  1. Anyone in ED had a home birth? It's something I'm exploring for my first and I'm keen to hear about other local experiences and any tips for the process. Many thanks,
  2. I also recommend Michele at Goose Green for pregnancy yoga on Saturday mornings. She is lovely and the classes have really helped me with relaxing and dealing with back pain x
  3. Hello, I'm due with my first in June and would love to meet up with other mums to be! I'll PM my number x
  4. Afternoon all, We are expecting our first this summer and cannot decide on a buggy! Initially we were considering the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 as I know from previous experience the suspension is excellent making it also comfortable for the parent pushing (I got v sore wrists pushing a bumping maclaren when I was a nanny. I'm quite drawn to the Uppa baby Cruz due to the size and similarity to the BC (I don't like the bee)and hoped to hear from others with experience of using it. In particular, how does it feel to push over bumpier ground / paving stones? I've also heard conflicting reports about the quality of the wheels - did yours wear out quickly or go well for ages? Many thanks in advance for your views!
  5. They are similar in price for NCT / hynobirthing. Hollie is booked up so we are going to do the NCT and an essential hyponobirthing course by Lizzie of Hammond Hypnobirthing Good luck with yours! X
  6. Hello all, Just wondering if there are any other local mums to me out there due this summer? I'm expecting my first in June...is there a local group in place for those in a similar position? If not, let me know if you fancy forming one :) x
  7. Have a look at the Longchamp ones. Roomy but folds up when travelling or not in use. Loads of colours to choose and internal compartment for Oyster card & lipstick :)
  8. Thanks sillywoman I've been in touch with the club already to register my interest for your Feb brunch and hypo meet :) both myself and hubby are now convinced and will be investing in NCT and Hypo classes...many thanks all for the advice x
  9. Evening all, Expecting our first in the summer and I'm getting prep done now whilst I have some time. I'd like to pick your brains on which buggy to go for! I used to work as a nanny for many years and had a lot of experience with the bugaboo chameleon which was great. However the buffalo looks more sturdy and comfy. I'm just wondering if it's extreme and too big? Factors we are considering: 1. We need a travel system (car seat clicks into the bugaboo, cot and seat switch easily and its collapsible) 2. Space for bags/ shopping is important 3. Superficial I know but if it comes in Royal Blue all the better - some of the colour choices or patterns really put me off! We don't know if we are having a girl or boy and we've just gone with the colour we like that isn't black or cream! Does anyone have experience with the chameleon or buffalo? Which would you recommend? Or should we be considering something different altogether? Many thanks as ever! X
  10. Stars on Gipsy Hill are FANTASTIC! Lovely ladies and really reasonably priced. I've been going there for 10+ years now and have really tricky to manage thick hair which can frizz. Their highlights are great their cuts are the best and their blow drys amazing. Every friend I've taken there is converted and I'm up to 12 and counting!!! Plus they do a discount on Wednesdays on colour - win win!
  11. My sister used to work in beauty PR and was always getting me various samples to try. Some things she raved about just didn't work for me and vice versa. My advice is take a morning if you can and pop up to a department store - John Lewis and Harvey Nicks will both get their make up ladies to test foundations and other make up products on you and then you can feel what each product is like on your skin and get really good advice from them. You might even get a load of free samples to try and home too before deciding what to splash out on! X
  12. Haha thank you! It's Hollie I've been in touch with so that's really good to know!
  13. That's really helpful insight thank you. I'm pleased we are on the NCT now! I might look into one or two hyponobirthing sessions as well x
  14. Another pregnancy post! We are enrolled in NCT classes but I'm reading lots on Hypobirthing and it sounds really good. Does anyone have experience of it? Would you recommend it? I'm unsure whether I'd benefit from it on top of NCT? Can I learn what I need from a book? Or should I also enrol in classes? Again thoughts and advice welcomed x
  15. Evening all, Can you recommend somewhere local for prenatal yoga classes? Or any other prenatal fitness classes? I'm used to being pretty active but would benefit from advice and guidance throughout the pregnancy. Tips and advice appreciated!
  16. I think it has all reopened - I drove past at 7am and it was incredibly clear (hurrah) and the signs seem to have been removed! I scoured the news and twitter and came across this http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2015/11/lambeth-council-u-turn-on-the-loughborough-junction-road-closures-sees-loughborough-road-reopening/ Does this mean my commute is going back to normal? *crossing my fingers and toes*
  17. Hello, can anyone recommend a proficient and ideally local firm or person who can carry out valuations of musical instruments including an upright piano? Many thanks
  18. I'm an estate agent (hear me out!) though not locally based for work which is Chelsea where no one gets a survey! As a rule of thumb which I've applied each time I've bought and sold as well is that a homebuyers is plenty unless a) you're aware of issues with the house, or b) the homebuyers flags up something which needs further investigations. If you're getting a mortgage, your bank's survey will also have comments about the property and they are within their rights to request more investigatory work, down value the property or issue a retention if there is a major problem. Surveys are by their nature designed to find out any upcomg problems in the property so expect some structural movement (historical- London is full of clay soil which expands and contracts and this causes movement), some damp (kenwood will do a free quote to ascertain further costs) and caution advised re gas and electrics (as surveyors generally arent qualified to give assurances for such). Good luck with the purchase! X
  19. Wow thanks for all the responses! My "win the lottery" dream / retirement plan is to basically spend my time at Battersea but as I'm a long way off that and can't commit to loads of hours regularly, this is the next best thing and it's free and local :) Lady Deliah I would love to meet Hannibal just drop me a private message and we can arrange to meet?! Thank you all!
  20. Hello neighbours! A bit of a soppy post- after 11 happy years, our dog who was a rescue staffy from Battersea Dogs Home passed away in January. Due to various reasons we are not currently in a position to take on another dog right now, so I thought I'd see if there is anyone with a dog who needs it looking after from time to time or over weekends etc as I would love to help! This will also help me fill the dog shaped hole in my life!
  21. I sort of followed it today but took a bit of a d tour and ended up Holmdene Ave SE24. That hill..... 😩
  22. Hmmmmm....v odd. Sometimes they are lazy putting them back in the right place... But 6 days on my brown bin and several of my neighbours' are still AWOL?!?!? Council are sending out new ones. Why would someone want to nick the plastic wheely bins?!?!
  23. Anyone else had their brown food recycling bin go missing after this weeks collection?!
