ride their bike on the road and let their dog run along the pavement. One unleashed staffy in particular used to rush up to my dog who was being walked on the lead. I was assured by the owner that his dog was friendly but the dog had no recall and the owner had no concept that both my dog and I were uncomfortable with this behaviour. No dogs should be allowed to harass other dogs or people. This indicates that you don’t have control over your dog. It’s an offence to allow any dog to be dangerously out of control in various places. This is why Princess Anne was convicted after her EBT bit children in Windsor Great Park.
